I'll be getting on my trainer later.  Gotta work some of the fatigue out of my legs.

Brick....I thought you were in the Brentwood in LA!  You must be in the bay area, though!  Or......your parents live in Mexico.

Oh God!  I got a good laugh out of that one.  Yes, I'm up here in the East Bay of San Francisco, not to far south of you.

No it is all paved (hopefully) - Yes through the ACA and they don't show a lot of detail because they want you to pay for the maps

You're around 5 hours south of me!  We avoid the bay area whenever possible!  Too crazy for me!

Cancelled my run at lunch.  I'm just sore today.

I need to plan at least one rest day into my week.  I think I'm addicted to training.  Still going to masters class toinght though.

Rest day is major important.  Get some rest.  Overtraining can be as bad as no training if you aren't careful.  Seriously.

QOTD for Monday.

I currently have 3 pair of goggles.  Two pair of Swedes (the best in my book -- cheap and effective) and A pair of clear speedo of some kind.

I've worn out many many pair.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-08 4:47 PM Fixed the oven and now I am off to LBS to buy a new bike lock because I ruined mine this winter by being lazy!

Oh well lesson learned!

Buy a nice big heavy one... it will help build speed   Not that you really need it!!

How many pairs of swim goggles do you currently own?

Three: one smoked, one clear, and one for the pool.

"smoked".... do you put them in a smoker to acquire that great tasting smell to make you go faster?
or did you roll 'em and light it?  Where would you find papers big enough????

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

One less than last week b/c hubby lost his so I forfeited one of my back-ups
He's lucky I didn't give him the mint green mirrored ones that turned out to be the wrong color that I ordered!!!

quincyf - 2010-03-08 10:52 AM This is huge for me...three posts in a row. Thankfully got my bike in (on the trainer, but outside on my roof top deck in the sunshine, awesome) before my barf-o-rama on Saturday night. Spent yesterday in bed and today is sort of bed-y but I am feeling better. Maybe take the kids out for a walk a little later in the day. The good thing about gastroenteritis is that even though you are sure you are going to die when you have it, when it goes away, it's pretty much gone...unlike a cold or the flu which just lingers forever, ugh! I'll still make my goal, but it will be close. I have to finish by the 25th b/c I won't have access to my bike for the last week... I'll try to post more, but as you can tell, even three is a herculean effort for me... Peace,

Glad you are feeling better AND that you got your bike session done!  Smile

5ish.  I'm too lazy to count.  You never know when you need an extra pair of goggles!

Well my bike ride never materialized today   We didn't hit 40 like predicted.  Topped out around 35 and stayed foggy and dreary all day.  So I swam instead.

Bike ride hurt today.  Not only did I go out on my tri bike, but we had 14mph winds with gusts to 25mph.  Even managed to find a few light showers.  I don't know what it is about the tri bike, but everytime I get on that damn thing, it turns out to be painful!  I would so much rather be on my mountain bike!

Got another swim in too.

Cooking dinner now... I'm tired.  I just want to get the kids to bed and crash for the night!

Had to catch up with a few posts!!  Whew!!!

Dee....love the new bike!!!  Are you going to get clipless pedals and shoes?

Not right away.  It is enough to just adjust to the feel of the road bike.  Little bits of rock on the road that were no big deal on the old mtn bike feel different on the skinny tires of the road bike!

It came with the std plastic cages on the pedals.  I haven't really tried them yet.  I am considering getting the power grip straps instead.

Got in a short ride this afternoon on the new bike.  Sure felt faster, but the numbers weren't much better than my mtn bike.  I am hoping that it was just because I might be a little more tentative and plus there was quite a headwind during much of the ride.  I am still riding with just the open pedals.  I know the road bike won't do miracles for my speed, but I was sure hoping for a couple mph increase.  We will see what happens when I get to do a longer ride.

Today we have had sunshine, rain, and hail.   Jeesh!!  Undecided

Two -  speedo and aquasphere.  I mostly use the speedos.  The aquasphere have good suction when I test them, but in the pool they tend to leak.... I think when I wrinkle my forehead or something.

Happychick - 2010-03-07 8:10 PM Hey all! Sorry I was completely absent this past week...I felt as though I was on my death bed but am feeling much better now.

Stacie ~ to answer your question from a week ago I am moving to WA.  My hubby is retiring (Army) and has accepted a job up in Northern WA which is nice cuz we have family there!

Yeah for retiring - my hubby is retiring (Air Force) and will be out effective 1 May. He starts his new job here at Tinker in OK on 3 May.

Yeah! Glad to hear you are feeling better.

IMO, you will see the biggest gains on the flats and descents.  As for climbing, you will now be forced to climb in higher gears.  So, if you can't keep your cadence up, you will be forced out of the saddle.  No more granny gear for the hills.  Also, as you're finding out, it will take a little while to figure out the handling of the bike.  It is going to be way more responsive due to steeper head tube and seat tube angles.

Got 2.32 miles in today as well as core. First 1.16 by myself and the last 1.16 I took my sisters dog Lanie. She did a bit slower but I ran faster on the first mile so it evened out. Lanie is a 8 month old golden lab who is a sister to my lab Jake. She did great for the first time on her leash in a LONG time. We had a great time.

Right on schedule and good to go.

Sorry the posts from me haven't been there - being with family doesn't leave time to post.

Actually it is a triple, so I still have a granny gear.  Tongue out

I read that spinning up the hill is less stress on your knees than powering up, so I was kinda glad for the triple.  Though I still stood on it during my test ride.  It felt less stable standing on the road bike vs the mtn bike.

Mostly I know that I REALLY need to keep improving the "engine"   Wink
