Mornin' TAN.  Hopefully I will get to play a bit more around here today.

Get to go watch a MLS playoff game tonight.  Fire v. DC United.  Yeah, yeah, I know I'm the only soccer fan in here, but you will hear about it till they are bounced out and then you will get to hear about my all time favorite team the rest of the year.

Scout, that TANthrax is deadly stuff.  I'm finally not sniffling anymore and the throat is not nearly as raw.  Just coughing every 10 minutes.

You're not the only fan....  I don't follow too much of MLS only because there are no games in the area.  I do follow the local club team, Charleston Battery, which are like the next league down from MLS.  I followed a lot of it when I lived in Brasil and have since really only followed the Premier Leagues and World Cup stuff.

Who do you follow in EPL.  I'm a huge Liverpool fan.  Been so since I was little.  Grandparents used to live there.

You're definitely not the only fan in here...in fact, futbol is what brought me to tri...was playing in an O-30 league match when my right ACL and medial/lateral meniscus decided it was time...

Grew up playing the game - used to watch the Diplomats play in RFK - and played competitively until the accident at age 38; still coaching (have "D" license at this point) and could play if I wanted (knee is repaired and working great)...but why tempt fate...

Love Man U - have a Reebok cap that was signed by Ryan Giggs...

I mainly follow the brazilian national players in the league like Ronaldo & Roberto Carlos, (back in their day), Ronaldinho, Kaka,  etc.

Can you help me convince my father that it's time to quit futbol? He is 59 and every 2 weeks gets sidelined for injury. He keeps going out there though...

Let him keep playing if he wants to. Injuries are worth staying in good shape/health IMO. They heal, no biggie.

Yeah, well, that's the thing. When you're 59, those injuries don't heal. And they lead to poor health. At 59, it is a biggie.

hah...sounds like minor aches and pains if he keeps going back...let him keep playing...that's one of the wonderful things about this game - the O-xx leagues that keep popping up as guys age...when I first started with the O-30 league (comprised of ten O-30 teams), we had one O-40 team associated with the league and they had to travel pretty far to play games...at the time of my injury, they had two O-40 teams and were looking to add another...I'm sure they've got an O-50 team by now...playing/competition helps keep the spirit/heart young...

I think I'm gonna write a song, be a 1 hit wonder, and retire to an island.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

With the cr@p out there on the radio now it shouldn't be too dificult.  I only listen to satelite radio now.

Brilliant! Glad to know I'm not the only one.  I'm actually trying to find an indoor league around here to play during the winter.  Only played recreationally in HS in a church league.  Usually the GK because of my height.  Did get to score one goal, though, when we were beating the other team so badly they rotated me into the main group.  It was the ugliest thing you've ever seen in your life.  I wasn't paying attention (why I don't know) and the ball bounced off my shin into the net while I fell flat on my face!!!!

Como Esta, BEETCHES?

Lots of stuff.

Soccer is a girlie-man sport (that I played from when I was a wee lad through college). Crowny the bar in my building is a popular spot for a big group of Fire fans pre- and post-game. It's a fun crowd and their womenfolk ain't too bad. One got angry at me because she spent an hour `getting to know me' and then figured out that I was married. `Wow, that was a waste of time,' she said. Uh, did you NOT see the ring? Cracked my sheeyot up.

Kiley put some air in your tire or it could explode and send you and your car careening through a tree or another car carrying children.

I ran last night. Goal was 10 miles but I got hit by a rogue wave coming off the lake and had to cut it back to I think about 6 miles because the squishy shoes were no longer conducive to running, so I turned back after trying to keep pace for awhile. Scout would be proud -- I did speed work -- sprints and fartleks and buttknocks and such.

Don't wait until you're son is old enough to play to start coaching!  Start now...I started coaching in 1987, one year after moving to Atlanta.  Part of the impetus was to "give back."  I was a fairly decent player and knew the game well and I really, really appreciated the guys that invested time in me when I was a kid.  Yes, I am coaching my kiddos now, but coaching and getting to know so many others prior to doing so has been awesome.

I coached one group of boys from age 4/5 through 7th grade; as a result, I kept up with several of them and ended up attending college graduation (up in New Hampshire) for one and graduation parties for a couple of others.  It goes without saying that I couldn't attribute a value to seeing those guys after so many years and being told "Thanks" and that I was a positive influence in their lives.

Morning TAN

Yo BEF what up? Hey Ronnie Brown is out for the season, as I'm sure you heard. That only leaves me with four other star running backs. And you all laughed when five of my first six picks in the draft were RBs.

I was gonna stop at your house on Sunday after my run with my dogs (no they weren't on a leash and we were at the park, so take THAT!) but the BKNBLK wasn't there so I figured you were at church confessing sins.

Put those dogs on a frikn' leash would you?   GAWD I hate that!

I know, I know - Omaha needs a dog park, blah, blah, blah - I still hate it though - Ugh -

Yessss...it's a slang term generally denoting an amount of sleep so little it doesn't warrent using the formal word "slept."

ah ha!  makes sense now ;-)

Well if Omaha was even remotely progressive in anything other than building stadiums there'd be more than one crappy dog park in the ENTIRE city then I wouldn't have to worry about it. My dogs are well-behaved enough that it's OK that they're not on a leash. That said there are plenty of dbag dogs, namely the two giant poodles, who need leashes. And the owners are dbags too.

Anyway I'll bring my dogs over sometime so you can meet them. They'd see your dogs and be like `Are ya KIDDIN' me!' But they'd probably have fun with them.
