hello folks. Been kinda quiet, which is totally un like me! Brittany, thank you so much for getting all the shirt orders organized! Looks like everyone's been doing boatloads of training and doign well...same here for the most part...my plan carries quite a bit less of a load than most and I"ve been doubting it but I've been putting in the time and so far everythign's been great. Tough to get going some times but great.

Melissa - I was totally thinking of you the other day when I so didn't want to run anymore -  I just imagined you on your 111 trips around the track and you got your run in. Motivation comes in many different ways for sure!  Hope everyone has a great training weekend! Is it too early to begin thinking about tapering???

Hey, anyone renting wheels for this little race? Been toying w/ renting some discs...

Anne, I won't wear mine in the race, but probably for pre-race dinner or any BT get together.  Last year lots of the family/friend spectators wore them and it made it easy for the athletes to spot them or for us (family/friends) to spot each other.

Yeehaw!! Seriously, I'm getting so excited...I'm glad I'm getting excited and not freaked out (yet!). I am not however excited about the 4+ hours I need to go spend on the trainer here in about 30 minutes. It's been pouring rain since yesterday. We truly need the rain, but it is not conducive with my training!   I'll run in the rain, but we've even got flash flood warnings, so outside is just a no-go.  Need to find a movie to watch...

That requires some serious mental fortitude!  The race will be a piece of cake after that.

Wow Trainer girls! I thought I was doing well on my trainer today. Rode for 45 minutes this morning when it was too dark to ride outside. Then I went on a 50 mile bike ride until it started raining. Came home and took a little nap. Got up and got back on the trainer for 2 hours and finished up with a 1 hour run. Now I know where the weekend goes!

I like the trainer but 7 hours? Yikes! What did you watch?

First open water swim with a wetsuit today.  Quite a unique experience.   Does anyone else find the wetsuit makes it harder to swim in a straight line or is it just me.  All in all the swim went well.  They had posted "no swimming" signs where I was going to put in so I went around to the other side of the lake.  I went on google maps later to try and see what distance I was swimming.  I think I must be using the wrong geographic reference points because I am calculating myself to be a much faster swimmer then I thought I was.

I have always had a difficult time doing 25 yards lengths in the pool.  Just too boring.  Swimming in the lake was much more fun.  I guess I won't really know what my swim time is going to be until I get there. I am going to try and use a different reference point and swim to that so that I can check my pace.

Anyways good luck to all and happy training!

Eh, I don't count them... I mean, yes, they are next, but of the North American and the one with the predominately "normal" (i.e. not super fast!) population...
Under the 8 week mark! KEEP HEALTHY!!

80 mile ride on the trainer today.  Yuck!  I try to stay off the trainer when possible but I am going to try to register for IMWI today and don't want to get too far away from the computer.  What all do you guys have on plans for today?  Anyone else going for IMWI 2010?

Happy Monday.  53 days and change!!!

who does Kona? The gifted and lucky

I say you guys are up next!

I signed up for women's change tent and finish line catcher..hope to meet lots of you down at Panama City!

Order the t-shirts as it makes it so much easier to find each other while just walking around. Last year I bumped into so many BTers that I would not have recognized if not for the BT shirts. We ordered the tech ones and wear them often even when I go to other races as it helps me bump into other BTers.

Did an 80 mile ride on Saturday...  On my plan for Sunday, it says, "this week starts peak training."  Well thanks for putting my 80-miler aside as a 'no biggie' workout.  Ha, thats ironman for ya...

Getting close, getting (more) excited!

HAHA, funny how that works, right...I have an "easy" week--with my HIM on Saturday included, I "only" have about an 11.5 hour training week...piece of cake.   In the vein of the GRE studying I've been doing, here is an analogy that summarizes the new "outlook" for training that IM has done to me:

IM training : HIM Training
HIM training : Sprint training

I just completed a HIM this weekend. I felt pretty good throughout. I had a awesome bike. It will be hard at Ironman to bring it down a notch from what i did this weekend.

Great workouts everyone this weekend. If you are like me the next two or three weeks are the toughest and hardest work outs of your training plan.
