rizer22 - 2013-01-03 6:20 PM If anyone else has done Rev3 events, including Kelly and Jen which I know have, is it worth the money. I was originally thinking Rev3 Quassy Olympic on June 1st. Cost $150. There is also the Pat Griskus Olympic on June 15th. My understanding is it is the same course as Rev3 Quassy. Cost $95. Am I missing an experience if I decide to do the Griskus event instead. Griskus shows it maxes out at 600. Rev3 may have a lot more, which doesnt affect me, but curious if i am missing some sort of experience. Thoughts????

Course for Griskus is a little different Rev 3.  Both are tough but the Griskus bike is slightly different and the Griskus run is a double out and back.

Experience is totally different.  Griskus is a really well run race but its low key.  Rev 3 is a full fledged race party.

Really depends on what you are looking for experience wise.

Ok Kelly. I think I like the idea of a race party.

Rev 3 puts on a good party.  You're paying for the experience and I think Rev 3 gives you your money's worth.

x2.  If it's not your priority race, then you could just do Griskus.  If you don't really mind shelling out a little extra cash for the party, then do Rev. I really loved Cedar Point.  I will do it again.  Personally, I don't mind paying a little more for an olympic.

LOL.  Yep, I'm something special.  I can't help it, and until I have the surgery to help me out, I have to deal.  Triathlon is the perfect sport for me, because everyone is so sweaty, wet, and gross anyway..... no one notices a little pee

I too have peed on the run. I have also stopped and had the worst cramp ever in the porta potty.

Hour and a half run done. 305 went kaput with about half a mile left.

I've peed on the run.  Its easier to pee while running than finding a bush -- way too hard to pull shorts back on.

Good Mornig everyone! I probably just had the best swim ever this morning!! I really have been trying to focus on form even when I get tired which is really helping I think. I never swam before besides recreational before last year so all these little steps are exciting. I also went and picked up some whole30 foods. I am cooking dinner all next week. I will officially start on Monday but I am trying some things out this weekend and prepping for next week. After my workout I had two eggs with a whole avacado and an orange. How is it going for everyone else?j

What do you mean it went kaput?  Is the battery fried?  I'm about to drop kick my 910.  It was stuck on the Garmin screen for 5 days.  Couldn't get it to switch, so couldn't use it.  Last night I spent an hour on Garmin.com trying to get this situation under control.  The thing is a year old.  Finally got it to move screens, but it wouldn't pair with my ANT stick.  Ridiculous.  At least I was able to use it in the pool this morning for swim splits.  Last swim was old school with only the pace clock.

I walked into the kitchen at work and smelled maple syrup! ARRR! Actually I don't feel deprived at all following Whole30. I woke up this morning full??? I didn't eat anything after 7:15 last night, so not sure why I felt full.

OK, all this talk of races, testing, workouts - I need to get back into things!!!

Not only gross bike shoes and clothing, but also gross and peed on running shoes?

I know by that point there is not much left in the urine but water, but wow ... you guys are special.

More popular than I thought!

I'm with you Carrie. I guess more power to them.

(If I stood a chance at placing in my AG I might consider it, but since that's not going to happen I'll continue to use the facilities available on the course.)

I hear ya Karen. It must be the fat we are eating. The book states after day three you may start seeing some results. Maybe it's all in my head but I'm not craving anything too badly and I don't feel bloated, like I have been the past two months. I'm not hungry at all. I guess that confirms its never been hunger in the past, just a craving

With that, what has everyone made that they want to share. Grilled chicken salads are getting old. I need a few good recipes that have been tried.

Went off by itself so I tried to turn it back on and all that was there were dark black horizontal lines.  Now it won't do anything.  Looks like it's time to scrape up a couple hundred $$.

I LOVE politicians!!!!  Both sides of the aisle, doesn't matter.  They should all have to line up so we can punch them in the face one by one.

you probably don't need a new one, you just probably need to do a hard re-set.  If it is indeed kaput, you can send it back to Garmin and they'll replace it for $99.

I have peed on the bike during all of my HIM and I have peed while running.  I have no bladder control after having three kids thankyouverymuch.

I wash my stuff after I race and only pee when I am racing not training.  I always have spare clothes and shoes for after races.

Although the so called "fiscal cliff" didnt happen, I believe Social Security tax may have increased 2%.

It may also be that you're contributing to your 401(k) again.  You usually reach the full annual contribution amount sometime in the fall, so the checks after that don't take anything out for it and are larger.  When 1/1 rolls around, though, it starts again, so checks are smaller.  Just in time to pay holiday bills, too.  Sigh.

I made bison burgers and used portobello mushroom caps as a bun.  Yummy!  I also made fish tacos the other day but wrapped mine in lettuce instead of tortillas.  Side was cabbage and onions sautéed in olive oil.  Did a beef roast last night for the family, and I ate that but substituted sweet potatoes for their red potatoes, and then I cooked some asparagus.  Tonight we're having burgers and yam fries again, and tomorrow I'm making chicken veggie stir fry (rice for the rest of the fam but none for me).

The biggest hit for me is the lack of legumes.  I consume a lot of beans.  I don't miss them necessarily, but this is a lot of meat and way more eggs than I'm used to eating.

Morning snack is nuts and fruit.  Lunch is salad with tons of veggies, leftover protein, oil dressing.  Afternoon snack is veggies.  I have an evening snack as well (usually celery with nut butter and decaf tea).

I know I'm not supposed to weigh myself OR have snacks, but I'm back down to my Cedar Point weight at the moment, so all is good for me!

I've done a hard reset many times on mine bringing it back to life. I usually follow that up by updating or reinstalling the same firmware to clean it up and then it runs really well for a while.

55 minute Z1 on the trainer followed by an 8 mile run comprised as 1 mile warm up, 5 miles tempo and 2 mile cooldown. Last week's tempo run I knew I didn't have it after the first mile and switch it up alternating hard mile and soft mile. Today was the opposite. 3 miles in I knew I had more so mile 4 I picked it up a notch and mile 5 another notch. Love days like this.

You are doing so well!  If you haven't read the book, go to their website to see the manifestos on all the things you are not eating and why.  It's really interesting.  But the protein and fat do make you feel fuller longer so that the point.

Of course mixing it up is key so you don't get bored.  Shrimp, salmon, ground beef, steak, roast, bison, etc. are all good protein alternatives.  I boiled up some shrimp, chomped them, and mixed with homemade chipotle mayo, put in on a bed of spinach with avocado.  Yummy!  Dinner was taco meat seasoned with my own seasonings on a bed of spinach with salsa and avocado.  I love to saute onion and ground beef in coconut oil, add diced up sweet potato, and sliced brussels sprouts.  Season with salt & pepper.  Awesome!
