Well we're off tomorrow AM for St. Anthony's.  We've got a hotel room for the weekend.  My 7-1/2 year old son has the Meek & Mighty (100 yards/3 miles/0.5 miles) on Sat and I have St. ants Olympic on Sunday.  I'm shooting for a sub 3 hour finish.  Wish me luck!

All the best at St. Anthony's for both you and your son. I can imagine how proud you must be sharing this event with him.

I heard St. Anthony's swim was cancelled for the age groupers...2-3 foot swells. They did let the 80 elites swim. I didn't realize it was such a major event with Andy Potts and other notables (4,000 registered) racing.

I just wanted to thank everyone for encouraging me to do the duathlon yesterday.  All in all it went well though I struggled a bit on the bike as there were some pretty decent winds and I probably wasn't as prepared to bike off the run as maybe I should have been.  I did have fun though and I am glad I did it.  First race of the season is in the books.

It's HUGE!

They let the pros swim but not elites or any AGers.  At first we were all pretty upset about the swim being canceled but after watching the pros struggle and end up with 25-30 min swims (that's slower than my times) I realized it was for the best (as did most others).  Many of us could have made it but there would have been many who would have needed saving.

I was shooting for 20mph avg on the bike (I did 19.5) but the wind was WICKED!!!  I was shooting for a sub hour 10k and ended up (by my watch) right at 1 hour so overall I was pretty happy.  Still wished we could have swam.

I am glad that you decided to do it as a training day!  Nothing better than experience as a teacher!

I saw quite a few posts yesterday on peoples blog about the swim there!  I think only the truly experienced swimmers were disappointed, but understood!

Great job on getting close on your bike goal and hitting the run!

Way to go Craig, I'm sure you did well and added some deltas for your next race. I always think about what adventure will unfold for me the morning of each race. Sometimes its crappy other times you're strollin on the red carpet but always an adventure !

Great pics and glad to hear you were satisfied with your performance. Even Andy Potts said the swim was "rough". Safety should be #1, although disappointing, sounds like the right decision was made.

I've been saving my change, literally forever it seems. Found a sweet deal on an 08 model. I just hope my current "love" doesn't mind sharing time with it.

Well team I think I'm going to be the first dropout from the group. My schedule is just packed the next couple of months including both of my sons graduating, one from HS, one from college, work stuff and then a Hawaii trip (to celebrate the previously noted graduations). My tri season has been disappointing because of my knee problem, and I prob won't do any tri's until maybe Sept.

I really appreciate all the encouragement and concern from the group. I will continue to follow everyone's progress. The only reason I'm withdrawing is that I feel like it's getting to be a one-way encouragement -- you have been encouraging ("inspiring") me, but I haven't been reciprocating, and I'm feeling increasingly guilty about it. I just have had a hard time keeping up with everything, and especially since I'm not doing a tri anytime soon, I don't want any of you to feel that you have to be checking my logs, writing inspires, etc.

Thanks again, and please know I am not withdrawing because of any problem with anyone in the group. You've been great, and I've had a better year than I would have on my own. Thanks especially to Ken for being a great mentor. Best wishes to all and good luck with the upcoming season!

Howard, you are more than welcome to stop by when you can.  We certainly all understand when we have life get in the way.  No need to drop out, at least for that reason.

No need to feel guilty if you don't have time to reply to every inspire either!  This is just a hobby for most of us and it certainly in most of our cases is not our first priority over the course of the day.

BTW, it sounds like you have a busy summer ahead of you, but it sounds like a lot of fun too!
