Do you like Italian Ice's?

Rita’s 19th Annual First Day of Spring

March 20th.

Free regular size Italian Ice

http://www.ritasice.com/

That would almost be worth the drive to Atlanta for. (no Rita's near here) Yell

Come on down.  I'll be heading over about 4pm or so.

So far today I've slept, and watched cartoons. I did get outside for a couple of minutes with my daughter. It is gorgeous out. We shot a few baskets, but she tired quickly, so we sat on the steps and watched the pups play in the yard. She's napping now.

Oh, another good bit of news.  At our running workshop hree weeks ago we ran a 1/2 mile as hard as we could.  Not being a runner, I was very pitaful.  Last night we had another time trial and ran 1.1 miles.  I improved by 40 seconds.  So i am going in the right direction.

I looked at next year's school calendar today and the first day of school isn't until Aug 30, so we don't have to worry about the kiddos missing school when we are in NC!

disturbed275 - 2011-03-16 9:11 PM Hi ghoulies! Well I finally got outside on the bike for the first time this year!  60 degrees, but a lot of wind.  It was fantastic!

Fantastic Neal! The first of the year is always so good. (as long as there is no slush).

Mwahahaha. Yeah. It was even good in the slush. It's just the recovery from the slushy ride that sucks! LOL

Gouhlies, I need some advice.

I am 17 weeks out from Vineman half ironman. I have been running about 3 miles, one to two times/week. I have been on my bike twice this year (as in twice since January 1st). I have not swum since my accident in January, and while I may be able to start doing some breaststroke this weekend, I will not likely be doing freestyle for at least a few more weeks, maybe a month. I need to start making some hard decisions about whether or not to do the half ironman. I am currently about #115 on the waitlist. It is definitely moving faster now, about 5 to 10 spots per day. I need to decide before I get the email that my name is up for registration, which I anticipate could happen anywhere from 3 to 5 weeks from now. Currently I haveonly paid the $25 waitlist fee, so I'm not out any large amount of money if i decide not to do it. My coach/friend is saying I shouldn't try to do the race. I have been feeling iffy about it from the beginning, I honestly wasn't planning on doing a half this year, but 3 of my friends and workout buddies are doing this race, so I jumped on the bandwagon. What better place to be than in California, surrounded by vineyards and friends, right? I have been mulling it over, and just when I decide, and tell someone I'm going to do it, or not going to do it, I start doubting myself. My hubby and parents don't think I should do it, but will support meif I decide to do it. I haven't even done anything more than a sprint before. So, I have a dilemma. Do I do everything in my power to get ready, knowing that in the past when I do that, I end up injured, or do I sit back and say no, and spend the summer doing shorter races, closer to home, and hopefully join my friends at a half in the next year or two?

AMY.

you're GHOULIGANS have your back whatever you decide.

but i would suggest the latter - spend the summer doing shorter races, closer to home.

the 1/2 will always be there and your friends will too!

you want your first 1/2 to be the best experience possible.  waiting until youre 100% will guarantee that it will be.

just my thoughts.
