That is the Neuvation made one.  I've heard pretty good things about it.

This got better reviews than the one on Nashbar though.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, as I see a winter of training on my bike.

Of course, I'm also throwing around the idea of a cheap Cyclocross bike to have fun and commute...what better way to bike in the fall/winter than getting out on a muddy course and mixing things up.

Same here, I've been watching some Ridleys and Redlines on Ebay.

There seems to be some pretty good deals on ebay.  I'm watching a few.  There are some decent frames also, if your wanting to build one up.

Think I've found a deal on a 1 year old Reynolds rear disc. Opinions on Reynolds? Thinking of pairing it with a HED 3 up front. Having found aq deal on the HED yet. Still looking.

You come to Augusta and B2B with new wheels you may force me to get one! LOL   I been thinking of getting some as well.  Anyone had any suggestions on renting wheels?  Is it worth it?  What kind of avg speed gain would I see?

He's asking $1k. But I could maybe even talk him down a hundred or so. Guy works at the LBS, so I think he takes pretty good care of his stuff. Plus, if it was a lemon, I know where to find him.

I was thinking of renting for those 2 races, but the shops around here that rent have already rented out all the good stuff. Most data says that on a good disc and aero front setup you gain 105 seconds or so. depends how fast you ride in general. I mainly just want to look cool! Wink

1. Tubular only.
2.  It's a flat disc, You could buy a Renn Disc brand new for 795.
3. Retail for a new one is 1500, so IMO its probably an okay deal at best.
4. You could buy a new HED Jet Disc for 50 more dollars.

For 1k get a wheel built up with a powermeter and get a wheel cover.  Same aerodynamics.  The power meter is a toy that keeps on giving.

They have packages around $900 for a wheel with power tap.  Not sure how much the a cover would cost.  I looked pretty hard at wheelbuilder before buying mine.  I ended up going with a quasi local shop because they gave a good deal it they're local.

I have the Kinlin XR-300/Elite PT package (used).  Nice wheel.  The wheelcover is $90.

Just bragging folks... looks like I may have a new T-pace for the swim. From today's lunch session:

2000 TT
#1 500/7:53
#2 1000/7:53
#3 1500/7:52
#4 2000/7:53

avg: 1:34
fast: #1/1:28
slow: #2/1:37

Could I be any more consistent on those 500s?

Anyone else racing this weekend?  I've got a little local reverse tri.  Too bad I can't take the foot off the gas and taper a bit.  I'm feeling so underprepared for my Oly next week.

Nothing this weekend, although I'm throwing around the idea of riding in the Hot Hundred out of Tuscaloosa, and doing the 40 mile option.

I'm feeling very underprepared for the Oly next week.  I know I'm slow, but I'm feeling like I'm not even going to be able to keep up.  I've been really down on my run lately, I just don't seem to be improving at all, even though I"m trying to increase my mileage and consistancy.  At this point, the 6.2 mile run at the end of the OLY just doesn't sound like fun.

Overall I had a pretty crappy run.  I finish 5 minutes of my last 10k from April.  I was definitely better rested for that but one (my quads are still a little sore from the ride yesterday) but I also didn't run a very smart race tonight.

Started out WAY too fast.  My pace as 6:30-6:45 at some points.  I tried to reign it in a little but large parts of the first mile were down hill so I told myself it was OK.  After that I just had a slow decline and my average pace for each mile just started to go up.  I was just beat.

What can I learn from this?

1) I definitely went out too fast.  My goal pace was aggressive (7:15) but my last 10k was at 7:20 and I felt if I could hold this I could probably hold 7:45 off the bike in Sept so I wanted to test it.  I think going out too fast really hurt me and I wasn't able to test this theory.  If the pace was too aggressive I would have expected to hold it for, say, the first half then start to slip or blow up.  Instead it started to slip right away.

2) I intended to use the "Virtual Partner" on the garmin to pace myself.  Instead I paced off the pace display.  I didn't look at the VP until about the 4 mile mark.  I think this cause me to get off and then I couldn't recover.  I knew I was slipping before I started to look at it but feel that if I had been checking it throughout the run that I could have made small corrections as I went. As it turned out I was 2:30 minutes off pace at the 4 mile mark and by then it was too late to do anything about it.  Chalk that up to learning to use my new tool/toy.

I need to continue doing 10k (and probably 5k and 15k, too) to gain experience and learn to push myself.

Drew, I'm still going to say good race! Awesome times in my opinion!

At least you learned something in your race. That's why we do it, to learn. As much as I tell myself to slow it down, or build, the run is the hardest thing for me to control. Case in point, this morning's 5miler was way too fast. The first 3 were sub 9, and after that I just blew up and was fighting to hold it together. I need to get better at the pacing too.

And to answer Bama's Q, no races this weekend, just last weekend before the oly, so I'll definitely get a good run/ride in, but that's about it. And no, I'm not prepared for the Oly (29th) either. The run portion is the "dark cloud over my head".

You guys are fast!!!

No races for me til Sept. Passed on that Reynolds. What do you guys think about the HED wheel with PT hub and a disc cover on wheelbuilder? I'm leaning towards that or the Kinlin.

This one:

http://www.wheelbuilder.com/store/hed-powertap-package.html

I've already got an Edge, so all I need is the PT Hub.  Would like to have a carbon wheel though. Just don't know what the hell to buy. Undecided It's a big investment either way. Wanna make sure i get the right wheel.

Anyone can be fast for a short period of time.  If you look at my average pace for each mile it's very unimpressive...

They went something like this:

Mile 1: 6:55/mile,
Mile 2: 7:32,
Mile 3: 7:50,
Mile 4: 8:15,

well, you get the point.
