Hey all!
I seem to be back from the dead and feel better (not 100% but almost there).  Had my first real meal today since Saturday.  On the plus side I am down another couple of pounds and my racing weight will be perfect!

As for post race blues, I have the NOLA 70.3 registered and funny enough my wife told me last night that I should do the NY Marathon.  Hmm, okay, sure if I can get in.  I suspect she wants a trip to New York city but who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth.  Now to just get in....

i think the B2B newsletter (email) I received earlier today said it was in the mid 60's and wetsuit REQUIRED.

Yep ok I see it now, thanks.  Hmm.  I don't have a cap or booties yet.  Maybe I'll just do a double cap.

I called Inside Out Sports one of the vendors at the expo this week and they assured me they are bringing neoprene caps, booties, and gloves to the expo if you need to pick any up.

Just saw that non-webbed gloves would be allowed.  Hmm, may have to consider that.  I am a slow swimmer and may be out there for awhile.

Earlier in this thread there was some talk about the timing of the race and the incoming tide.  Will we get any benefit from it (similar to previous years) or are we on our own for this one?

They are claiming we will have the current this year, but logically, at some year that will no longer happen right? :-)

Someone over in the B2B forum (on the B2B website) was saying that we will be in "slack tide" so not much help. An hour later it will be great for the half folks but possibly not much for us. We'll see though. We have the benefit of salt water and wetsuits already :-)

Salt water and wetsuits make it a darn site less -er- challenging than other race venues

Wellp, the wetsuit is in the bathtub for the night, soaking. It'll be ready to go as well.

Ugh, darn if you aren't right.  The swim description says "incoming tide" with "very fast times", but maybe they didn't update it from last year.  Low tide at the inlet is 0659, and Wrightsville Beach is 0629.  The low was at least 90 mins earlier the previous two years.  I'm not worried about the swim, but I got pretty excited about the prospect of a sub 1 hour swim (the median the past 2 years) which now looks impossible.

I wonder how this swim will differ from my previous ones.  I am amazingly consistent, with 1:16 in 3 of 4 IM swims, and 1:13 in a known fast swim (LP).

Thanks for the update!

I am really teetering on the tri-short versus bike-short, especially when I started thinking about IMWI and how I was highly annoyed with not being able to get around people in the changing area.  With a tri-short I can just change outside the tent if it's crowded.

It's amazing how we spend time thinking about things that only take a small amount of time.

But the ramifications of such choices can be considerable. I don't own bike shorts and don't see a need for them so that's one choice I've already made

Try it this way. That pic is way too big, take it down to 500 or so width for posting.

For my bike, go to my album. Low quality crappy picture but at least it is up. I can't seem to post it in here. Just a few more days. Weather forecast is looking good. I am with Daniel on the tri shorts...I do all my riding in mine so that is not an issue. I am fussing with what to wear on the bike though- 45ish and being wet is kinda chilly! And by the end it will prob only be up to 60 or so, so thinking of a long sleeve tech shirt under my bike shirt. We'll see.

I'm seriously considering a sweater over my tri top & arm warmers that I can ditch halfway through. Maybe that's also a solution for you?

Someone mentioned a plastic bag under the jersey too, that is pretty interesting.  I've done that for marathons and it works well.
