A side note on kids:

I got to give my step son tons of grief last night in front of other folks about forgetting to call me on mother's day. It was sweet!

Good morning Ghoulies!

We had an action packed evening of soccer practice, severe thunderstorms, and tornado warnings.

My daughter also had her class play yesterday. I wasn't going to go, work stuff, but I did. I'm really glad I went. The entire class did a fantastic job. After the cast party we got to watch a slideshow of events throughout the year, it was really cute. I was even in it, and so was my sister. My sister was a "Mystery Reader" earlier in the year.

Soccer practice ended just in time to beat the storms, and I'm glad the kids weren't caught out in it, but it was no fun driving through. I did spend most of soccer practice reading a book on my new NOOK! I put a load of kids books on it yesterday afternoon, and right before we left for soccer I put something on for me to read during practice. I need to figure out how to do the downloads with the local library, otherwise I can see me spending A LOT of money buying books this summer.

Yea for your daughters class- good choice on going, Ann. Glad the weather held out for the practice. We had the same storms here. Twisters to the south of us even. This is a powerful spring.

For the nominal fee for a library card for out of are users, Kendra can hook you up with her library. Though, in your area you probably have lots of libraries that have electronic downloads. I still love my magazines and my books on paper. But I love love love my Nook, too!

We were in a tornado warning. On the way to soccer practice we heard that there was a sighting in the next county over, and possibly in the western part of our county.

Just north of here there are miles of the highway closed because according to reports every pole for miles is snapped, and there are 90,000 people without power. We didn't have it that bad.

I remember you saying that Kendra hooked you up. I want to see what the local library has but I will keep her in mind. My son goes through books pretty quickly, so this may be a way to keep him reading this summer without having to break the bank buying books.

Morning Ghoulies!

Yesterday was a long day. But the classes we teach are done for the year. Now to just get the final prep ready for the bash this weekend.

I was going to go out and get some yard stuff done early but it is raining here. Good, get it out of the way for the weekend!

Hope you all have fandamtastic weekends. I will not be arround much at all.

I want to come to the bash.

Glad you guys were not in the heart of the storm! The great thing about the downloads is that you don't have to remember to either bring the book back. No late fees!

Have a great day!

Glad to hear no one here suffered in the storm.  We lost a tree at my library, and had roof leaks and power outages.  The wind was blowing so hard the rain was sideways.  Town next to my town got hit pretty bad.  When will these ugly storms go away?

Anne, be sure to check the free books that Barnes and Noble have available for the nook.  That would be another way to save a bit of money.

I got about a dozen free kids books last night. I want to keep looking for more, but I had run out of time.

Ann

Got any jokes?

A tourist was admiring the necklace worn by a local Indian. "What is it made of?" she asked. "Alligator's teeth," the Indian replied. "I suppose," she said patronizingly, "that they mean as much to you as pearls do to us." "Oh no," he objected. "Anybody can open an oyster."

---

A property manager of single-family residence was showing a unit to prospective
tenants and asking the usual questions.

"Professionally employed?" he
asked.

"We're a military family," the wife answered.

"Children?"

"Oh, yes, ages nine and twelve," she answered proudly.

"Animals?"

"Oh, no," she said earnestly. "They're very well
behaved."

---

A businessman on his deathbed called his friend and said, "Bill, I want you to
promise me that when I die you will have my remains cremated."

"And what," his friend asked, "do you want me to do with your ashes?"

The businessman said, "Just put them in an envelope and mail them to the
Internal Revenue Service, and write on the envelope, 'Now you have everything'."

---

"What am I supposed to do with this?" grumbled a motorist as the policeman
handed him a speeding ticket.

"Keep it," the cop said, "when you collect
four of them you get a bicycle."

---

A prisioner in jail received a letter from his wife:

"I have decided to
plant some lettuce in the back garden. When is the best time to plant them?"

The prisioner, knowing that the prison guards read all the mail, replied
in a letter:

"Dear Wife, whatever you do, DO NOT touch the back garden!
That is where I hid all the gold."

A week or so later, he received
another letter from his wife:

"You wouldn't believe what happened. Some
men came with shovels to the house, and dug up the whole back garden."

The prisoner wrote another letter:

"Dear wife, NOW is the best
time to plant the lettuce!"

You all must be busy celebrating your long weekend! haha. Quiet around here!

Well I made it to Van...not much going on in the lab. I changed my flight to see Neal to Wed cause the other girl won't be here anyways so all I really have to do is read stuff and I can do that in Ames just as well as I can do it here. Reading about angiotensin II and renal blood flow dynamics...wooooooo. Haha.

My place for the summer is pretty awesome. We are in the basement of a house in one of the suburbs of Vancouver called Coquitlam. Only about 15min from the lab and about 15min from the pool. Haha. Pretty nice. We have nice dark hardwood floors and a backyard pool!

Hi Princess! Just for a short while. I'm taking the red-eye back tomorrow night. Are you getting excited about IMLP? Depending on what is happening with work I may try to get up there. Btw congrats on finishing first year.

Good morning Ghoulies!

How was everyone's holiday weekend?

I went fishing on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Did some shopping. Did some napping. Did a little bit of house cleaning. Picnicked. Rested. Relaxed.

Robin - I apologize for not getting you any jokes sooner than Saturday morning. It totally slipped my mind.

I also saw that Reba McEntire and her entourage toured the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville over the weekend.

It is supposed to be HAZY HOT and HUMID the next 2 days. Yesterday we broke a record that was set in 1895 for the high temp. Today could hit 98, tomorrow 95. My team has a soccer game tonight, and 2 tomorrow night. Don't tell them, but I'm planning a water battle after the game tonight. My son and I went out on Saturday morning and purchased several squirt guns for them, and super soakers for us. <insert evil grin>

MORNING GHOULIES.

can even begin to describe the weekend.

though restful and pleasant, we had a MAJOR scare yesturday.

our doggie got very, very sick very suddenly for no apparent reason.

i took her to the vet hospital and they diagnosed her with Addisons disease.  treatable but the 'crisis' she had yesturday could've been fatal had i not acted quickly.

geesh.

not the way i expected to spend Memorial Day, but im just glad things didnt end badly.  the boys would have been devastated.

we did manage to get in a picnic a my brothers and lots of swimming at the Water Park.

its hot and sticky already this morning.

the boys are gonna be off to school and then im off to a school visit myself.

i have bag pack to get in a swim this afternoon.

then its another client this evening.

our dear doggie should be home tonight.

HAPPY TUESDAY EVERYONE!
