Join the club. Day light savings has thrown me off my schedule big time. And work hasn't help.

If you are interested, I am probably riding the SCT trail on Sunday. I will probably depart from the trailhead around 8. The plan is about 3 hours.

Thanks Dollar, but uh, your sitting back relaxing pace is a bit too fast for me. We'll talk soon, once I get speedier

Running tomorrow morning, then taking some video at the Tri-Kids workout (I'm making them a video for the end of season). Then an open water swim if it's safe out at Lake Lanier.

Sunday is Shamrock n' Roll and then a windtrainer class.

Sounds like I've got my days flipped around what the weather is going to be. Poop.

My plan is to do a long run of ~10 mi. on Saturday or Sunday.  Kind of just depends on the weather.

Ok. I decided a long bike ride wasn't a good idea after all.  So if it doesn't rain tomorrow I'm biking around Lake Sammamish (23 miles) with 2 BTers. So please pray that it doesn't rain. Last time I did it in 1 hour 40m which is what I'm scheduled to do tomorrow anyway so it's perfect   Can't wait. Sunday it's the St Paddy's Day Dash.  I is excited.

I think that is a good workout at a competitive pace.  My question is how you felt during the 750?  Did your form breakdown toward the end?  Were you gasping for air?

I think that is the wiser decision

Plus 23 miles is plenty of a workout.

That is great!  I would suggest a workout where you focus on the 200-400 range.  Maybe do a small warm up then 6x200.  See how you feel on the final two 200s.  And watch your form.  Things are looking good for you!

So I finally have THE BIKE.  After we spoon for a while I will take pics and give you all the first preview and first crack at picking out a name (though I am impartial to one already).

Morning folks! Well it rained and it's still raining a bit so I had to cancel my ride this am. Going to wait another hour though and bike a trail close to home.

I've been seeing Atlanta on the news and wondering if you guys were affected by the storms?  Looks terrible.

Happy Weekend!  I am now fabulously unemployed!  Which hopefully translates into more training time for me.  (And take that with a grain of salt, I now have 3 jobs instead of 4)

I got my 10-miler in this morning.  I'll have to admit it's one of the toughest runs I've ever done.  The roads were snowy and icy, so I slowed down the pace a bit.  My mile 5, I really had to pee, so had to make a pit stop at home.  Miles 6 and 7 I was having really bad stomach cramps.  By mile 9 my legs were done, so I walked the rest of it.

I now have a date with my couch for the rest of the day.  Laughing

Dude - that is absolutely gorgeous.  Are those 808's or 1080's.  I think they are 808's, I can't enlarge enough without getting blurry.  Will you be adding any color or will you be staying with the "sleek black" look?  All I can say is that it looks faster than me.

It is a 1080.  I wanted to go as deep as a I can while still maintaining as much functionality as I could.

Right now it is staying all black.  I like the sleek, stelthy look.  I thought about going with a white saddle and white bar tape but decided against it at the last moment.  However, stay tuned this year....I may have a few other tricks up my sleeve for this bike

Oh, and guys, there is info in my logs about the contest I'm taking part in again.  During the last contest, I had over 800 votes, and the guy that won still won by a landslide.  It's much easier this time because it's just one round of voting, but I'm also having a lot of trouble getting people psyched up about it again, so any help you can offer is soooo welcome!

Details -

Send an email to [email protected] with 'pbj.typepad.com' as the subject. You can only vote once.  You can read my essay and see my video on the above url.  You can also vote from my blog, but the email method may be easier.

Spanks!

mountian biking vs. road biking. not this weekend comming up but the one after I am going to be going to my lake house friday and comming back sunday.

I will swim before I leave friday and i can run sunday in the woods/trail. for my 21 min run. but I have a 70 min bike ride scheduled for sat. I am goign to take my mountian bike down there (if the bike shop has it fixed by then) and will ride on the gravle roads and in the trials in the woods.

How do you think mountian biking time stacks up to road?

My training this week is going to have to be "creative" as we have a ton of crap going on in other areas that I have to participate in.  You can read my blog later today for the "big scoop" on one of my daughters.  Too long to go into here.

On that note - I talked to people from both of the Tri-teams in my area and I still have reservations about joining one.  The largest is that I have to do some weird scheduling things because I have so much else going on, family wise, and though I am dedicated to training (example: doing a 1 hour training ride at 1 AM after we got home from an event that my daughter participated in and then had to drive 5 hours home), I am dedicated to my family twice as much, a lesson that I learned from being as sick as I was and thinking that I would surely be dead by now.  That experience changed my priorities a lot.  Anyway - I wouldn't be able to do a lot of the team training stuff, so I don't know how great I would be as a "team member".  I will have to think on it for a while.  This week - --

Monday - 30' high rpm spin, 30 minute Yoga conditioning - 15' run - 40 yd dashes

Tuesday - Run 25', 3x10" hill sprints - Swim 750 yds, 5x50 Free, 1x50 back, 1x50 Breast, 2x200 Free.

Wednesday - 60' bike ride - Good even pace over normal terrain.

Thursday - 30' Run, Fartleks, 4x30" - Swim 1300 Yds, 1x200 WU, 4x50 Form, 4x100 Free, 1x50 back, 1x50 breast, 2x200 free.

30' yoga conditioning.

Friday - Drink Beer - I mean "rest day".

Saturday - 1:20:00 run - LSD

Sunday - 1 Hour Gear ride (I've never done one of these before) - Start in Big ring, easiest gear for 3', work to hardest gear shifting every 3'.  Leaving in highest gear, 10x2' (30" recover, 30" all out, 30" recover, 30" stand), recover 5' in highest gear, shift down to easier gear at 1' intervals.

I am guessing that this will be hard.

tri-dg - 2008-03-17 11:08 AM  How do you think mountian biking time stacks up to road?

I have never been mtn biking but I would assume it is much more difficult and streneous on the body due to the terrain.  I would think 70' on rough terrain is 2x as hards as 70' on the road bike.  Look at it as a strength session...kinda like doing hills.

Weekly workouts look something like this...

M:  3150y swim
T:  Morning weights/6x800 at 10k pace
W: 30' run  /  Riding 60' hills
T:  60' tempo run
F:  30' run / 2500y swim
S:  4h bike w/ 20' T-run
S:  2h run (final long run!)

I am knocked off my morning routine right now and it really sucks.
