I was gonna ride today.  I was all dressed, had my route mapped out and was outside ready to jump on my bike.  Then I remembered that I am out of spare tubes.  With the luck I've had lately, I'd flat 8 miles out and have to walk home.  So, I came inside, changed clothes and ran.  I had a great run and really enjoyed the sunshine and nice breeze.  Just a gorgeous New England day outside.

That being said, I'm off to the LBS to get some tubes so I can ride tomorrow.

I had a long, sucky ride on the stationary bike at lunchtime.  The spinning class was cancelled so that's what I had to do.  And I stared out the windows at the beautiful weather wishing I could be out there.  Oh well, at least it's a workout.  Blah! Blah! Blah!  I need something MASSIVE for lunch.

The impromptu rides which take place via the yahoo group are not announced via our club website nor "officially supported" by . I'd take time before any ride you're involved with to set some "ride rules" but no guarantees on whether or not the group will listen. Only events listed on the website under the training tab are official club events. This has to do with insurance and "club responsibilities". Hope this helps. It's a trial and error process to find a group that you like to train with and feel comfortable with. Put out your requirements/requests to the Yahoo group and see what happens. You may be pleasantly surprised.
Ride safe,

I responded that I can see the distinction but I'm not sure everyone else would, so from a club liability standpoint this should be stated explicitly somewhere.

I guess this is why I prefer to ride/train solo

That is a pretty sorry response to your experience. That is why I don't ride in groups as well. Which is too bad. At least you put it out there!

Yea on the swim today.
x2 I agree that is a pretty sad response. I can't believe that as a tri club president, he/she couldn't come up with ANYthing a little more encouraging?

x3!!!  I'm sorry, but that is a SUCKY response (pardon my French).  I'd be looking for a new Tri club.  Not that I currently belong to a Tri club.  I'm into solo training and that includes bike rides.

That is their Cover Their A$$ statement.  It is a blanket response to all complaints and it is just poor clubsmanship in my book.  That is all they ever will say and once again that is why I do 90% of my riding solo.  I never drop myself but sometimes think I can

When I responded that the distinction needs to be stated explicitly somewhere he said "it's stated in our  insurance documents."

I do about 99% of my riding alone.

Ugh   That really sucks, I'm sorry!  Sheesh, I can't imagine the president of my tri club sending out a response like that!!  Way to not care about your members!!

As I just said to my partner:

For a club president interested in the *legal* wellbeing of the *club*, that
was an adequate response. For a club president interested in the wellbeing
of the club *members*, it fell completely short.

Add me to the list of it's a sucky response.  Boo tri club president.
Add me too! THat was such a CYA risk management statement it was pathetic. *sigh*  I would look for a new club or start your own riding group with people who actually care about each other. Hope the rest of your day is better.

Nicole - apparently you may be pleasantly suprised to find that there MAY be groups out there that won't leave you behind.  That is a lame response.  He could have at least sounded like he felt bad.  It may not be legally be a club sanctioned ride, but it's associated with the club.  That should matter in terms of "good press."

Swimming tonight.  Strength tomorrow.  I just ran a couple miles, but that's not on my bEASTies challenge.  It was so nice, I took off my jacket and had bare arms....WOOT!  Spring is on the way.

I am too. My daughter was up coughing most of the night last night.

No rest for the weary though. Bike ride when I get home, followed by a run. A quick shower and some food then I'm off to play volleyball for 2 hours.

I wonder if it WOULD really cover them if something were to happen to a dropped rider, especially since this "clause" was not clearly specified before the ride.

Heading down to the basement for a drainer ride, then it's off to Master's swim.  My knee has been bugging me, so I plan to take it easier today and I have a run planned for tomorrow.

I am heading to Kenya on a mission trip starting Thursday, so no official training for me next week.  I think I'll be working though!  I'm pretty excited!!

Keep moving bEasties!
