krazytallchick - 2012-02-06 4:59 PM Wow, I am away from my computer during the day and the number of emails telling me someone posted to the group tells me I was missing something fun.Suzie great job running in the cold. I actually like it, at first it was hard to get used to but now I don't mind it a bit. Just remember add 20 degrees to the actually temp and that is a good base on how to dress. Monte, hope you get to feeling better.Count me in on the virtual mile with Marie and the gang. I will have to do my mile earlier as I am running a marathons but I will be running it with you in in my mind. Thanks Ann.Nice race report, Jeff! It is hard to control your pace in the beginning with everyone taking off and the excitement of the race can make you go out faster then planned. Good job in hanging in there.Kathy

Kathy,  Thanks for the get well wishes... I feel great today... I honestly think its my body saying "no more" without some sleep and a whole bunch of calories...  I am having to figure out just how much energy my body needs considering it is expending a bunch more these days..... Also.. haven't forgotten the TI DVD.. work keeps in the way.. ha..

Went to my 2nd Master swim class and boy do I feel like a failure. Was in the slow lane and was still passed and I was like I am a triathlete I am not suppose to be this slow. Kept telling myself that a) this is suppose to be a slow and easy worst before my run. b). I am still new and feeling my way through. I told myself that after next week I can start focusing on my swim so just wait.Fit, I took what your coach advised you...pinching your shoulders and I tried it and it worked! Thanks for the tip and I will keep working on it.

Jeff-- Great job!!!  Try to run even splits. Its easier said than done but it does help.

Kathy--I felt like a failure at my masters swim. I was usually the slowest person each time and I did and IM so don't feel so bad. Just worry about your breathing and forum. Speed will come once you get that stuff down.

The group is much more active this year which is nice. Keep it up. I will get an run a couple on sunday too if my wife doesn't have my day filled.

My miles for Maria and Suzie may be the slowest of the group since I have never run anything beyond 10 miles.  So mile 12 and 13  will be by FAR my longest miles into a run yet.  In as much as I am doing this for you guys, I am hoping the thought that I am running them for you will give me wings or something.  Oh, can you tell I am getting nervous...  At least I know I will finish because there is no way I am not running mile 12 and 13.

I have only done little runs and yoga this week.

triplebypat/ did you get my PM about the vets camp, anything I can do to help?

Pam - now I can't WAIT to read your race report!  On my mile, I'll be imagining I'm doing my last mile of a HM instead of my FIRST mile in 15 years.  And that will give ME wings.   I  go at a "plodding elephant pace" (I probably walk faster than I jog) but I will not walk. Nope. Not walking.  I promise.

Yes, i did. and very much appreciated. sorry i have not responded - i was waiting on clarification on a couple things.

But to answer one question... once we get through this camp for our great military veteran-athletes and go through a Lessons Learned process, the goal is to take this model to other locations. It is all about community involvement, and giving back to these folks. Team Red, White and Blue will use our performance for future planning.

Thanks, Pam.

And Suzy -- even this plodding elephant will walk parts... my cardiologist made a point of that before allowing me to do Ironman Florida... i no longer have the capacity to oxygenate fully if I try to run the whole thing. (yup, kinda like getting a hall pass at school)

Hey Suzie,  I am working Sat night 7p-7a, so I have to sleep sat morning but are you running Sunday because I would join you for that?  Not sure who Maria is but I will support her as well.  I have been running longer distances and my avge speed is around 11 or 12 min miles, so I am right there with you.  Are you doing one mile or two and about what time?

Ann - I'll run the whole first mile in one peice, and then run/walk another mile and a half.  My plan calls for 24 mintues of total running, which I figure will be two solid miles of running plus the walk breaks.  I'll start at 11:30 pacific time on Sunday.  Thanks for joining me!

You all are the best.

You all are the best.

I will be with you Suzie and I will be struggling.  Listen to my next few days.  I have to cover the office hours for a colleaugue who is sick tom morn 8:30-1pm, come home, eat, (cuz I am always ravenous) run 3 plus miles, probably eat again, work 7p-7a at the hospital, sleep Sat morn, catch a ferry at 3p to Connecticut to meet my siblings (Dinner and drinks, more eating)for a pow wow about a cabin we co own together, catch the 8pm ferry home.  Sleep, get up at 7am for an 8am POW (pool open water)  swim class 8-9:30, quick shower (need to somehow eat again), church by 10:30.  Home around 12, eat, visit my mother in law at Assisted living place, run with you 2:30 eastern time (11:30 your time, glad we got that straight).  Eat, rest and on call 7p-7a again!!  Phew!!  Hope I make it!!  I will and I will be thinking of you.  We can do it!! Go team, go!!

Hugs,

PS  Going to bed real soon!!
