Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wow!!! There sure is a lot to catch up on after missing a few days of logging on. Congrats on the new bike Gary. I love the crockpot recipe sharing. I feel like I'm in a rut and am always making the same thing in mine. I'm hoping to be back to training on Monday. I can switch planes without feeling dizzy. I just didn't want to believe that it would really take 7-10 days to heal. So I'm going to shoot for a half IM instead of the full. My main goal for the next month or two is to start eating better and cutting back on portions. I do good with my meals and while I'm at work. My down fall is the time when I get home around 5 and making dinner. I'm starving and I snack too much. It's crackers or quick stuff I can just grab. My plan is to pack a to go snack for the ride home. Any ideas for what that should be? So glad to hear you were med free today Marianne. That is good news. I have a pair of lobster claw gloves in black. That's what I wore when I used to ride my snowmobile (snow machines). What do Canuks call them? Kelly Edited by gojogo 2010-01-06 8:25 PM |

Kelly I keep a container of stuff in my car at all times. Usually has stuff like raw almonds, walnuts , dried fruit bars and Cliff bars in it. I keep it stocked and it means that there is always something to eat . I also always have some of this stuff in my purse at ALL times. Very important rule : NEVER ever let yourself get hungry. |

Ok..I will tell you. Italian sausage braised in beer...and then wrapped in home made whole wheat pizza dough sprinkled with fresh oregano. Sooooo yummmmmmy!! Served with a red leaf lettuce salad with a red wine dressing made with more fresh oregano and Parmesan cheese. Mmmmmmmmm. I'm drooling. That sure beat the French toast I made tonight for the family since I couldn't find any spaghetti sauce for the pasta I was wanting to make. Look again....there is a picture now. Oh....and Philthy....spaghetti sauce is sauce is something you CREATE not find......just sayin.......... Unless you're like me and don't like to cook, don't want to cook unless absolutely necessary (like now for the next umpteen years due to my wife's work schedule change), and need to get sumptin' out fast for the wee ones since they are hungry and want food fast (but not have fast food), blah blah blah and etcetera, etcetera. |

Try this: bring a pot of water to boil for pasta. While the pasta is boiling put a heat safe bowl ON TOP of the pot. Into this you plop a can of tuna, some olive oil, bit of lemon juice.......some capers if your kids will eat em.....and some parmesan cheese. Whilst the pasta is cooking this "sauce" is heating....then simply drain the pasta and mix it all together! I like to cook almost as much as I like to ride my bike. ![]() Wish I cooked for a living........ |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I everyone... Just quick drop-in tonight. I got a puppy yesterday! Wasn't planning on it at all and it wasn't the one I was thinking about adopting. She was going back to the animal shelter for adoption. Her foster dad decided not to keep her. She was just too cute to send back. With those big paws of hers, she's going to make a great running companion. Will try to post pictures soon (once I figure it out). Will try to catch up with the posts later this week. How is Marianne?

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Oh...speaking of lobster claws! These I got dirt cheap at an industrial supply place........ ridiculous? Yes. Practical?? Yep! Very Nice - those look like they could be used to pull your dinner out of the oven as well - I like 'em!! Ran this morning at 5 am with a friend of mine that is recovering from knee surgery. We use to run a lot of 5Ks together and were very competitive, now we are both recovering from injuries and hobbling around the lake. It was a great run though - we averaged a slow 8:15 mile and had a good chat along the way. It was nice to run with someone - It took my mind off of my leg and it didnt bother me at all!! We did 3 miles together and then I did another 2 solo - great morning even if it was 28 degrees. |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just checking in! I love cooking...wish I had time to do it more. On deck for today - either a trainer ride or treadmill run...(it's freeeeeeeezing here and my blood has been thinned living in the South) and some strength training. Swim tonight while Monkeys are at swimming lessons. |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yikes! We were hiding on the 2nd page. I ran, lifted, and swam this morning. Just in case any of you were thinking of doing anything so stupid, do not swim after lifting. ![]() |

Now that sounds good - recipe please!! http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRe... It's not a crockpot recipe - I modified it. Pretty much I threw it in the crockpot after you add the potatoes and corn and let it simmer all day. About 1/2 hour or so before serving, I added the milk/flour/cheese/bacon. I'll let you know how good it is after we eat in a few. ![]() |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I hate to cook, I dislike food shopping and making sure to have all ingredients, preparing, timing everything to be ready together and most of all cleaning up. I only like the eating part. |

Pro![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well holy cow that looks YUMMY!! My family is about to try the butter chicken. Whole house smells gorgeous. I had fun in the mid eastern food emporium. Had to go there to buy cardamon pods to put in this dish. I could spend hours in a place like that....looking at all the unfamiliar spices and products from afar. Fun! |
