Champion 6225 | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge the weather is CRAP. so....i headed indoors today. 60 min spin class w LOTS of long/tough climbs. followed by a 1675yd swim. man those mile swims are getting, dare i say, easier!?! did i just hear myself say that. i remember this time last year when 100 yards seems like a looooong way to swim continuously. AMAZING how far we come....little by little. onwardandupward! im over in my swim and bike goals, and a little under on my running goal (somehow?) but im still at 100.6% overall. its been a challenge this month thats for sure, what w those few days of being really sick, then the blister ladened little toe, and the cranky exterior calf muscle. but.....i made it! this is has been a great team. i think we really came together and spurred one another on. and many of us will be together again during the Halloween challenge. BT is a GREAT place to be! heres to FINISHING STRONG and moving ever closer to REACHING our GOALS! stacieb |

It is nice to have family close. Sounds scary in the area! Stay safe!! *concerned TOPpage* it was nice, having jim there. this was his first long distance ride and cycling event. so it was fun to see him experience that all for the first time. and we dont get the opportunity to ride together all that often. he's usually the one hanging back w the kids so that i get out and train. so a rare treat for us both. as for the city, everythings back to normal. glad the rabble-rousers are on a bus headed out of town. good riddance. stacieb Edited by skrtrnr 2009-09-30 7:15 AM |

BT is a GREAT place to be! heres to FINISHING STRONG and moving ever closer to REACHING our GOALS! stacieb DAN. im assuming thats how the spreadsheet was set up... every challenge is slightly different. sometimes they cap it off at 100%, so no extra rides/runs/swims go towards your overall goal... but then some challenges they set it up so that you can go 'slightly' over that way you can help yourself out to reach 100% OR you can help out your other teammies who fall below 100%. seems like thats the way this challenge is being run.... which works out well for me this time! stacieb |

Elite 3447 West Allis, WI | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge skrtrnr - 2009-09-28 3:48 PM HEY DEE! the ride was GREAT. such an exquisite route. each bend we went around, it just kept getting more and more picturesque. and i think, having done a longer cycling event prior, i was able to relax and really enjoy myself this time. and then w my husband and a good friend along for the ride made it all the nicer. as for the race the next day, this ones a sentimental favorite of mine. probably the largest race run in the city of Pittsburgh second to the Pittsburgh Marathon. it rained buckets the 2nd half of the race, which i LOVED. i didnt run for time, it was more for the SMILEY COOKIE at the end! but the fact that i put in a 60 mile day beforehand, i'd say i did well. 9:30/mile pace going into the final mile, got hung up in 'traffic' which slowed me down a bit. i finished at 1:00:28. [last year i ran it in 56:30] the cookie was YUMMY and worth it. stacieb Great job Stacie! |

Master 1841 Sendai, Japan | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge Hi everyone. Sept is a wrap for me. I got to the pool today and cranked out 1600 meters - just enough to take me to 100% on the swim. That was about my limit today. I was feeling kind of tired, but perhaps to be expected as this was my best month ever for all three disciplines from a training distance perspective. Good luck to everyone who still has some workouts remaining.Dan |

Some of you know I am now up in NJ seeing to the arrangements of my grandmothers funeral. She passed on Sunday morning. She had a long wonderful life (92 yrs old!) had all her facilities to the end and died quietly in her sleep. There is no way I can finish this challenge, although it may not matter the team seems to be doing so well! I may get a run in tomorrow... but there have been many late nights and busy days attending to family matters and such and I can not see me getting in additional rides or swims. Sorry to let my team down! Please feel free to drop me... Jen so sorry for your loss....no worries on the challenge, life has to come first. Take care of you and your family. |
