Thanks guys! It's about time, huh? I decided to go with a nice little reindeer. He's cute and some tri hottie addict friend sent him my way (thanks!). Next month you might get to see the cute little alien I call my son...along with my oldest and most insolent child (a.k.a. my husband). We shall see.

So how is everyone today?

Yay Amy has an avatar!!! thats so cool

Oh!  You're so funny!!!!!  The reindeer are only able to perform Santa's work if the Elves do their job!  Us Elves are going on strike and heading to the pool!!!!!

Actually, I encouraged your team to turn against you in nonviolent protest. Now you just twitch your tail and run along, since you may as well give up on the swimming

Swam 58 minutes today

Less drilling more swimming and man I was breathing heavily and wondering what the heck is wrong with me? I don't think I can finish this workout as laid out by my coach. Pacing it is all about and I have only been drilling and not swimming since early October...so much to remember. I needed to slow down, and by forcing myself to do it I worked it out. I really wanted to stop mid-way through my workout as I was annoyed & frustrated. Doing 100's and 200's shouldn't be that hard.

My focus today was turning my head less to breath and keeping one google eye still in the water..felt weird as I'd look out the one eye under water but I got the hang of it more.

Why is swimming so hard?

Good swim! Swimming is hard right now because you have so many things to think about while you're doing it. Try to relax as much as possible while you're in the water. I know, easier said than done, but pick one thing per lap to think about. So the rest of your body can be relaxed while you are moving through the water.

Hey just wanted to say that all you Reindeer are doing a great job! Been keeping track of the posts but not posting myself. But since I have a goal for swimming I think that maybe I should also set a goal of getting a star. Noz, love that pic of the hairdrier posted to the snowmen thread. That is funny!

Hey fellow Reindeer! Sorry for being MIA the past couple of weeks. I've been putting in 60+ hour work weeks which left little time for anything other than sleep since I commute 32 miles each way, too. Thankfully, things have returned to normal for me this week so I should be back around and posting again. I've really missed all of my BT buds!

Melissa, I hear ya on the long workweek...leaving for Albuquerque this morning...wasn't in the original plans for December, but at least I'll be back before Christmas...

I've got a long commute too (30 miles), but at least it's Minneapolis...it takes me 40 min to get to work if I leave early in the morning and almost an hour and 15 minutes on the commute home if the traffic is bad.  I would imagine the traffic in southern Cal is much worse.

Good luck this week...I miss BT as well...I'm about a week behind in inspires...

I know what I'm having for DINNER!!

and all because santa went crazy...

Down in the workshop all the elves were makin' toys
For the good Gentile girls and the good Gentile boys
When the boss busted in, nearly scared 'em half to death
Had a rifle in his hands and cheap whiskey on his breath
From his beard to his boots he was covered with ammo
Like a big fat drunk disgruntled Yuletide Rambo
And he smiled as he said with a twinkle in his eye,
"Merry Christmas to all - now you're all gonna die!"

The night Santa went crazy
The night St. Nick went insane
Realized he'd been gettin' a raw deal
Something finally must have snapped in his brain

Well, the workshop is gone now, he decided to bomb it
Everywhere you'll find pieces of Cupid and Comet
And he tied up his helpers and he held the elves hostage
And he ground up poor Rudolph into reindeer sausage
He got Dancer and Prancer with an old German Luger
And he slashed up Dasher just like Freddy Krueger
And he picked up a flamethrower and he barbequed Blitzen
And he took a big bite and said, "It tastes just like chicken!"

The night Santa went crazy
The night Kris Kringle went nuts
Now you can't hardly walk around the North Pole
Without steppin' in reindeer guts

There's the National Guard and the F.B.I.
There's a van from the Eyewitness News
And helicopters circlin' 'round in the sky
And the bullets are flyin', the body count's risin'
And everyone's dyin' to know, oh Santa, why?
My my my my my my
You used to be such a jolly guy

Yes, Virginia, now Santa's doin' time
In a federal prison for his infamous crime
Hey, little friend, now don't you cry no more tears
He'll be out with good behavior in 700 more years
But now Vixen's in therapy and Donner's still nervous
And the elves all got jobs working for the postal service
And they say Mrs. Clause, she's on the phone every night
With her lawyer negotiating the movie rights

They're talkin' bout - the night Santa went crazy
The night St. Nicholas flipped
Broke his back for some milk and cookies
Sounds to me like he was tired of gettin' gypped

Wo, the night Santa went crazy
The night St. Nick went insane
Realized he's gettin' a raw deal
Something finally must have snapped in his brain
Wo, something finally must have snapped in his brain
Tell ya, something finally must have snapped... in his brain

Good morning, Reindeer. I'm trying to motivate myself out the door and to the pool. More excited about getting my hair done than swimming. Would really like to not swim. But, since the only other day I can swim this week is Friday, and I do not want to end up doing some double workout to keep me on track for goal, I'm going to get off the computer and head to the Y. Happy Tuesday, everyone.

Good Morning Reindeer! Got a day off work so want to do a double swim workout today. Then got to thinking that I am going to pass my goal for the month sometime this week, more than likely by Thursday or Friday. Is this going to hurt the team or is the extra stuff not counted until the final week? Can someone enlighten me? I read the rules but I also saw where someone posted that you get a penalty.

Hi there

Here's the rule

4. Individuals who achieve more than their committed goal will not have these additional swims counted in the first 3 weeks of the challenge (so increase your goal!!!)
EXCEPTION: In the final week of the challenge team members may exceed 100% (up to 120% max,) and use their additional data to assist team members who are struggling to reach their goal

I went back to the rules to refresh my memory - it doesn't look like there's a penalty, just that the extra swimming may not count for the challenge - worst case, you can just adjust your goal a bit

I'll clarify with Cat or Donto to be sure, but I say go for it
