I've been slacking a bit on keeping up with all the posts, but it is neat to see all the enthusiasm and great training/racing happening.

Mike - Congrats on finishing your HIM. Sorry to hear about the death march at the end, but you persevered!

MItzi - Congrats on finishing your race too! A tri is no small feat, and it sounds like the sand mixed with dodging tree roots and horse poo during the run made it even harder. I'm a backstroker during the swim, but I hope to find the confidence to flip over and put my head down and get it done like you did. Congrats again!!

Looks like Samantha is doing well. She is hitting her paces and looks like she has left herself plenty of time for the run. Hopefully her leg is holding up and the nutrition is going well so she can finish strong.

Grats Mitzi way to hang in there and get it done. Now you know what you need to work on for next time 8). If you had sat out would have been a sad day not a happy day 8).

Samantha is right on pace through the swim bike and so far on the run, Go Samantha you got dis! She only needs an 18:45 mpm pace to get this done with 15.2 miles to go.

WOW - it's hard to figure out, but does it say she's 95/2014? Holy cr*p!
Wonder how she's feeling?

Mitzi, woohoo!! Ya did it! Sounds like a rough obstacle course for the run. And I hear ya with the frustration of a one-piece tri suit. Learned that lesson last year! Haha. Gonna ck in in Miss Samantha! You guys are awesome.

Mitzi, love your new avatar! You are looking good! I think those numbers her division rank and overall rank without showing what the total number of competitors is. Samantha is continuing to do great on her journey...past the 11 mile mark now!

Spent the weekend in Bryan, TX visiting my friend. We had a wonderful time catching up. Still processing the whole thing and having a fresh bout of sadness over the injustice of it. Jay, your advice was spot on, and I'm so grateful for it. Did get in a really nice swim at an outdoor pool while there, and discovered a great place to run near the hotel. Working my return to running plan and also a plan to get back to swimming a mile straight.

Catching up on posts and see that our two ladies have done/are doing fantastic with their races!

Mitzi: Kudos to you! You faced your fears twice...getting out there and finishing the swim...but you got it done! Be proud of your accomplishment! If you feel more comfortable doing another sprint than trying an olympic than go for it! As Steve said many times to us during our MASH unit times...triathlon is a lifestyle.

Samantha: I know you won't read this until you've become an ironman but you're looking great. You look like you've got a nice 14min pace on your run...which puts you at the finish line in plenty of time. I've been praying for you to enjoy your experience today and keep healthy during the race. I can't wait to hear the details.

Carol: I'm glad your visit went well with your friend and my advice helped. I understand the feeling of sadness (especially with the details you've shared about your friends incarceration) but we need to trust in the Lord and in his ability to turn a negative into a positve.

That's all I've got for now. Hope everyone is doing well....its time for me to get my mind right and refocus on training/diet! Tomorrow, its on

Go Samantha still on pace after 15.5 miles.... she has 3:40:00 left to cover 10.7 miles, she has this. Gonne be a great RR I can tell.

You can actually watch her cross the finish line with my guess of 10:30:00 PST. Will know more when she gets farther in the course to fine tune that.

Opps she picking up the pace cut 1 min off her last 4.4 miles.... 10:20-10:25 ish she in her last 2 miles. I am watching the live feed now.

WOOT just saw Samantha cross the finish line smiling 15:51:15. Way to go! A solid 30 min faster than expected held her pace through the entire race with a kick at the end very nice.

Hello all my dear online peeps! Reading all your posts was just as fun as doing the race! I'm so thankful for all of you!

Steve- you were so very right about my training being enough.

Mitzi - I am so very proud of you for stepping up to the starting line, then carrying out your plan and finishing! You did very well. The frustrations are always there and you handles them and kept going. Great job!

I'm home. Very tired and even more sore. I'll give all the gory details when I'm not About to fall asleep.

Thanks to all of you again!

Just realized I have another race this weekend. Its our local town sprint, and I'm treating it like a training day. I'm out for a good time, and get in a decent work out. Not long enough for any 1 sport, so I'll probably do a long run later in the day to get the schedule moving forward.

Feeling like I"m finally recovered from last weeks HIM, and am finalizing my ramp plan for the next HIM in 8 weeks. Have teh sprint, and Oly races upcoming which I'm treating like training days. Also taking Steves advice and building in more frequent runs, with a longer weekend run.

Did some kayaking while away the past few days and it is really a good workout. Very much a swimming like use of upper body muscles, and I really enjoyed it. May need to do this more often. Did a short run while away, too. Running tonight.
