lol isnt it funny when you haven't got a workout booked and you've chosen to ignore a routing because your rushed off your feet that you probably get more workout ins than you would normally. I think it's because I feel guilty that I haven't been out and also the weather was lush today (cold but sunny)

I went out on my bike, on an unplanned route - very dangerous I ended up going up a very steep hill where I had to walk the steepest past which moved my time to slow. I also learnt cyclign isn't my strongest point like I thought it was going to be - I used to be an avid rider when I was younger hadn't done it in years and thought I could just pick it up easily - if today is anything to judge by I have a lot of work to do before september.

My aim is 20km in 40mins, except today I was out for 37.53 and only did 7.75 - although I did go up a long steep hill but that is no excuse. At least I know where i am at and I feel great that I got out and about :D

mbasta - 2011-02-28 5:32 PM Here is the challenge my team the Crushers are putting on in the Challenge Forum! We welcome all of you. This is a perfect starter challenge. You decide your goals, so the challenge will fit everyone's shedule and level of training.

Took your suggestion on the challenge forum and found one for next year right up my alley, "Crappy Winter Weather Challenge. I'll have to check out the Crushers.

I did the Crappy Winter Weather Challenge this year! I will see you there next winter.

Heh, I moved south, so that I don't have to deal with Crappy Winter Weather and its challenges!

Hm, how to explain? OK......

Every month, there is at least one Challenge in the Challenge forum. And some months, the teams are chattier than other months.....

The Ghoulies were a *really* chatty team. They stayed together as a team for the next several challenges.

They became the 'team to beat,' -- and so another team named themselves the "Ghoulie Crushers" (aka 'Crushers.')

So if you go into the Challenge forum, you'll see both Ghoulies and Crushers threads.

If you want to join the Crushers' March Challenge -- just go there and let 'em know you'd like to join. It's sort of like arriving while a conversation is in progress, but they welcome newcomers so don't hesitate to post something in the thread.

I would have liked to do the March Challenge, but I think I need to figure out how to breath without wheezing and coughing.... So I'm sitting out this month.

Glad to hear that you got a good ride in! Maybe make that hill one of your training goals - to complete without walking.

Are you a Ghoulie Dee? I know that you came onto the Crusher team in the past few challenges when the Ghoulies weren't playing.

Nope, I was the one who organized the challenge though. It was a Halloween challenge, and I set up the teams. They named themselves the Ghoulies. (Hm, ok - I looked it up. I was on the E.V.I.L. Running Reapers that month. Hahaha, Yanti and Jen (Artemis) were on my team too.)

I had just started a new job, so I took some time off from participating in the challenges after that. When I came back, I wasn't a Ghoulie, so I tossed myself onto the Crushers. LOL

Actually, I'm a Nibb, another challenge team formed sometime in 2007.

Looks like the workouts are progressing and people are doing well. Way to go everyone!! Even some of our sick, injured, and crazy busy are back at it. Yay!

My workouts took a dip this week - knee issues. It's been chronically intermittent (sounds like oxymoron, doesn't it?) for years - both knees. Fine one minute, incapacitated the next, then all of sudden, fine again. Episodes last few hours to few days. Finally went in for eval this week; waiting on MRI results.

But....knee was better by Friday, so was able to do the Y-tri today. No awards for me, but I did finish. Might be the DFL (don't know actual results yet), but at least not the DNF or DNS.

Goal for March is to get another training program chosen and get moving on it. 5K in April and sprint tri in Sept.

Rainy weekend here but hasn't affected indoor training. Hope y'all are having a good one!!!

7 events the year of knee surgery?? That is impressive! How long did it take for you to heal enough that you could start training safely?

After the injury, the doctor released me to start swimming after 30 days, then ease back into the bike, the run was the last thing they let me do which was about 3 months after the surgery. What help the most was my physical therapy,I told her I was training for triathlons so I would have to say she used a lot of rehab sessions as I was a professional athlete it really helped. Also pleanty of streching and icing went a long way..Plus I went to therapy two to three times per week..

did the first workout of the beginning to swim program (the 5 month program). Challenging enough to make me nervous, but not overwhelmed. Went pretty well, not graceful or pretty but was nice to have a concrete plan to follow at the pool.

I usually coordinate yoga with Biking or running to focus on stretching the hams and hips. Swam today before yoga and it seemed to warm the body for a great increase in flexibility. I plan to trial swim before yoga a few more times. Anybody have any insight?

I guess the yoga paid off. I was planning to work on increasing pace speed this month. With folks doing races and fun rides I felt motivated.  Now pack to base training.
