ironannekidd - 2010-02-04 5:54 AM They're calling for snow this weekend. I think it's supposed to start sometime tomorrow and go into Saturday afternoon. I've seen several forecasts, anywhere from 7 to 20 inches. We'll have to wait and see.

I'm thinking I may run Friday when I get home so I can stay inside in the warm on Saturday.

I have a bit of a headache. I think I'm going to curl up in a ball under my desk and take a nap. That's where I'll be if you need me.

Can I bring you some hot tea???

givemashot - 2010-02-04 12:54 AM So I still haven't had a chance to go back and read--except for this page--but I wanted to say something:

GUESS WHAT!?!?!?! Today was our 14th wedding anniversary, and Hubby gave me my anniversary gift tonight. Well, sorta. He ordered it today and told me about it tonight. I am getting a brand spankin' new all carbon road bike!!!! It's pretty and black, and will have new speedplay pedals, and SRAM components, and ergonomic-shaped carbon handlebars with oh-so-sweet bar tape. (Guess what I got for my hubby? The same bike, only in his size, LOL). He took me out for ice cream after the kids were in bed tonight, and he kept drooling over all the new bike lanes on the newly resurfaced roads around our house. The only bike I currently have is my tri bike, and I've never owned a road bike, so this will be fun. Here's a pic:    http://www.javbike.com/Amarone.html I am looking forward to sharing this sport with my hubby. Of course, he still has to learn how to swim without sinking, then he has to get his core strength up enough to not re-injure his bad back (disc problem/surgery years ago).

I'm not spoiled or anything.

No you are not. Just being given your due!
SWEET bike!  I am very jealous of bike lanes, too. They are on existent in this part of the world.

ceilidh - 2010-02-03 4:32 PM Got my 6 in. Sometimes (most of the time) I really truly wonder if I can do a 1/2. I am hoping this gets easier as I lose some weight, Oh and keep up with the training.

You sure can Robin - you are a Ghoulie.  The training gets easier and so will the runs!

x2

Robin, I was also very uncertain when I signed up for my first half.  One of my gym friends, who has done several IM's, told me:  if you can run 6, you can run 7. if you can run 7, you can run 8.  And so on.  And he was right.  You just ran 6.  You can run a half.  Which one did you sign up for?

My first one is this April in Dupont State forest. It is on trails and VERY hilly. This one is probably a mistake but I figure I can just fade into the woods if I have to. The one I just signed up for is in St Pete, Fla in November. Flat flat flat. I like that! I can visit relatives while I am there, too.

I am hoping we get hammered, with snow that is,  Friday night.  I see snow shoeing in my plans for the weekend.

I am hoping we get more snow that all the stoopid ice they are predicting. Shoeshoeing could be fun! Wish I had some.

My first HM was also hilly.  I walked up them and wound up passing many runners who huffed their way up then were totally gassed.  It is totally ok to walk the tough hills when you need to.  St. Pete should be great in November.  Nice and flat and warm.

I'm here. It turns out it's a little scary under my desk and not so comfortable. I crawled up in my overhead for a bit but I didn't have a pillow or a blanket so I wasn't real comfortable. The cord for the heater under my desk wouldn't reach that far.

I told my friend that didn't think she could run a HM the same thing. She did great in Phoenix!
