Good job Melissa. The biggest thing that keeps me from running is my bike because I would always rather ride. SO I fixed that for my challenge. I crashed my bike and now I can't ride it even if I wanted to.

x2 on the Good Job Melissa!

And really Mike...You did not need to go to all that trouble just for the sake of the G&G team!  Really...I hope you are recovering from your crash

You subconscious took over and eliminated the biking temptation.  That sounds like how my mind works.

I really need to make the time to get some good running shoes...and I should see a dr about my arch issues. argh.  At least my right foot isn't going numb anymore.

Have you been to a running specific store yet?  Had them look at your gait and feet yet?

Not for about ten years-I know my gait is screwy-When standing, I put nearly all of my weight on the ball of my right foot. I also tend to roll onto the sides of my feet when I am just standing around. My right arch is not nearly as pronounced as it was ten years ago. My left arch hasn't changed.  The Chiropractor is always trying to balance me out-it seems that my body is a half inch shorter on the right side-that could have something to do with my growth plate(bone in ankle) getting shattered in HS.

There is a really good running store that I have been to in the past. I will get some input and probably some shoes from them.

It would be best to get a Dr's opinion though-I am going to make an appointment with a PT that specializes in feet, gait, stance...etc.

Ouch!

I'm just bow legged, pigeon toed, and walk/run on the outside of my feet.  Oh, and my arches are like two stories high.

The doc might have some orthotics or whatever they are called that can help.

That's what I was thinking.  Even Super Feet do not have enough support for my arches.

I love the "tattoo"!  I might have to do that for my marathon (as long as people tell me to HTFU before).

Hi Team - just a quick update to let you know the challenge for next month (November) has already been posted here:

http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=136294&posts=1&start=1

Its all about hitting your workouts for the month and being run by the lovely Travis - all you need to do is commit to 20 workouts in the month, each a minimum of 30 minutes in duration.

What those workouts are - well thats up to you!!!

So, team, I know I should be at 50% by today and I am not. I promise that I will finish my goal by the end of the month. I missed some workouts early on because I was lazy and sick, but I will make up for it. I will not let my team down!

I would not have run either. I'm sure you will make up the miles at another time.
