Returning to swimming ????:

Bob- I'm planning on bringing swimming back into my training, but I tend to get shoulder pain in the beginning, and then it will go away after a few sessions (or I just HTFU).  Can you recommend a good "Welcome Back" set ?

OMG!!! Trixie you are going to get us banned!!! Not that there's anything wrong with the pic!!

Well if we're going to get yanked, then it may as well be for the Sooper Trix pic!

So, I was noticing on page 19 alone that we have a mom and son sledding, 2 wetsuits in bed together, a hug, and some sooper trix.  We're such a well rounded group

Good morning fellow Peeps, trixie lovers...   Hope all is well..

I have a quick question here...   I have been having issues with plantar fasciatis lately...   i have been doing the standard things...   roll my foot in bottle of frozen water, stretch well..   Is there anything I should be doing?

Running and swimming are going well...  I need to get my A$$ on the bike Pronto...   I need some  mentoring...

Ok all of you Yankees.  I plan to do a TT ride today to get my MHR/LT readings, etc.  To me, it is really cold out there today in Hotlanta, about 30 degrees with 20 mph gusts.  I plan to nut up and do the TT outside instead of inside on the trainer.  I hope you are happy, you plantation burners.

I need help with my diet.  I'm ok with breakfasts and dinners, but I am so tired of Lean Cuisines and salads for lunch.  I like fruits and veggies, but I also like to feel full.  I'm loosing weight at  an ok rate - about 1-2 pounds per week- but my lunches can make it or break it each week.  Any ideas?

When I train I try to stick with my gluten free diet which removes all wheat products (gluten).  Unfortunately I love drinking my Yuengling to much.   Instead of wheat breads, pasta, I use rice bread, rice pasta or corn pasta etc.  It also helps with my GI issues during long rides/runs.

Hey Luis!! Sorry to hear about the PF. That's a tough one to overcome. Does it bother you on the bike? If not, I would probably stick to biking and swimming for a couple weeks and ease back into running. If it does hurt on the bike then get to a sports orthopedic or PM Sue7013 for some advice.

Get your a$$ on the bike!! (Is that good mentoring?

I've been doing a sweet potatoe for lunch with a small sandwich on wheat. It sounds like you have a healthy diet Carla, I just stick to the "anything in moderation" plan. Keep up the great work!!

GO JOHN GO!!!!!! You're more of a man than I am!! I had my Gatorade slushies last year on a 60 mile ride in 28 degree temps. It was brutal, I'll stay on the trainer until the salt and grime is off the road this year.

I am meeting some guys for a tempo run in the morning though. It's supposed to be 5 degrees and windy!! PLANTATION BURNERS??

Yes. My whole inheritance gone up in smoke. Now I have to work for a living...or win the lottery. Kidding of course, our family had a hard time in the depression, just ask my grandparents, they can't stop talking about it.

One to fun things. I am about to post on the Classifieds thread and I wanted to see if anyone could help me. My post will read: WTB - New Toes. I think are still in my bike shoe, frozen to the end of the shoe. IT was soooo cold yesterday and the cross wind gusts...let's just say ouch.  Needless to say, I wasn't dressed in my famous avatar outfit.

Did a MHR on the run last night.  12 minutes up to LT then all out for 8 minutes.  All out, as in, your heart beats so fast it fall all out in the street.  Holy crap, that wasn't fun.  Based on my data, I will probably not break the 7:00/mile for any long distances anytime soon.

Here is the results of the torture, I mean test:

WU: time=12:37.17, AHR=159, MHR=176, 1.74 miles, 7:14 avg pace
MS: time=8:01.77, AHR=184, MHR=186 1.19 miles, 6:43 avg pace (heart falls on floor with a splat)
CD: Time=10:00.74, AHR=154, MHR=186,  0.93 miles, 10:44 avg pace

That is about as high as I can get my heart rate without "going to see Elizabeth"

Today I get to do a simple swim, decending from 500 yds TT time by 100 yd increments, but increasing the speed each set.  Yuck.  I thought TT was an nice upper limit on time, not the starting point.  Oh well.

Actually this was about 1 mile out of T1 at IMWI, notice there are no other bikes around!

John!! Nice job on the LT test!! You'll be under 7:00 before you know it dude!! Keep up the great work!

What's up peepy-peeps?!

Its a good day today.

Hey Shaun, glad you're feeling better today.

Mentor Question: Bob, I know you recently did a 3hr trainer ride, and I may actually try this tomorrow.  What do you recommend to do to maximize the benefit I would receive from this?  I guess I would gain some benefit if I just spun at various gears for 3 hours, but yours (and others')  thoughts are welcomed.

Disclaimer: yes, I am out of my skull for even contemplating this.
