Did a brick for the second day in a row but a much different workout. Yesterday was a lot more intensity. Today was a lot more volume. Yesterday on the bike was hilly, today was flat. Fun experiment that I would recommend. I worked a lot on my cadence today and was also happy with that. I do auto lap for the bike in 3 mile increments  and only the first of the 8 laps did I fall under an 87/RPM average.

Yesterday

12.1 miles, 18.6/mile, 150/BPM in 39 minutes on a very hilly course

3.1 run, 9:04/mile, 149/BPM in 28 minutes

Today

24.4 miles, 18.2/mile, 141/BPM in 1:20 very flat course

3.6 miles, 9:47/mile, 141/BPM in 35 minutes

2 bricks in 2 consecutive days??? Dude!  You're a beast! O_O

Very nice!

Thanks man. Bricks are certainly challenging but better to get used to them now.

I, on the other hand ditched my brick this morning due to cold, smoke(forest fires) and wind. 36 this morning. Below freezing tonight...Bundle up, it could be a cold bike ride...

Forest fires is a pretty legit excuse. No way for the long haul you want to breath all those toxins in. I've ridden on some mid 30 mornings and the worst part is the feet freezing.

Scott - 82 mile bike ride at that pace!  You are an official BEAST.  Way to go.

I am taking today off.  I worked on the yard all yesterday and I am sore and tired.  Daughter's going away party for Guantanamo send off is June 11th, but I leave on 6/2 for mom's knee replacement surgery and don't know if I'll be back or not before the party so I was getting crunched for time.  I have been described as always trying to fit 10lbs of shEmbarassedt in a 5lb bag and that's a pretty accurate description.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!!!!!

Linda

Whoa!  Another beast doing bricks!  This one after an 82 mile bike ride??? Wow!  Very impressive work!  You must have been in aero position huh!  That's awesome man!  As for me, I had a nice 1350 all freestyle swim at the pool yesterday.  The "sweet spot" drills are working out really well as I have tried the "looking up" version of it now.  Still feel balanced and my average pace per lap has improved!  Yay!

Today's workout will be ~16 miles cycling up to and around Griffith Park.  The hills around there will burn my legs to a crisp!  O_O  I'm glad there will be some flats hehe

That should take care of the bacon and eggs...18mile bike followed by about a 4 mile run. 55minutes and 35 minutes. Legs felt pretty good coming off bike. no world speed running records but good none the less!

Time for a healthy vitamin and mineral drink....also known as  a cold beer with steak! Mmmmm!

Nice workout bro!  Nice reward you got there!  What kinda cut is the steak?  Prime New York Strip?

As for me today's 17mile bike ride up and around Griffith Park proved challenging due the constant wind blowing in my face.  I tried hugging the hills but that didn't help much hehehe

The wind blew away the smog and I got to see LA from the observatory!  Yay!  So nice and clear.  =)

I'm gonna grill some Prime cut New York Strip steaks tomorrow after running! Mmmmmmm! Happy Memorial Day everyone! ^_^

Hey folks! had to go "dark" the last couple days - very busy finishing preparations and executing a Scout (Boy, Girl and Cub)Memorial day project that I head up. On Saturday, we gathered about 200 volunteers to visit over 70 different cemeteries, find and decorate (place flags on) 1300 veteran graves.  This is every known cemetery and every known veteran buried in my County, and some in the next County over.  It was a logistical nightmare, but we pulled it off i am happy to say!

I've enjoyed catching up on all of ya'lls posts.  So much progress, I love to see it!

@Thor, I'm envious of that tri suit man, hope you'll post some action shots....I don't think we'll have any problem picking you out of the crowd!

I had to skip workouts th, fr, and sa, but tried to make up for it on Sunday.  Did a mock tri: 750 meter swim at TT pace (16'), biked 30' - mostly high Z2 low Z3 (stationary bike - don't trust distance/pace), then 30' run in high Z2, with a mid Z4 finish picturing the glory of crossing the finish line in a couple weeks! Smile

Enjoy the holiday everybody!

Yup, I will be the one surrounded by the crowd of paramedics..

Have you done a real tri yet? I am leary of doing a mock sprint tri. Might intimidate me for the Olympic I am doing in 7 weeks.

Another brick today. 38.5 mile bike in 2:03 for an 18.7 average followed by a 15 minute 1.5 mile slow run. Felt great on the bike but the legs were toast so I took it really easy on the brick but didn't forgo it completely.

I think you should do one man! I know you can do all the distances stand alone. But can you do everything one after another. You'll do great.. I would however increase your bike volume.

I get in at least one good hill session per week. Today the last quarter of the ride was all uphill.

Great ride you had doing the 82 @19.6/mile. That's cranking for that distance.

yeah, Biking is my strongest. I did the MS Ride last year from Quincy down to Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 78 miles, and I had an average of 19.9.     Faster on a TT bike though.

Well, I'm glad you are at least getting some hill's in. 2 weeks!

OK, I need advice. I didn't get a chance to workout Saturday or Sunday due to festivities, etc. So, I went this afternoon. Well here on the VA/NC border, it can get hot and humid and it was. So, I biked 45 mins and had every intention of running 30, but I got really hot in the pavement with the sun shining down on me. I hydrated well and everything, just started feeling sick and HOT, so I walked some. I realize there are going to be races in the heat -- granted they are in the morning. But, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for working out in the heat and getting used to it.
