Complete as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes of:
10 Pull-ups
65 pound Thruster, 10 reps

Pretty unexciting day today. Only 11 rounds.

Strangely, I broke one set of pull-ups, and it was the 6th set.

Thrusters were kinda across the board after set 5... Thrusters (at any weight) really kill me, for some reason I just can't seem to draw breath while doing them, and it destroys my time.

Workout was RX'd at 5 rounds, but like ^^^, I also get gassed from thrusters and needed to cut it short due to time. even at three rounds, great workout, def left a nice sweat angel on the gym floor!

Today

Five rounds for max reps of:

Body weight bench press

Pull-ups (I did Dead Hangs)

Weight: 175

1.) 14, 11

2.) 11, 10

3.) 10, 10

4.) 10, 9

5.) 8, 8

Let me go out and say to anybody doing this one, make sure you keep your shoulder blades together and @ss on the bench at all times when pressing... don't hurt yourself going for more reps.

Started up with my 1RM tests today. Squat did better than expected (as Mike predicted) I hit 355 but my form got kind of ugly, started leaning forward a bit and ended up putting a lot of stress on my back, didn't hurt anything but that effort fatigued my back for everything else. I am confident I could get 360 if I tried it again fresh, outside chance at possibly 365, but that would be rough. After that went for my press and got 135 just as I expected, this one I knew exactly what I was going to get. This only ties my old PR from about 2 years ago so it's a bit dissapointing, but it is a decent improvement from where I started my strength cycle from. I am really going to start putting a lot of focus into improving shoulder strength, it is my glaring weakness right now. After that I was going to go for Deadlift my back was kind of sore from the squat and I didn't want to push it, especially since at big weights I tend to start letting my back round a little bit so I felt like this would be asking for an injury. I warmed up to do it just to test my back out and got up to 325 but after that one I knew I would be putting my back at risk to keep moving up. Will probably try this one again tomorrow or Saturday depending on how my back feels. After that went on to Bench press where I was a bit dissapointed again, only 205, I think I need to retry this one though also, might have just been fatigued from the day. 205 went up pretty easy so I jumped to 215, but failed, then down to 210 and failed again, blech. Oh well, 205 ties my PR from before I got into CrossFit about 5 years ago, after CF my bench dropped way down because I almost never did it and it's finally getting back up. Not too bad for still only doing it once a week though. Once I give this DL and bench another whirl I will report back!

I did OldPueblo's shoulder workout. I thought it was going to be easy from looking at it. I said to myself, "Oh, I got this one." OK, well, it didn't go as quickly as I thought. Push-ups and push-press aren't too bad for me. But, the dips and the cumulative effect got me. The first round went well. Then I got into the push-up position and got about 6 and realized that this was going to be a little more difficult...

5 rounds
25 pushups
15 push press at 95#
21 bar dips

Did my DL this morning, got 355, tried to do 365 after that but my back just wasn't having it and it was starting to round big time, might have been able to get it if I didn't care about my back, but, it's kind of important to me so didn't want to crack it!

After that did another workout:
3 rounds for time of
400m run
12 squat cleans 135lbs
9 handstand push-ups

Time was about 17 minutes I think, although I wasn't quite going full tilt on this one.

Later in the day went and played ultimate frisbee for an hour or so also, lots of fun. It was also a great workout, tons of sprinting (partly because we were all terrible at throwing a frisbee so we had to chase a lot).

Shelter Island 5k this morning. Looks like I have lost some speed off my peak but I'm still doing pretty good. I went too fast out of the gate and kind of blew up at the end but still pulled out a 19:41 so I'm pretty happy. It was good enough to get me 3rd in my age group also, woo-hoo!!! That's two of my goals I've been going after for a while now taken out in one weekend.

Hi kids!!!  So I am not Level I CrossFit Certified.  Kind of funny, no?  =)  You know what's funny???  I can't walk.  My legs are soooo shot from the cert this weekend that I walk like I'm saddle sore and sitting on anything is a four appendage process.  BUT it was so fun and I learned a TON and I'm so glad I went.  =)  I'm in the top pic, right side, blue shirt.  =)

You were at Leavenworth? I went to field artillery school in 97 and again in 01 with the guy in the center. He's wearing a shirt that says 13 Sept 1997. I ran that race too. Small world.

Sigh, was going to do yesterday's Wod, but lacking a place to work on those inverted burpees, i went for a spin class and then a grueling punishment workout instead.

Chris' Punishment workout:

2xmax reps, 135lb squat clean & press (6,4)

2xmax reps, pull ups (from dead hang) (12, 9)

2x5, 135lb stiff leg dead lifts

2x10, 45lb plate bar dips

2xmax time, dragon flags (not long haha)

2xmax reps, hand stand push ups (free standing, no walls) (7, 5)

Lots of fun, let me tell you.

missed the last couple of workout due to cutting for a stupid fashion show/modeling thing tonight. Let me just vent... Cutting water, taking Epsom Salt Baths, and ingesting Taraxatone/regular coke, makes you feel like .

I feel like the morning after a night of hardcore binge drinking, except possibly worse and without the headache.

Uhgg, the things we do for beauty. First thing I'm doing tonight after the show, Drinking as much H20 as I can consume. I feel like a crack addict the way i'm jonesin' for water right now.

hehe good job on the workouts the last couple of days guys.

Hello everybody, mind if I join in? I have been checking out the Cross-Fit website for awhile now, and finally decided to give it a shot. (Sort of). Since I do not have access to rings, I substituted push-ups for muscle-ups. The whole thing took me 15min (remember, beginner here).

100 Squats
5 push-ups
75 Squats
10 push-ups
50 Squats
15 push-ups
25 Squats
10 push-ups (should have been 20, just ran out of steam).

Way to go pueblo!

Welcome Jennie... Crossfit is addictive!!!!

Today I did a modified Jason... Last time I did a bunch of bar muscle ups I kinda tweaked my shoulder, so i'm gonna shy away from them for a while I think.

For time:
100 Squats
5 Pull-Ups/Dips (45lb Plate)
75 Squats
10 Pull-Ups/Dips (45lb Plate)
50 Squats
15 Pull-Ups/Dips (45lb Plate)
25 Squats
20 Pull-Ups/Dips (45lb Plate)

14:48

Absolutely Grueling. Last set of Pull ups felt like it took hours. Lots of breaks after the second set.

Mr. Crap, you do realize that "fashion show modeling" is cause for revocation of your man card? Seriously, though, I've read about water manipulation for bodybuilding contest prep and would not want to do that. Hope you rehydrated well.

I did Friday's WOD early. Last two sets of snatches I only did 5 reps with the 95 then wussed and did KB swings with the 24 kg. I started out ripping the 95 up and then it started getting very heavy. Had a cold earlier this week so why kill myself/risk injury my first workout back? This was a good WOD.

yeah mike I hear you, its crappy in all forms... I don't see how people like ryan reynolds do it for almost every film they are in. In good news though, I looked MASSIVE compared to the other guys in the show.

Ok, new rant. Todays CF wod. DON'T DO IT.

Five rounds for time of:
95 pound Hang Power Snatch, 15 reps
Run 400 meters

This is the one thing I have against crossfit. They do not give a proper amount of respect for lifts like the Snatch. I've only met 1-2 people in my life that could do an excellent Power snatch, and I doubt even they could do 75 of them in between running bouts... for time.  If any of you out there are really good at snatching... you've got my respect, but the average person (i include myself) just shouldn't be doing 15 snatches in a row... period. Instead, I did this.

95lb Hang Power Snatch, 5x5

Handstand Push Ups, 2x12

Pistol Squats, 2x8

(I didn't run because i run 3x a week anyways)

Anyways, good luck and be safe.

The question I've got for you, did you catch in half squat or full squat? I just can't seem to catch in full squat no matter how much I practice.
