Hey folks.  Quickie race report.  I finished my 12K today in 54:58 per my Garmin.  Official results to be released soon, but if it's close to this, then I have a 12K PR by 46 seconds.  And this is a course PR because I ran this course 2 years ago when I was learning to run again.  I did it back then in 1:11 and some change. So it's a course PR of about 16:44 seconds.  That's a nice improvement I think. Thought I would share that WORK works!

So the weather here in Chi Town is unreal.  We've been in the 80's for several days!  Usually March is very dreary and cold. Leaves are coming out on the trees, Magnolia trees in bloom. All this spring growth is about 1 month early.  It's crazy!

So, I took my bike out last Friday for the first outdoor ride of the season...in shorts and a short sleeve shirt.  And I rode outside today too.  It was glorious!  All this crazy warm weather...we are either in a VERY early spring...or we are going to pay BIG TIME in April by having our March weather then.  Guess I'll enjoy it while I can.

I took your advice and am taking a few days off to rest up my ankle problem.  I am going to a running store this weekend to have a gait test done.  When I bought my running shoes, I went to our local sporting goods store, told them about my knee and he recommended the shoe I bought (Asics Gell 1140).  My run club director told me that was a stupid way to buy my running shoe.  So hopefully this might solve the problem.

Oh, and the next time 'running boy' calls you stupid, smack him right across the jaw.

LOL...well 'running boy' is a woman, and my mommy raised me to good to hit a woman.  Besides she really didnt call me stupid...just that how I bought my shoes was stupid.  She's right, I am usualy so investigative about things that I Google and explore all options first.  Guess I was just in a rush to get started.

Yep it's pretty exciting... keep enjoying it!

Doing well here. Into week 2 of my tri program and feeling much more "in control" now that I have a schedule to follow each day. The weather is beautilful in Minnesota, broke out the bikes this week. What a difference the wind and actual hills play into your workout-I love it! Also doing the 100 pushup challenge, one week left until I take my final test to see if I can complete 100 consecutive pushups (I started at 16 pushups 5 weeks ago). Hope everyone is dong well.

Fantastic! Pushups are tough... I'm so impressed!

Thank you!!  7.46 miles.  There aren't that many, but here in SF there are 2 big ones.  This one and the Bay to Breakers run in May which I've been doing yearly.  It's a nice distance for a race.

The biggest!  2 years ago, the sponsor's bailed on the race because it was just too crazy.  People were urinating in the streets and doing other unmentionable things.  Then last year with more restrictions in place the race organizers secured new sponsors so it's more tame now, but still over 25K people show up on race morning so it is still a blast.

We'll have 25,000+ at the MB Corporate run in Miami this year. It's an amazing run!

The Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta gets 60,000!!! It's a 10k and I'd love to do it, but my husband just looks at me like I've got 9 heads every time I mention it. We have a place in Roswell GA... so we could take the train... I'm going to do it...

60,000!  I thought the Chicago Marathon with 45,000was crazy.   The first time I ran it I was in the open corral and it took about 25 minutes just to get to the start.

Yes, Chicago was experiencing very atypical weather the past couple of weeks.  In fact one day last week the high temp was 87! So I was riding outside, it was glorious.  Now, this week, I'm on spring break, so of course the weather sucks. High today in the mid 40's and sleet. UG!  AND, to add insult to injury, I started getting getting a cold Friday and spent last night trying to sleep upright because every time I lay down I would begin to cough.  Needless to say I didn't get much sleep and feel like crap today.  Spring break.....

While the weather was wonderful until this weekend, I did not make out that much.  I am currently tied to early morning workouts except for the weekends and it is still too dark in the AM.

How is everyone's training going?

Well I took a little over a week off to rest up and try to heal.  Still having problems with my left heel.  Its pretty tender and sore.  It seems to spread the pain up my shins and into the center of my foot.

So tonight I took a spin class at the gym.  All I can say is wow.  What a work out.  I havent had a work out that intense in a long time.  I really liked it.  The insturcter is a 75yr old guy, such a trip, a real cool guy....and man can he ride lol.  45 minutes and I can feel the burn...I love this class...to bad I can only attend one time a week.
