I can feel my running form coming back now that I'm taking the runs more seriously (and bringing back frequency). 8:35 pace for my 5.1 loop today; I was routinely running that fast last October/November when I peaked for CIM. Napa is going to be a tougher marathon, the back road from Calistoga to Napa rolls a lot. But I've got 9 months to get ready. And I'll have The Pool In Calistoga for pre-race and post-race relaxation. I love that hotel, and I'm booking a room for Saturday night. I've decided to skip competing in Duathlon #1 in June and shoot for the July race instead. I want to blow my time on that course from last year apart, and riding with my tri club on Tues evenings is helping my bike speed. Last year, I phoned in the bike. My time is 1:52 for a 3/16/3 format and I think I can improve on that. Scott, make sure you work on your marathon nutrition. I think I finally got it figured out for a half marathon (water at every stop, and a gel at 5 and 9). For a training run, it felt great, and I was only 20 seconds off a PR. No problems with recovery after the half, was swimming and biking 2 days later. I wish I could get my nutrition strategy right for a full. I KNOW I could definitely run a sub-4 if I get it figured out. We'll see what happens in Ocotber! Nutrition has never been an issue for me on runs. That's cool. You must be half camel... (BTW, I weighed 151 this morning! Woo Hoo! I just need to drop 10 more by mid-July!) 10 MORE LBS!!! I'm 5'6" and typically weigh in at 153. I CAN NOT IMAGINE weighing 143 again. I don't think I've been that weight since I was 23! Good luck on that...you think that might be a bit aggresive? Hydration - I have to be careful. I think I have the World's Tiniest Bladder. LOL If I drink too much beforehand, I have to pee. If I drink too much during the race, I have to pee. Its annoying. I think that's where I may be having my problem in my marathons. I think I drink TOO much. It got to the point in one marathon, where I could hear liquid sloshing around in my stomach...NOT GOOD... |

Heh, I think we should turn that into a bumpersticker and put it on Sal's car. With cheesecake in bold of course... Can you tell I just wrapped up a stressful project? My level of stess is inversely proportional to the amount of time I spend on BT... x2. I hear ya. |

A few miles west of Pensacola, pretty much right on the border of Bama and Florida. AKA, where Ivan left a mark. Hehehe... yep, when you're from the Gulf Coast everything is in reference to the landfall of the hurricane's eye... ie My hometown is where Andrew made his 'second coming" . |
