I am looking in to some and thinking about going that route. Discovered that my current tri-suit was at least as comfortable as my bike shorts. DeSoto makes a good pair of shorts that I hear a lot of people recommend: http://www.desotosport.com/product/BS1 Making a costume change in T1/2 is fine, just practice it first. Getting dry clothes on a cold wet body when your arms a kinda wobbly from swimming is a bit difficult. |

I am curious what you consider to be a "good" pair of tri shorts? I am looking in to some and thinking about going that route. Discovered that my current tri-suit was at least as comfortable as my bike shorts. Got in my first 100k this weekend! For August already at 105miles bike, 20miles run and 5000meters swimming. Recovery week this week, then a big month ahead! Check out OOPMH shorts too. I really like their chamois but its kind of a personal decision. |

Expert 769 Murfreesboro, Tennessee | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread deboerkj - 2012-08-06 6:49 AM Weekend training was light due to a wedding and lots of running around. But my wife finally picked the bedroom dressers we have been looking for, so at least we done shopping for 1 thing Question for those who have competed in the IMFL or any IM really. I know that tri shorts are made to be worn all day, but I was thinking of switching into a pair of running shorts after the bike to put on a fresh pair of shorts. 1) Does anyone do this 2) Is there a decent location to do it, or 3) just rock out the tri shorts? Thanks in advance! I don't mind wearing them, but just thinking how putting on "fresh" clothes will feel mentally during this long day. I changed to running shorts and was glad I did. The changing room is a cluster in T1, but when I arrived in T2 there was plenty of room to sit down on a chair and change. I guess it all depends on how quickly you plan to finish. I figure it only added a couple minutes to my time. |

Expert 977 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Wore tri shorts for the swim and the bike then changed into clean/dry compression underwear and running shorts for the run. It just felt so good changing my shorts even though I really do like my tri shorts. But I was used to running in my other shorts and like everyone else said, T2 is pretty empty compared to T1. enjoy, Duane |

Regular 116 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Forgive the noob question, but then again i guess this is "Beginner" triathlete.com. I'm looking to do IMFL in 2013, and don't want to miss the online window. I heard a rumor that volunteers are allowed to sign up before it opens online. Is this true? I'd like to ride the MC down and do motorcycle marshal, but that doesn't look available. Run course pointer looks fine. =) |

Its been known to sell out online in minutes. Its fun volunteering If you go to the volunteer meeting you can probably do whatever u want. |

It depends on if daylight savings goes into effect before or after the race. AFTER then you have about an hour more of daylight.....7ish? if they turn the clocks back BEFORE the race 6ish. Usually you fall back an hour the day/night of the race |

And then online Monday? It opens on sunday at the venue I think at 7am? I think it opens online on sunday too but at noon. They will have charity slots too. They are more expensive but probbably less expensive than traveling to the venue and staying there for a few days although way less fun |

Usually you fall back an hour the day/night of the race no idea. Techincally the time to flip your clock back is 2am sunday morning/sat night after the race has finished if it is the night of the race. The first year I did the race the clocks flipped back the weekend before and it got dark at like 5:30 |

Time change is that morning, so sun set is an hour earlier. Last year I finished 6:10 or race clock time of 11:10. The sun was setting then, just a little bit of light in the sky . Good Luck!

Expert 977 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Most of my second lap was in the dark. Pretty neat running in the dark though. Lot of fun although the park gets a little dark. When we moved the clocks back last year I thought YES - an extra hour of sleep after Ironman. Nope, even after staying up until 2 am I was up bright and early. Go figure Duane |

I think most of the what I was going to say has been covered, but I will reiterate it... Definitely up your protein intake...this is a great stomach satisfier, and you will feel much more fulfilled. One good idea is having a scoop of protein and mixing it in with your coffee (chocolate protein with some coffee=mocha...at least in my mind . Also, adding some fresh fruits and vegetables will also help. Out of curiosity, how are your energy levels/recovery times? |

The time will change at 2 am on Sunday, November 4, after the race, but the days are shorter then than right now, so anything after 11 hours (6pm) will look like night time in the finish pictures, you can probably see a bit of sunlight in the western sky at that time. Make sure you set an alarm clock (a real clock -not a phone) to wake up for the finishers tent, or to get in line if you KQ or want to register for next year if you are not 100% positive the time changes on your phone automatically.
