Master 4452 | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles powerman - 2013-05-07 6:52 AM They can be sort of complicated, and some they won't touch. I do not know what I have, but yes, I should just go down and get it fixed and that should be that. And yes that is good. But once it is showing problems, it is a problem and it will only get worse up to all the heavy stuff. They should be giving me a call and I would like to think I would have a date by the end of the week. They said generally they can get someone in in about 2 weeks. I did ask about my training the last couple of years and the doc said it had no bearing on anything and didn't accelerate it getting worse. I have had it since birth. Much better to deal with it now relatively young and in shape then when I'm old. I really don't want to sit around for two weeks. I'm already going nuts and getting fat. I'm going to have to do something.... but I'm just a little scared and the though of it bursting and me not waiting two weeks keeps running through my head. 2 weeks is a blink of an eye compared to the rest of your life. Eat well, do what you can safely. |

Tried to snap a pic on my ancient flip phone, couldn't zoom in and I don't know how it turned out. really cool though I got to about 20 feet before he flew up into a tree nearby. |

Master 4452 | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles How's everyone going? I'm still plodding along . Hope everyone is doing well--I saw some eagles the other day on a run, but they weren't helping us out; glad to see Scott's hawk was. But, you know, the way those bunnies procreate, I suspect he is still out there, outrunning me! |

Extreme Veteran 544 Shawboro, NC | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles Didja miss me? Probably not, but I'm back. I've been in a funk lately. Life has gotten in the way of training (and racing) a bit. I've been working crazy hours at my real job, and I've been trying to ramp up my small business. Pile on top of that some unexpected financial burdens, and training and racing have taken a back seat.
I sadly will probably NOT get to do the Breezy Point Triathlon on June 2nd, and Rev3 Williamsburg will definitely not happen. I have no idea when my next triathlon will be. |

Master 2484 St. Louis | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles I was making some gains on catching the bunny but had a set back this weekend. I fell while running on singletrack and landed on a root and injured my ribs. I'm going to try to run tonight but I highly doubt I will be able to take the pain. Actually, I may just walk since it hurts to take a deep breath. Just a minor set back. |

Now to help make a bunch of us feel old I was talking with my 10 yr old last night (the one who did the 5k in the snow with me back in March). She was commenting on how when the kids were doing the Kids Running America runs after school, she liked being the last one running. I was telling her, her "teachers" were calling her their Energizer Bunny. She looks at me innocently and says, "What's that?" she had no clue - dad felt old at that comment.

Expert 2555 Colorado Springs, Colorado | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles Can I join? I was having some work, health and motivation issues last year and the first part of this year. I stopped logging last year. I think I have most of my running logged for this year. Maybe missed a few days. In 2008-2011 I ran almost 10,000 miles total, topping out at just over 3100 miles in 2010. Last year I have no idea, but think it was less than 800 or so. I took so much time off it almost feels like I'm starting over. I can get in some miles now, but have no real speed at all. My race pace is now slower than my average training pace less than two years ago. Something like this may be just the thing I need to keep myself motivated. Even at that it will be a struggle. I'm only at a bit less than 200 miles for the year, almost 4.5 months into the year. What say you? |

Nothing like a good challenge to get you motivated tho. In 2010 and 2011, I missed 1000 miles by about 40 miles. In October 2012, I realized that the same fate would await me unless I got busy. Erin, glad you are back with us. Still in Alaska or now in CO? Speed, sorry things have been hectic for you but glad that you are back. I really was wondering where you were. Expert 2555 Colorado Springs, Colorado | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles Thanks for the welcome. A couple years ago running 50 miles/week seemed easy. Now I'm having trouble getting over 20, and I think it's been more than 6 months since I have. I was battling a sinus infection for several months and it became so difficult to breathe while running I eventually stopped for a while. That's finally gone, but now it's like starting all over again. I may get over 20 miles this week and hopefully I can start building up again. It will take some time. I also gained some weight due to the inactivity. As I build that should start to come off - hopefully. I was racing frequently, but have taken a break for the most part. I had gotten used to competing for AG wins and now that's very far away. Don't see the point of paying to just run a few miles. That being said I do have a few races in the future. My family is doing the Bolder Boulder 10K at the end of the month. That won't really be a race for us this year, but we're doing it because it's a cool event. Later in the summer I'm doing the Pikes Peak Ascent. That will be my focus for the next couple months. If I get any speed back I may do some other races. |

I will not be able to do any biking or swimming due to being on a deployment to Kosovo. This would give me some motivation. |

Expert 1384 Charlottesville, Virginia | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles Hi All, Just updated my YTD. Now officially 100 miles behind the bunny for the year. I have another losing effort week ahead of me (business travel), but then will hopefully at least start keeping pace again. It's been really helpful to think about the weekly pace necessary to hit the goal. Normal weeks I'm pretty close to the miles necessary to make it, but I just have too many off weeks, so if you have 3 good weeks and then 1 off week, you quickly find yourself about 20-25% behind the goal. It's just that simple. But, my life isn't going to change anytime soon, so I guess that's my reality. Throw in an injury or two along the way and there you are. Anyway, guess I'll have to start thinking about marathon training for the Fall again :-) For some reason, we have a lot of bunnies in the yard this year. Every time I see one I think I should be running! Have a good week everyone! Stu |

I was just invited by the two members of a Spartan Race team to do the Mid-Atlantic Super Spartan on 24Aug13. The captain and co-captain invited me; I don't wanna say no! |

Veteran 151 Coldfoot, Alaska | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles Welcome, welcome ot all the new faces. Glad you can join us on our little challenge. If you see posts about dismembering bunnies - don't worry - we're probably not sociopaths - we just have a bunny that keeps pace and the little bugger never quits. As for me I'm settling back in to life in the real world. Even if slightly differently than I expected. Mom decided she wanted to start jogigng again so I go out with here and keep pace for C25K, and then go do another lap (our block is 2.0 miles) on my own. And my dad has decided to join us and brings along the three siberian huskies so at for at least half my runs right now I'm trying to control huskies. And altitude. Altitude sucks, but I'm almost over it. I do manage to sneak out on my own every once in a while and that is always a pleasure. Who would hae thought I'd miss the Coldfoot treadmill? Did 6.5 miles last Saturday and we are supposed to do BolderBoulder 10k on Monday with the family. So it will be pretty much a family walk. But it's progress, I'm about 300 miles in - a little behind the pace bunny but I should have that gap closed by the end of June I think - maybe July. Hope all is going well and I;ll take a peek at logs later today or tomorrow. Have fun and remember - its always rabbit season! |
