I hear ya on the vanilla vibe. Me too.

I have a question--how do you properly store a wetsuit?

I'm hardly an expert (although my wetsuit definitely spends much more time in storage than on my body), but here's what I was told:

After you wear the wetsuit, rinse it off thoroughly in cool water, making sure you turn it inside-out to rinse out both sides. I usually take it in the shower with me after a race and rinse it off there, but a hose outside would be fine. Then leave it inside-out and spread it out or hang it somewhere to dry (I typically just leave mine hanging in the shower). When it's dry, hang it somewhere cool and dark. I read that you're supposed to hang it up, basically like you would a dress, but I don't really have a space that's out of the way and will let me hang it fully, so I fold mine in half over a hanger and keep it in a closet.

Dr Hammer - 2009-02-09 8:13 PM Hi all. I been keeping up with all the Manatee happenings but have nothing really too exciting training- or racing-wise to contribute.   Everybody has been doing so great.  Congrats to all on the great training and racing.  Me, I'm just vanilla.......  Have a great and fantastic eve!!!

Good to *see* you Suzie!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for being out of the loop for a while. I read all the posts and never thought that I can add anything to that was already said. I will say though, that it is great reading other people's blogs and posts. I enjoy reading them as it feels as I can learn a whole lot about someone - just by reading his/her daily blog and posts. It is like a reality show that the people who write daily (whether training related or not) - are starring in. Not only that, but it is all good without  eliminations and dismissals from a week to the next.

Sam: Thanks for sharing your bike fit experience. It is important to know. I am thinking of doing the same at one point - as I know that I need it.

I do exactly what Erin said. Seems to work fine. I have mine for over a year now and it looks - still in pretty good condition.

Beth: Have you noticed that shortly you'll cross the 20,000 posts mark? That's incredible!

I'm struggling a little.  I'm really not too enthused to bike on the trainer.  For some reason my feet go numb when I bike inside on the trainer.  It generally does not happen when I do outdoor rides.  It also doesn't happen while in spinning classes or biking on an exercise bike.

While I'm going to try to incorporate some outdoor rides on the weekend when the weather cooperates, does any one have any suggestions on alleviating the numbness?  I'm wondering if I need bigger bike shoes? I've shifted the cleat as far back as it can go so that I'm not pedaling on my toes but it still occurs.  I'm wondering if its just that I'm so heavy that I'll have to continue losing weight for the symptom to subside?

Any advice or tips are appreciated. I'm just so bummed that biking on the trainer is so unpleasant.  On the plus side, I have lost about 10 pounds over the past few weeks...so at least I'm heading in the right direction.

Unfortunately I don't have a trainer, so I'm not sure what might be causing it.  Do you use the same bike in your trainer as when you ride outdoors?  I'm wondering if you might be positioned differently when you are riding trainer vs road

I'm sure some others in the group will probably have some good tips

Congrats on the weight loss!

Congrats on the weight loss! That's a nice side benefit of tri training. I tend to get some numbness when I ride as well. It usually goes away when I loosen my shoes or take off my socks. When it starts, try wiggling your toes a bit when you're spinning.

Good luck and spring will be here soon for us in the north! I'm getting a little stir crazy riding indoors as well.

Sorry for invading Beth and Yanti! Just wanted to pay you all a visit!

You are amazing! Congrats on the 10 lbs. Unfortunately, I've gone about that much in the other direction, but as Iron training gets into full swing--hopefully that will change! Actually I gained about 15 as a result of a medication I was on, but have now lost 7-8, so I'm still chasing you!

Funny, I'm struggling with the opposite problem--indoor cycling, no problem--outdoor cycling, my toes go numb! Very strange.

A trainer puts your rear wheel up a few inches and gearing/resistance is slightly different as you know--these are enough changes to make a difference in how you pedal or the angles you have your joints at, and with feet, mm. can make a big dif!

Try paying close attention to your pedal stroke on the trainer--are you keeping your feet fairly level with the floor? There should be some flexibility in the ankle, but focus on keeping the feet fairly flat (i.e., neutral) and really focus on pedaling from the balls of your feet.  Also try keeping the bike just one gear harder than comfortable. The pressure will naturally make you pedal more correctly.

Try some of that, and Bob's thoughts, and see if any of it helps! How fast do your feet go numb, and is it your whole foot or certain parts? Is the left or right affected more or the same?

I have a Cyclops Fluid Trainer with a Cyclops Riser on the front.  Yanti's comments make me wonder if I should try lowering or increasing the front riser.  Perhaps the angle is just a little bit off from where it is on the road and it shifts my weight....its worth a shot.

I really hadn't given any thought to how the trainer raises the back wheel up. That's why I love this site and especially this mentor group.   Always good advice and support!

Of course you do! You're wicked strong and fast these days!

I'm sitting in my warm, toasty apartment, contemplating the run I really should do. On the one hand, I skipped a 5k race this morning (it was raining hard and it felt sooooo good in my bed) so I should go out and do something today. But on the other hand, it's really windy and raining and cold outside right now.

I have to decide in the next 30 minutes because I've got another date tonight!
