Final weigh in for the challenge.  226.4 (hangs head and walks away in shame) Tommorow starts the official kick-off of logging everything I eat.  I work too damn hard not to be losing weight.

Final weigh in (post 3500 yrd swim, 8 mile run): 220 on the button.

March is off to a good start courtesy of an outdoor 8 miler today.  Felt good, just took it nice and easy.  I love my 8 mile loop because it also has 1500 of climbing which is pretty good for a city type run.  Most of the climb is 800 feet in about 1 mile up hill with a nice plateu and then a nice mile back down.  There are good roller all along the run too.  The pool was quite "scenic" this morning if you get my drift (college womens swim team was racticing there for some reason... but theya re welcome anytime IMO).  1 more month of winter!

Ended at 152, down from 156. It was a tuff month as training took on a new intensity and as my milage grew, so did my apetite! It was up and down on the scale for me! Great job everyone!

It was a great challenge. February caught up to a lot of us. I game to keep it going for bragging rights until ......... say ........... May 1st.

Thank Linda Litton of NeverReach for the generous donation. She has been kind enough to sponsor me for the last couple years and has come through again for 2009. I do like the system and it basically never comes off my bike.

George, it would be great if you could do a review of the system once you've had a chance to use it. (If the negative windchills would ever leave the area!!)

Yes, it is a great prize!!  I am really psyched about it.  I will definitly do the review Bob.  Now I just have to convince my wife to let me buy a new bike to put it on so I don't have to put it on my MTN bike!

With temps like this, it is hard to imagine getting out side on the bike anytime soon but let's hope that the March lamb shows up soon!

I'm game for keeping this going until May for some bragging rights.  I'm not too pleased with myself for coming up way short, as I'm not a fan of losing.  But, isn't competitiveness good for triathletes?

I'd be up for continuing the weight comp until May.

Hey Bob I saw you were using a snorkle for some of your 100's today.  I've seen those swim snorkles int he mags.  What do you see as the biggest benefit of using one?

The workout stated snorkel but I gave mine away after getting very frustrated with it in the pool. The benefit of using a snorkel is you are able to focus on hand entry and stroke mechanics without having to worry about breathing. In open water I would have used it but it kept getting a little water in it every flipturn in the pool.

Keep an eye out for one on ebay, they are cheap when someone has the same experience I did.

Good God it was cold out this morning for a run. I wanted to get back in bed but I just kept thinking that that is what Tim is probably doing, I need to get out there!!   4 degrees out, my water bottle, gel flask and Gatorade were frozen by 40 minutes. I WANT SPRING!!!

Hope all is well with everyone!!

Nice article Stuart.  Looks like you got a lot out of the clinic.  I think that if I had to do that testing after already swimming 5000 yards (slightly less than my weekly total!) they might tell me to give up swimming!!  Thanks for sharing your learnings.

Another example of dedication from our leader!!  You are a machine (or just plain crazy!).  I had a hard time dragging myself out of bed this morning to drive to the pool!  Looks like we will get a little spring teaser here in the Southern Tier this weekend.  Just hope it isn't too wet.

1 month to race day and its been in the mid 70's near the course, not fair at all, however I grew up in Chicago and know what its like to have frozen eyebrows and nostrils. I did not enjoy winters too much but there was always something incredibly motivating at the first signs of spring!

Just plain crazy is my wife's take on it. I was really feeling it when I had to drop trow and leaned into a thorn bush!! Talk about scaring the sh*t out of you!! (Not that I have trouble getting that out.) With icicles on my eyelashes and my hydration frozen I was scared to death to pee!!

Excellent highlites to your stroke clinic Stuart. Your swimming volume has been inspiring to say the least. I imagine that you are going to see some huge gains this year on the swim leg, both in time and energy saved! Nice job!
