Ran 2 miles today. Bought new running shoes & new tennis shoes. Hubby bought new hiking and motorcycle boots. It was a shoe shopping day. We both also got new glasses. I guess I better go and see what has happened on the last 8 pages of nibbins posts. Does any page have an update? |

Im really prone to blisters anyway... so it might just be that combined with the heat and humidity here but my feet are happy to be free from them right now! I am assuming that you are following the recommended "acclimation" process of gradually using the orthotics, etc.? Pressure on your foot is definitely going to change, which could cause blisters if you are blister prone. And, obviously, the rest of your body is going to need to adjust to your modified posture, as well. |

Expert 715 Twin Cities | Subject: RE: They Who Shall Not Be Named (Twisnibbins) III Hey, all, I promised a summary of my Chirunning clinic. I even tried out the technique at the gym last night, so I used the technique for 90 minutes of running yesterday. Let me begin by saying that I am incredibly sore today, in core muscles that I do not normally use quite so much for running. As the name implies, it is about embracing the philosophy of T'ai Chi... not meeting force with force, and harnessing the Chi (Qi) energy that is in all of us. And, to use gravity to move you forward, rather than your legs to muscle you forward. The key is proper alignment and engaging your core muscles. Neutral pelvis so as to not "spill the chi". We did some partner drills to emphasis just how strong this posture makes us, without much effort, at all. And, I like the technique, but it is definitely going to take practice, practice, practice. I had not read the book prior to the seminar, so I picked it up yesterday and started reading it last night (why I wasn't on the thread). Danny Dreyer, author, states that it takes a good 1-3 months to really become comfortable with the technique. And, my instructor from yesterday, reminded us that, as written in the book, it is all about FDS: Form, Distance, Speed. To learn the technique you will need to back off on distance and speed to perfect the form. Then work on distance, then speed will pretty much follow because you "shift gears" by "adding more lean"... So, I do recommend the clinic (it was only $120 here in MN for a five hour class). |

Hope everyone has a great Sunday (ummm, sorry Cat, I know it's almost over for you!).

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: They Who Shall Not Be Named (Twisnibbins) III Hi Nibbins, hey, I got to ride my bike today Never know what I'll squeeze in on my weekend to work...So if I change jobs it would be a Mon-Fri gig doing insurance reviews and such. Part of me wants to try it and part of me would hate doing nothing but paperwork all day (does that make me schizophrenic?) But I've been in the field a LONG time and have worked W/E, off shifts, holidays...the whole thing for 30+ years and would like to have a job I can leave at the end of the day. Training around it could get interesting, but I see a whole lot of othe people handling training around a regular schedule like that so it's not an excuse... |
