I love getting 20 miles done before sunrise : )

Time to walk Marley then ICE.

And she's back!! Linda, you are truly amazing.

David - Thanks for the beautiful pics. I'll just pretend I'm running down that beach when I'm running through the corn fields in the rain today.

Awesome Linda.  I do those 20 mile pre-sunrise runs a lot....then I wake up and head for the coffee.   Nice to see you getting back into the swing of things.

Hi, just been away for a few days staying in an old lighthouse keepers cottage; fantastic place surrounded by national park and only accessible by driving for an hour up a deserted beach, felt like being in a different world but only an hour and a half from home. We saw a pod of 15 Minke whales below the cliff as we had brekky yesterday and the evening before had dolphins swimming almost within touching distance down at the beach.

No racing for me, just realised it's now 5 weeks till the Noosa Tri so I need to add a bit more intensity to my training, my knee is almost healed but I don't dare push it too much so my running's going to be my weak point...

GOOD LUCK RACERS!

PS I'd love to give that hill climb a go!

David that looks so beautiful there!!

X2....you are one lucky guy.

I love that you are BACK!!!  It had to be hard at times to have the patience to completely heal ......  in fact, I think we need a RR about the "how I was going crazy" stories!!!

Oh, how about them Brewers!  Milwaukee has been waiting for any kind of title for 29 years.  (I kind of remember the last one, I was a freshman in high school!)  Quite the celebration going on still this morning!!!

For those of you who were looking for something challenging to do next, check out this site:

http://www.redbullxalps.com/

I saw a 2 hour summary this evening because there were two Japanese athletes participating.  The 2-3 top finishers are incredible athletes (and totally wacko too).    It was good for my wife to see the program.  Triathlons have moved a little lower on the "craziness" scale.

Nice job on the pre-dawn run, Linda!

Beautiful bike, John!

good luck to all the racers!

I'm heading out on my bike soon, aiming for 90ish.   starting to get a wee bit worried - tweaked my knee at Costco after already  having knee and ankle pain.  Cut way back on the running, but I'm supposed to do the RnR HM with my son next weekend, and then there's that little end-of-season event in 8 weeks and one day.  To quote Kim,  AYIH!  (Did I get that right?!)

WSH I was on that beach down under!!  My boys are camping at the beach this weekend.....but they've called, and it's COLD!!!

Linda! Take care of that knee and to quote my twin, Eye On The Prize...if next weekend is going to make things worse, you know what you need to do. Sounds like Zach is on his own mission these days, Mr. Stud triathlete! To quote myself would be weird, but it is AIYAH, pronounced EYE-Yahhhhh. It says temps are dropping this weekend by up to 30f in some areas! Stay warm on your ride!

Swam the race course a couple hours ago. Short and sweet-no weeds. Air temp 50 degrees, water is 67 degrees. I had the lake all to myself. Very nice :-) Still raining.... The dogs woke us on a regular basis - like every 30 minutes. Seems they don't like hearing coyotes. Hopefully they will be tired tonight. I know I will be.

Geez, you guys are packing the MG with posts these days!  Don't you know some of us have been without Internet for 48 hours!

Linda--I had to give Kim the lecture over that long run with the bad ankle, don't make me give it to you too!  Really there is not a single workout worth it if you aren't healthy at the line.

Linda--nice bike!  Can I be the mom once again?  Is it wise to do a 20 mile run after a stress fracture has just healed?  I had no where near that mileage in a single run for more than 6 months after it was healed.

David--are you hosting an MG encounter anytime soon?  I swear you have the best looking place to live of any of us by a longshot!

Dineen--what was the big birthday present this year?  the Brewers victory?

I said my final good-bye to the old house today.  I was trying to decide if there was anything I would miss about it or living in that neighborhood.  I didn't come up with a thing so the move must be right!

Linda 1: You really don't want to be on the other end of Minnow's lectures, especially not in front of your S.O. who will gang up on you with "what's up with that... i told you so!"  believe me, it is not fun...luckily that didn't happen until the ride to the airport AFTER the IM...

Linda 2: Suzy didn't hear that this may have very well been a "shoelace" issue...I think she is still under the impression it was a fracture...please share what the wonky doc shared with you!

eta:  today's google celebrates Jim Henson--go check out google, it's cute!

Au contraire, I did hear that from "someone", but I am still concerned.  An MRI doesn't necessarily show a fracture.  The most concrete way to determine it is through a bone scan.  Usually if the MRI is inconclusive that is the next step, but an expensive one for insurance.  I bypassed the MRI and went straight to the thing that would determine it.   It was clear as day what I had.  Not saying Linda's doc is wrong, just sayin' a tiny bit of caution isn't a bad thing when it comes to broken bones.....lecture over.

Peace and quiet......  No, really still looking at a set of 50mm carbon clinchers for the roadie, or a possible replacement for the roadie.  Yup, seriously looking at a Cervelo R3 or S2, or a Felt F4.  Not in any hurry as I have been working with the shop that I do some part work with.  We will see what kind of deal they can cut me on the right bike.  Might be a BMC, it might turn into a Christmas present?  Who knows.

Suzy, you are so right, not to push it after an injury!! My diagnosis was not a stress fracture though (I think you missed it a few wks. ago), something about tight laces "yada yada".

You are an amazing athlete and MG friend & thank you for looking out for me! Smile

Must last at least 4 months, huh?  As I mentioned just a few posts back, it is pronounced

eye-yah, not hi-yah!

Here is the best description I can find...seems maybe my spelling should be Aiya and no h at the end!

I love pretty much everything in this person's description of our 24k gold term!  I wonder if every culture has such a term that can describe so many things so succinctly.

Hey MG. A lot to say and no time. Just wanted to say that tomorrow's bike course , while only 9.8 miles is BRUTAL! Hill and 90 degree turns and busy intersections. All of the downhill end in hairpin turns so you lose all the speed! Also very little shoulder. Finally lots of gnats! Gonna be a blast!

PS the large dead opossum on the first steep climb is a bonus!

You all are awesome.  Truly helping me to pull back a bit.  I've decided that I need my own MRI or bone scan machine to help me decide if I'm hurt, or I hurt.  Big difference!!

Today's ride hurt just a bit, but my buddies helped to keep it less hilly - a good thing.  Tomorrow's run wil be solo (less pressure) and close to home, so I can turn back if need be.  Next week's HM is still iffy....we'll see.  Zach got 8th of 211 today in his cc meet - he doesn't need to race me!!

and Kim......Maverick is camping with the boys.  No critter prevention!!!  Yell
