So we're supposed to get 10" of snow tomorrow.  I so don't want to have to start using my Yak Trax in October.

Do you really use those and feel comfortable in them?  I have polled people on FB to see what people do in the winter, both on weekend as well as not being home during the daylight.

I used Yak Trax all winter last year.  No issues whatsoever.  I won't run in the dark, but I will run on the ice/snow.

THIS is why I moved to Arizona. The weather in CT SUCKS. And I was born and raised their. Lived for 34 years of my life in Fairfield County, CT., so I KNOW what the weather is like. Trust me, GET OUT and enjoy your life outdoors!

So much going on in this thread today.

Michelle - wow, that must have been a difficult time for you and your family.  I'm glad you are ok now.

Kelly - you don't have a Corgi?  I assumed by all the photos that you did.

To all those that live in areas that get snow - I am very envious.  I've have lived in Southern California, Northern California and North Georgia.  No snow in So Cal.  In No Cal we got snow one day when I was in 4th grade.  My brothers and I all pulled out our snow skis and went skiing.  Atlanta gets snow about once a year, but not much.  Except this past January we had so much snow my work was closed for 3 days!  Unheard of, but we're not prepared for heavy snow so the roads iced up and were not drivable.  I went out running every day, through the neighborhood and even to the grocery store.  It started getting dangerous with the ice, but initially I had crunchy puffy snow to run in.  I'm sure if I lived in it I'd feel differently.  I'm just over this heat and humidity!

I have a corgi - doberman mix that we picked up from a kill shelter in Alabama 8 years ago.

I want a purebred corgi but at the moment with Abbey and the three cats there's no room.  We're looking to buy a new house next year so once we have a bigger place I can get a corgi (and goats)!

Kelly - I have to see a pic of a corgi doberman mix - that is a very unusual mix!!! Not sure I have ever seen one!

Morning, all!

Cute dog, Kelly

I was at the gym pretty early this morning.  Got in some power yoga and an easy swim.  May do some core work later if I feel like it (or I may sit around and eat candy corn all day).  Carving pumpkins in a bit.  I will leave the seeds out overnight to dry out.  Anyone have any interesting or unusual pumpkin seed recipes?  I want to do 1/2 spicy and can't seem to come up with anything.

Interesting looking dog Kelly!! I see both breeds - no german shepard? Do you know there is a DNA test to see all the breeds that make up a dog? We did it as drs to test it - we used a purebred german shepard owned by one of the drs and then a mutt. The pure bred came up as 100% GSD and the mutt came up with 4 different breeds. It was interesting!

Thanks, adorable little race like 30 people, entry fee was a bag of food for the local food pantry, not chip timed. Hot apple cider afterwards. I love the big events but these are fun too. I was going to do the local Halloween run tomorrow, but given we are having a frikin noreaster ..... They are predicting 6-10 inches of snow in new haven

After my run today (5 miles) I'm just over 40 for the month. It's my second highest volume since I've been "training" and yet I feel like a slacker this month.

I know my volumes decreased after the tri last month, mainly due to working on getting the restaurant and not having a race to focus on. But to still have a decent (for me) run volume surprised me.

I have gained 3-4 pounds, though, and need to really focus back on my diet. The belly is growing some! Probably also due to virtually zero swimming.

That's why I always have a race on the schedule. If I am signed up for something I will train and then I can eat.

Yep helps keep the weight off and gives me something to focus on other than work. I had a strange sense of calm at swim the other night and going home i started thinking about work. It was nice to forget about work and life's stresses for an hour!!!
