And 1600m=12000m... Done! Whew...

Just in time 'cuz the pool's closed for the weekend.

But now I'm obsessed and I'll probably be in the water on Tuesday anyway.

Thanks so much TH3 FRB for suggesting this & thank you, thank you, thank you Team Chyck for all your encouraging posts to my training log. Couldn't have pushed myself so hard (for me) without you ladies backing me up.

Best,
Ellie

Ladies- I feel I owe an apology for my sad performance. I can say it was truly due to a massive freakout before the GRE (which then went excellent), followed by a crashing immune system (from the stress I think). I'm gonna swim for all I'm worth on tuesday (the next day my pool is open) but I don't think I'll make it. I'll do as possum suggested if I am the one who drags us down. On the up side, I have made large strides in swim distance since I started two months ago! Ladies- you all kick ass. I'm so impressed that so many of you destroyed your goals! I'll set another goal for next month and do the same!

BMAX, your baby's picture (your avatar) is just too freakin' precious. Beautiful, beautiful child.

I have 6,500 yards to go. I'm off to the pool. It's like Groundhog Day in a swim pool...

*whispers* I won't make my goal. I hope this doesn't tank us.

I had three tris this month and I take the Monday following the race off which caused me to miss my Master's class three times. While I've been trying to make up for it, I just don't see how I can get it done.

I'd also like to thank TH3 FRB for organizing this challenge. It has been a lot of fun. I'd love to say that my swim times have improved but I think that will take some sort of divine intervention.

Well, I made my goal yesterday. Considering that the parents AND in-laws are in town AND my son graduated, I was happy to spend some time at the pool to finish off my rather meager pledge.

I too swam almost double what I did in April and feel like this challenge helped me got some good water time in.

Go TEAM CHYCKS!

Congrats to everyone knocking off their goals this weekend and good luck to those who plan to  crank out the last few yards in the next two days.  I'm done...After a hard 10k effort yesterday and a very nice 54 mile ride thismorning I've decided to take tomorrow off (my second rest day this month!) and bail on masters swim.  I hit my goal and that's what I wanted to do.  Now I just hope the guys don't fall .5% short or I'll feel bad for not getting in one last 4km swim.

Stay tuned for the final update on Wednesday.

Logged my last swim of the month. 47k done, so I made my goal with 2k to spare. Even despite missing a couple days swimming to a finger mishap and pool closure. Oi!

I actually did 2 swim workouts today to get the yards up. I had 5000 yds to go to my goal, and have 2000 yds planned for Tuesday (first day of the 1/2IM training plan). So I did 2300 yds at the tri club swim workout, came home and had lunch and rested, then went BACK to the pool and did another 800 yds for a total of 3100 yds for today. That's the most I've ever swam in a day. So I'm back on track to getting to my goal. The monsoon storms didn't make it easy these past few days!

Congratulations to all! I like hearing stories of people being able to do twice the distance they used to... and only in one month! You could say that I doubled my distance this month... but that's because I'm getting back to where I used to be. I suppose I should jump on the next challenge... but I need to up my cycling milage.

Aw, thanks 'Zilla! I just don't want the boys to win by a fraction of a percent or anything. So I'm going to do everything possible to get to 100%.

Hmm...I may have counted something wrong from today's TTG workout. I broke everything down in my blog.

I friggin did it. I have no idea how, but I did it. The most importnat thing I learned this month (aside from not writing a check with my mouth that my body can't cash...) is that 5th elelment of tris. we all know th3 three biggies, and I have heard some say the T's are the 4th. Holy crap, the hardest part, MY weakest link is my own damn head. Mental toughness doesn't come easily to me, but this challenge really got me using my head and heart in new ways. So thanks, ya'll. I'm off to take a long nap.

Well, ladies, I am so sorry to report that I missed my goal by 4,501 yards. My shoulder just couldn't take anymore. I contemplated doing 2 days of 2250 yds kicks but that seemed rather silly and counterproductive. The whole idea was to improve our swimming and I have done that but I believe I reached the point where my shoulders were breaking down.

Thank you, Joel, for organizing this Swim Challenge. Thank you, Gentlemen, for being such good sports and enduring our good-natured smack talking. And THANK YOU, TEAM CHYCK, for being so inspirational, motivational and committed to meeting your goals. Awesome performance from all involved. What a great website!

YES!!! I crossed the finish line this morning, logging my last 2000 yds and meeting my 15,000 yd goal. Woohoo! It was tough, and definitely a challege, but it feels good to be in the triple digit percentage club!

Check another one off for Team Chyck! Plus 1000 yards, even. This has definitely made me focus on my swimming more than any other month. Previously, if I missed a workout, it was a swim more than a bike or run. And there were a couple times this month where there was a wrench in my plan that would have thrown a swim workout out the window, but being accountable to a team made me double-back and make sure I got my yards in.

Thanks Joel!

I finished mine... It was ugly, but I did it. Because of missing so much time in the middle, I had to really pour it on at the end - including two days (Friday and Today) of lunch and after work swims. Still I got there 30,250 yards - 250 more than my goal, just to show that I had some class coming in on the last day...

Great job everyone!

Sorry Guys....I fell 5,500 meters short of my goal, and I have no one to blame except for my wife She decided to deliver our third child on May 23rd, and I was unable to get to the pool enough to complete the swim. This was a great challenge and I think that everybody did a really good job.

Thanks.

This is really embarrassing. I had it all planned out. I had tuesday off and I planned on a big swim workout (just over 3000 yards) as part of my final taper for the race this weekend. I started out with a 20 minute easy swim to get my pace down. Then, I was supposed to work on 500's and 250's fast/easy. In reality... a huge thunderstorm cam ripping through central Oklahoma and they kicked us out of the pool about 1000 yards into my workout. Long story short - I missed my goal. I hate to think of myself as an anchor on this team, but it's looking that way . At any rate, congrats to all those that achieved their goals and thanks for the inspiration!

Sorry girls, I was away all weekend and I just couldn't get those last 1800 yards in today.  The only time I could have done it was 6:00 am this morning, or 8:30 tonight.  With everything going crazy around me right now, it wasn't going to happen.

Thanks for the encouragement and the challenge.  It got me in the pool on many a day when I didn't feel like swimming.  June is a new month, and I'm ready to beat my May total.

Oh sure, it's now the new baby or blizzard excuse. Even the excuses are getting competitive!

What ever happened to the 'it just didn't happen' excuse? That is mine and I'm sticking to it! Congrats to all of us who signed up; can't wait to send my $$$ to a worthy cause.
