It is fun to bring this thread back up every once in a while.   I was thinking the other day about how much weight i have lost and how much easier running and pretty much everything else is.

1st pic- me at 227lbs.  2nd pic- me at 175lbs- complete with goofy smile

josh at 227

josh at 175

I LOVE these types of threads! I am going to have to back to page 1 and admire over everyone's successes!

since the thread was resurrected...I will share my weightloss (I apologize if you're already seen any of these.....)

I am pretty sure these won't upload in the order that I want....but essentially....

the santa one - December 2001
dinner with my husband - October 2001
striped sweater - October 2003
then the 'collage' is from my blog....self-explanatory
then the bikini one (my avatar) is from Jan 2008 - 147 pounds...and I am about 8 pounds lighter than that pic now (139).

Thanks..  I really love Taylors.   They have great action from the factory, a bright, but still balanced tone and are made from quality materials.   Are they worth the cost?   It depends.   You can get a great sounding guitar for not alot of money.   I had a Martin JC15E that I loved  and it cost me around $600.   But you wont really find a $600 guitar that sounds like a high end Martin or Taylor or Breedlove..etc.   The guitar pictured is 2001 814CE-LTD (fall limited edition) and of all the guitars that I have owned and heard, it is by far the best sounding guitar, in my opinion.  But I have heard others say that it is a bit bright for them.  Its all subjective.

You could also equate it to this.   Is it really "worth it" for an average age grouper to have a $2500+ tri bike?  Probably not, but it sure is fun!!!!!!!

I hate pictures of me.  So really don't have a before picture from before...only have one below....its from last summer...but unfortunately nothing has really changed (actually after last summer I gained weight and have lost some.  This is at about 190.  My heaviest was 250...I want to be down to 175...and able to run shirtless.

I can't believe I am actually posting this pic. I really can't even look at it myself.

Thanks for the review, one of these days I'll have a nice Martin or Taylor. Until then I'll stick to my Korean made Washburn.

Woof, you can be proud of the progress you've made so far! Now that you've given us a "during" picture, we can't wait to see an "after", (or at least a "later")

BTW, it's funny to go back to page 1 of this thread and see hwo long it actually took peeps to post pics of themselves, myself included!

Yeah, this is the best thread on the site. It actually has made me tear up it's so inspiring. I'm getting my pics together to post. One year ago I weighed 220, this morning I was 190 with a goal of about 175. I'm competing in my third sprint tri this weekend and I'm aiming for my first Oly at Wildflower in May. This is all anyone needs to see if they think you've lost your mind doing triathlon. Wow.

The other aspect of the before and after is that my cholesterol went from 218 to 185, I have a resting heart rate of 64 bpm, and I'll be 47 in July.

The other day we were at a show with a couple we had over for Thanksgiving dinner, and hadn't seen a lot of since then. The woman said, "Shaun, you're half the man I met!"

We can all argue about idiotic crap like politics on CoJ, but this is where the rubber meets the road. We're saving our own lives. *group hug*
