Great job last (night for me) by the way! I blamed the Ghoulies for the 200 notifications in my inbox, meanwhile it was our team. turn off the email notifications in your settings. makes life a whole lot easier. I learned that in Nibbs where we used to go through 30 pages in a few hours |

I just allowed wiggle room in case I wasn't feeling it by picking the # I did there. Good stuff! What drills do you do to stay motivated in the pool? the fact that it's my only cardio these days. I tore my gastrocs in August and it is being really stubborn about healing. Yeah I saw that. It sucks that your stuck in the water, but it's a good opportunity for technique improvement. I would benefit from being locked in a pool for a couple months - but definatly don't wish for an injury to send me there! My swimming sucks. I want a coach or masters club so bad but I am one of the unemployed statistics looking for a job. The sad part is I'm very qualified and ready to work!! |

Read through the ghoulies post, they realise they need to be ahead of us by "5pm" as that's when we start posting. They also think they have stamina and can outlast us. My part might be holding back the percentage a little bit because I run Tues, Thurs, Sun (which means only 2 runs logged to date) and the plank component is slow and steady being completed daily. I have everything scheduled out to finish 100%. Is everyone else progressing as expected to crush the Ghoulies? Nope. Need to readjust for continuing recovery. I just got up this morn an had bkfst and started posting, but I think I need a nap. Jakarta was a bit of a storm and now today is when I'm really exhausted. |

Personally, I'm done for the year. I've got a sprint in early Dec (tri season just starting out here), a century ride this weekend and a fight in 9 days. Think I'll see how training goes over the next month (need some swimming improvement) and then I'll see what other races to plan for the season. A century ... that's hard core! I'm very excited about your fight! Sooooo much fun ... I can't even think of any good tips and I used to coach competition martial arts ... same as tri, HAVE FUN!!! Be vested in the journey and the experience, not the outcome. ha ha, well I can't lie, I love the training and the experience but I will be VERY upset if I lose....so I don't plan to! The century will be fun too, with some of my running friends. Its technically not a race as the roads aren't all closed but I suspect my competitive nature will take over.... |

We do an iceberg swim here in the middle of Winter (end of June), no ice though thank goodness. I'm hoping to start swimming in the bay this Summer and just keep swimming at least once a week so I get acclimatised to it bit by bit We get some of the Aussies who want to swim the English Channel move to Melbourne to swim in the bay over winter as it's supposed to be the same as swimming the actual channel temp wise. |

A-ha! So what IS the plan to win? |

Move down under, we have better weather to compliment our current "war for talent" I almost came to teach in Australia actually! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to, but my husband won't leave Ontario. I did a 1 month internship in China - another place that needs teachers. (I am a certified High School Teacher, Kinesiologist, and Personal Trainer... sitting at home) Make your husband employ you! Don't know how Canada works ... any chance you could teach Health or Intro Biology at a private school or something? Are there openings for indoor cycling instructors anywhere? I never thought about the indoor cycling... I am certified to teach Physical Education and Family Studies (home economics + health) but they are both optional in schools for the most part which means harder to get a job. Phys Ed optional in North America... don't get me started... How about at a gym as a fitness trainer or with a Physical therapy office as an aide? It wouldn't pay as much as teaching but would use your background well. |
