Have fun Dineen!!!!!  You are going to have a blast!  Just enjoy the energy all around you.

Anyone else racing this weekend?

I am going to do a short ride tomorrow morning and then have a bunch of stuff to do in the afternoon.  I was also supposed to do a 4 mile run Sat.  but will move that to Sunday early morning and skip my short swim that was on the plan for sunday since I got 2 decent days in of swimming this week.  I want so bad to stick to the plan word for word, but sometimes life gets in the way and I will have to make little compromises along the way.

I actually passed on a night out with friends tonight since I have to ride at 6:30 am tomorrowFrown but will be able to get out tomorrow nightSmile

Yanti- How are things going with your Mom?

What's everyone doing this weekend? Well, we know Dineen is rocking at the Danskin. I hope you're all have a great training (or otherwise) weekend. My DH has been away all week from an overseas trip, so I'll be glad to see him tonight.

I decided to go down and do the IronGirl 5K today just for fun. They have the best race schwag. If you ever get a chance go for one of their tris or runs. I've done this run 3 years now and they are well organized and treat the women very special. There are a lot of first-timers and walkers in the 5K, but that's what makes it great! Plus, there's a separate mom/daughter division. Wasn't sure how my legs would feel after last week's mary and then a really slow crawl of a run of 2 miles on Thursday, but I felt pretty good. I'm going to do some gardening today because it's just beautiful out and tomorrow is supposed to be cooler. Tomorrow I'll be riding with some GF's in the a.m.

Happy Mother's Day all whether you're a mom or a daughter or a spouse!

By the way, that is not a snake in my avatar like several people have thought! It's my OC Marathon medal.

Good Morning and Happy Mother's Day everyone.

Dineen - Hope you are having a blast right about now!!!  We want to hear every detail!

How was the 5k Lynn?  It sounds like it would be a lot of fun in that atmosphere!!

My parents are coming over for a lunch time cook out for Mother's Day.  Hopefully I can get in a run after that, It is too cold and windy for me to bike!

Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm due for a rest day but I can't seem to stop myself from working out every day.  If I'm feeling good is there any reason I have to take a day off?

I did my long run today and although I know everyone said to keep it slow and easy, I really felt like I needed to push just a little harder than I have been.  I ended up doing 10:56 miles which is still a very comfortable pace for me, but definitely better than the 11:17 I averaged last week.  It also helped that my knee felt better during this run.

Ryan, The Man says the 5k on 5/22 is "fine" so tell me where I need to go to sign up for your team.

Waiting with flippers crossed to hear how Dineen's race went.

Happy late Mother's Day!
Good job on the run today Allison...that is a nice drop in your avg time.
Here is the link:
https://secure2.convio.net/abta/site/TRR/ABTAEvent/General?fr_id=1560&pg=tfind&JServSessionIdr004=8oliwmcn51.app214b
Search for "Sweaty Spartan Sprinters".  If that link doesn't work let me know.
My wife, Laura is the team captain and there are currently two other people signed up (myself-Ryan Blackledge and Deb Acanfora).  Thanks so much for joining us Allison!  My wife will be really excited.

Also, anxiously awaiting the tri race report...it makes me really want to race again soon!

Ryan,  tell Laura to check her team now...it's doubled in sizeLaughing

SpawnDaddy is racing too...we decided to run this all out to gauge progress thru the season as we're trying this new kind of workout called "speed work."

We'll have to try to meet up for pix and stuff before and/or after the race!  Oh and don't let me forget to get a babysitter!!!

Pics before and/or after the race is a good idea.  Let me know if you need any parking advice in the area too.

Happy first day of Ironman training to Yanti!

I'm hoping that Dineen is starting this week as a TRIATHLETE!!!  WooHoo!!!

Hope everyone had a good Mother's day and was able to celebrate with the ones you love

I took Friday as a rest day (b/c it was too crazy at work to do otherwise).  Had my long ride on Saturday (holy wind Batman) and Sunday was a biggo rest day (and food day).  Hubbs and kidlet took me out for breakfast...pancakes are my fave.  Then after about a 4 hour nap, we headed to my parents house and cooked them steak for Mother's day.  It was a great day.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

I'm signed up now too.  Hubs would have joined as well but Risa has a game that morning so someone has to stay behind and play soccer mom.  I am going to need parking help.  I'll be driving in at o'dark thirty so let me know what time everyone is planning to meet and check in so I can make sure I'm there in time.

The weather is lovely today and I'm itching to get out and do something but the little dude is a bit under the weather so I'm taking a rest day today.  I probably need it anyway but I'm going a little stir crazy anyway.

Thanks so much Allison and I am glad that your husband could cover the "soccer mom" roll for you on Saturday
I'll send out some parking options later tonight or tomorrow (may PM them to you too).

I appreciate all of the support and I am sure my wife will too!  I'll think of some meeting places for either before and/or after the race too.

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a good weekend.  I took a rest day on Saturday, and did a run yesterday.  It was actually a great run.  I don't know if it is because I didn't do anything on Saturday or what, but I felt really strong and it went really well!

Ryan - I am glad you wife's team is gaining more members!  I am jealous, though, that I don't live closer to meet you guys.  You will have a blast.  We want pictures posted!!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Karen

Sorry to leave ya'll hanging...  I AM A TRIATHLETE!!!!!   No internet in the hotel and BT is impossible on my phone.   I am working on my race report this evening and will post a link here when I am finally done.  Long story short:  swim was very rough for me (took me over 40 minutes, bleh) but I rocked the bike and did what I had expected on the run and I am just so pleased to have accomplished this.  And so amazed at the support I have, but in person and from folks like you all.  It was an amazing weekend.  More later, but for now, just thanks!

Congratulations triathlete!  Way to rock out the bike and at least meet your run expectations. Don't worry about the swim...it was your first time.  It will improve.  My first tri swim was below my expecations too and a lot of it had to do with the mass swim-start (or at least taking off with 75 other swimmers at the same time).
I look forward to reading your report...no pressure to finish tonight

Glad to see everyone checking in today. I wish we could all be at the 5K Ryan! I'm glad Quincy and Allison will be there. Interesting how many people are in the Chicago area. Definitely want photos. And, Dineen, or should I say, Ms. Triathlete, Dineen? Cool. We're all looking forward to the RR.

Yea Yanti on her first Ironman Day Training rest day!!

Be well, friends and train hard, but rest harder.

Congrats Dineen!  Hey Manatees, make sure you read D's race report, it's well written...you'll feel like you were there with her.  And she has lots of pix too!  And while we're at it, here is my two man time trial report from Saturday...I would much rather have been at Disney with Dineen and her girlfriends!
