Subject: RE: Shermbelle's Group Full and training our a$$es offRyan... so happy to hear you are having such a speedy recovery!! If only the bike could heal itself along with you :-) I had a race this weekend, another sprint and I was pretty happy with how I did! My training lately has been more run focused for the upcoming death race in a couple weeks... so I haven't been swimming or biking much at all, which is evident in my times! The swim was on par with the last swim time, bike was a bit faster (the course was flat flat flat..) and the run was a minute faster! Go figure!
I finished in 1:26:41 (750S, 20KM bike, 5k run), 6th/16 in my age group, 54/95 total. My actual times and stuff are in the log. Last weekend, I went down to try out my leg of the death race (www.canadiandeathrace.com) ...leg #2... oh sweet mother... it was the HARDEST thing I've ever done in my entire life!!! I wanted to cry haha it's about 3/4 of a marathon, with two mountain summits in the middle...(6500 ft summits).. I've never experienced anything like this in my entire life. It took 6 hours for us to go 25km or something (a little shorter than the actual leg..).. it was hiking straight up, and straight down, up and down...down and up... for the entire time.. no break! It was the first time in my life where I reached the point where your mind takes over and your body just is forced to follow. It showed me that I'm stronger than I thought I was, and able to put up with a hell of a lot of pain !! The last 5 miles are virtually all straight down hill on slippery gravel, I thought my knees were going to bust right out of the skin, thought my toes were broken, thought I was going to die... but once you get to the bottom, stuff yourself with food, rest... it's funny how your body is just fine... It was an insane experience.. and now I have to do it for real in two weeks... I'm totally freaking out !! |
