Had a great bike last night! 15 miles at about a 20mph pace. Felt great!

Swimming this morning feeling better. It is all starting to feel alot better. Definitely more confident then when I started 3 1/2 weeks ago!

Cheers everyone!

Pretty solid man! 20 MPH is great... I'm glad to hear you're doing better. Did you end up signing up for either of those two triathlons?

Not yet(damn, I shouldn't have said anything Smile)

Need to find out my son's lacrosse playoff schedule as I am the coach of his team. For some reason they expect me to show up for the games...

That's cool... I played LAX in College and HS. I love that sport, I play in my Alumni Games and enjoy. What position does he play? I played Midfielder and Attack. My Frosh year, I played "D" Middie.

He is 8 and plays box lacrosse so there isn't much for positioning. I love watching him play. Great exercise. Glad we made the switch from soccer to lacrosse!

That's great! That was my first 1/2 Mary as well. Other than the Patriot HIM I did last year. Where I basically was pleading with myself to get to each light pole. I'm not a runner at all!

Running is easily my weakest discipline. Even with training I can put in some killer swims and bikes and the next day feel decent but runs take so much more out of me.

Well seems like the run is your limiter...  I totally agree with you though, however I run and nothing really happens. I just don't like run. If I had to pick one discipline to make excuses on, would be running without a doubt.

I always wished I had played so in my early 30's a friend and I joined an indoor league which is played more like hockey but we had a blast. We played a few seasons.

That's so awesome... A 9 year old did the Mock triathlon with his Mother this past weekend and was so funny watching him bike. He also ran the 2.8 miles in a great time as well.  His mother is a beast at Triathlons. She's a local elite athlete.  You're son is going to do awesome as well.

Sorry about Hockey... By far the most expensive sport at an early age especially when they are growing.

Apparently, I picked the right group as I hate running as well! At 6' 205, I was not meant to run, unless chased by a bear...

I work in technology so not surprisingly I'm a bit of a data geek and I love going through my Garmin numbers and comparing. So back in March I ran the Quincy half marathon and on Monday I ran nearly the same route. There were actually a few disadvantages on Monday. No traffic details so I got stuck at a few lights. It was 25 degrees warmer. In March there was almost no wind and Monday the entire second half was with a wind in my face. March was sunny as could be. Monday the roads were wet from the start and it was misty. The entire second half I got rained on and miles 7 and 8 it was pretty hard.

Obviously the second half of the half Mary I was starting to pick up the pace but the point is you can see the lower heart rate with increased speeds throughout. I highly recommend doing this exercise. It is so worth the 15 minutes you'll invest. Its such great motivation and I bet everybody without exception will look at the data and be like WOW I knew I had improved but not that much!!!

Had a great bike last night! 15 miles at about a 20mph pace. Felt great!

Swimming this morning feeling better. It is all starting to feel alot better. Definitely more confident then when I started 3 1/2 weeks ago!

Cheers everyone!

20mph!  Wow that's fast bro!  What kinda bike is it again?  I can't remember if you said it was a CF (carbon fiber) frame.  Do you happen to know how much it weighs? =)

After years of casual biking, I got the clips this year and love them.  I found that I am someone that pulls as much as pushes on the pedals with the clips.  Every time I bike it seems so much easier now with the clips.  You will love them.  Only had 1 crash the first time I used them and I couldn't really qualify it as a crash. I had only unclipped my left foot, stopped, big wind, just feel over....humiliated. Quick look, no observers.  Lesson learned, always unclip both feet and I do this if I am approaching a road or somewhere I might need to do a quick stop.

Let us know how it goes.

Roland - I am with you, I really, really want the garmin (301xt) but am working hard on impulse control.  I am trolling the www nightly looking for the sweet deal that will make my dreams come true.

Everlong - do you have the 405? Do you have any problems with running in the rain? sweat? how long have you had it?

Going to run easy 3.5 (hopefully between rain showers) and do a swim later tonight.

Linda, it's the 310xt,  If you are going to get one, I do suggest getting the 310xt, it's the only water proof they have. It's awesome... I have a 405, 705, and a 310xt and only use the 310xt for my triathlons. Use the 705 for most of my biking, and most of my runs I like my 405. If it's raining I don't use the 405.. The Touch screen is very sensitive

"Training is like fighting a gorilla, You don't stop when you're tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired"

Greg Anderson

Felt like fighting a gorilla last night at the pool.  1700 after recovery week wow!  Swimming might be my limiter.  I feel so slow!  I'm certain that the TI drills I'm doing are helping since I noticed my lap times are slowly improving every week.  My gorilla was the person sharing the lane with me last night and I swear, he was doing the breaststroke and I almost gulped a gallon of water whenever I had to breathe when we passed each other. >.<

It is a Trek 5200 Carbon, about 12 or so years old. Picked it up for $100 from a lawyer who already had another newer better bike. A sweet deal! Not sure how much it weighs but it is a hell of lot lighter then my 10 yr old mountain bike!

New here, and to any tri community.  Scott invited me to join, and I'm always a fan of group inspiration.  I posted a thread about my background in the introduce yourself section.  Look forward getting to know you all.  Brief history:

2010: Did a mini-man, and then a Sprint in 1:29.  Doing the same sprint on June 5, another Sprint in August, and Oly in Sept. and a 70.3 in October.

In January 2010, I had never run a mile in my life (late 30s) so this is all new, and I got into Tris looking for a sport to enjoy and help me stay healthy and less fat.
