LOL a few days of not getting posts and I'm missing out on peeing dogs and melon piles! Clearly I need to check in more :-). So I have been feeling off and doing squat. I will be back at it shortly and will be keeping my logs up to date I promise. I have been VERY bad at that for quite some time now. Also, I registered as a volunteer for LP yesterday!! Beyond excited. I'm also on Facebook if anyone wishes to add me - Deborah Kelly (Boston ma)

OK, so I failed again in trying to upload a photo of my dogs.  I admit failure.  I'm such a nerd!!  My boys are not here till this weekend and would appreciate any help (would prefer to get answer from group rather than see my boys "roll their eyes" as they show me how to do this in one second).

Good run tonight while watching the Sugar Bowl.  Originally had a swim planned but life did not work out for this.  Ended up having a very good run.  I often vary my plan do to my schedule, but really do my best to at least get volume and consistency.

I really appreciate all the inspires!!!  I have been training solo for most of my career and it's great to have your inspires as they do motivate me!!  You guys rock and I'm proud to be a Manatee!!!  Jim

Ha ha, I love this.  When I did Racine 70.3 last summer, my two favorite signs during my run (death march) was a sign that read, "Be the Honey Badger".  The other favorite sign was a life size cut out of the dos equis guy with him holding a sign that said, "stay hydrated my friends".

That is amazing! I love that guy. He's just...so...interesting!

I went to an exercise conference yesterday that was given by one of our cardiac research PhD's.  Latest data shows that the #1 cause of heart related death is from sitting jobs/primarily sitting all day.  This statistic is not influenced by leisure time training at a gym, not even marathon training.  It is all related to how you spend the majority of your day.  I am going to keep track of how many minutes I actually sit on my fat a$$ today.  I think it will be shocking.  I have a primary sitting job and what do I do when I get home, if I am not working out, I sit.  What do I do in the evening after the dishes are washed and the laundry is done, I sit.  I am pretty sure that I sit more than anything.  Time to make some lifestyle changes!!

Sitting trumped smoking and obesity.  Wow!

I'm an attorney and whether I'm in court or in the office, I sit a lot.  So, I guess it's a good thing I get up about a million times a day to reheat my coffee!  But seriously, did your cardiac guy provide any suggestions for those of us who do have jobs that require a lot of sitting?  Does getting up and moving around during the course of the day help or are we doomed

When you reply, look for this near the Submit button at the bottom.  Note the Attach File After Posting option.

Or use the picture of the tree in the tool bar at the top if the photos is already on the net somewhere (can't upload files using the tree icon but can link to them).

I am on week 6 of my plan, but this morning i realised that i had looked at week 7 when i was checking out the times/distances i needed to run etc. for Monday and Tues.

I found that i was able to do the distances so should i just keep going at week 7 pace or should i wind it back as i have only done two days.

Still off the cigarettes and have now joined the gym so i can keep training in the bad weather. Things are going  really well at the moment and i cant wait for the swim & run this afternoon.

I'm an adherent of the "listen to you body" school of thought.  If you still feel pretty good after doing the week 7 mileage/pace, then I don't see any reason for not moving from there.  If, on the other hand, the week 7 pace left you wiped and your body screaming for mercy, I'd dial it back.  No use pushing yourself beyond what you can handle and risking injury.

I used to be a "run through it" guy and ended up injuring myself which led to a 15 year lay-off.  After finally coming back last year I'm keen to "listen" to every squeak, creek, and pop my body is using to tell me to back off.  Right now I'm taking a break because I tweaked my knee on Saturday.  That and Ab Ripper X (curse you!) on Monday has left me with no hip flexors to walk with, much less run.

I agree. And if/when you hit a week that's more difficult, or you weren't able for whatever reason to do all the workouts, you can repeat that week.

Also 100% agree on the listen-to-your-body. You've got the rest of your whole life to build up, train, achieve your dreams. Better to underdo by a lot than overdo by a little.

Of course this is theory; my practice leaves something to be desired ...

BWAH HA HAHA HA!

That is just awesome.

I'm in an online meeting right now based in the U.S. (not paying attn but oh well). At midnight, I will work out. So aiming to be in bed by 2-3am ... I know, awful, but that's improvement for me.

I've tried to catch up, but I may have missed a melon pile and some puppy photos.  I'll do better, I promise.

Still stuck at 10 lb on the weightloss.  I go back to the doc next week to see how much better my cholesterol, BP, and sugars are.  I have high hopes.  I still need to drop (or re-distribute) 30 lbs.

Just signed up for a 5k on the 21st of Jan.  Better get crack-a-lacking on the wogging!

holy spiders, lizards, and snakes bat man!

I finally caught up. good thing work is slow or I would still be in the weeds on the forum. I must say, I am not fond of snakes or lizards or spiders for that matter. I do so love the puppies and admire all the pics posted. Sweet babies!

Some of you know me and some of you don't-so...a little bio.

Personal: I am Holly-married 32 years in April. ( I feel confident on making this mark..!) My hubby, Jeff is my sherpa and sometime swim and bike buddy. He no run. He has one bad knee and one fully replaced. So-he no run. He is supportive and a great cheerleader though. And again-super sherpa.

I have been completely off training and pretty much off life for the last 3 months. Had a bad family tragedy and I am just trying to piece things back together. Smoking again....drat-soon to quit again....drat. Counseling and soul searching and figuring out how to go forward have been a big part of the last couple months. I went from being one of those people that felt so very blessed to the exact opposite in one fell swoop. I am working on it daily and it's tough.

Tri stuff: Been triing for 3 years, I think or is it 4...this should be my 4th-maybe 5th. Hmmm. The mind is the first thing to go when you hit the big 5-0 - which I just did. Gawd! Really? How the hell did I get to be 50?? Started out trying to get in shape again and quit the ciggies and kinda got hooked. Dragged some friends into it and for the most part, they have dropped out-but still sometimes work out with me. Mostly I do this solo, so the mentor group is a treat!

Last year completed my first 2 olys. One was great-one sucked eggs. And a couple of sprints, which were awesome with the oly training. I felt like a superstar! Got a new road bike last year and that was a big help. Still no aerobars...not sure if at this distance I need them though.

Goals for 2012...I signed up for 2 OLYs-one in June and the other in Sept and have just started back with the 5 month 2X oly plan modified to work out 4 days per week....lots of bricks-but I find I need more than 1 or 2 rest days a week - so I am hoping this works out. I plan on adding some runs and a couple of sprints and have some hopes of hiking a 14er or 2 this summer.

Thanks for having me late to the party. I promise not to be a party pooper!

Haha, yes, want to come? We are actually down a runner so I'll be helping take additional mileage.
