I had a great swim workout Friday and a short run outside today. Did a lot of stretching after the run to try to avoid the piriformis tightness I've been experiencing after my runs.I have a little dilemma..... the half marathon I wanted to do as my 'A' race at the end of May is 80% sold out already. I don't want to miss registering but don't want to forfeit yet another race fee if I can't build up my distance by then. What would you guys do?

That is tough. Sometimes it is good to pushed by a race that is coming up. Sometimes it just is too stressful. I think it comes done to answering the question, "do you want to give yourself a challenge right now?"

Work is sucking the life outta me!  Scholarship deadlines so overtime all week and worked another 8 hours today...yes and the three hour round trip drive. I do believe I should get paid overtime for my drive time too.  I managed to get small training in this week but nothing close to the training I was suppose to do.

One more week and then I am headed to So Cal! Can't wait! Get to see my lil punk and a half too. Run on the beaches...bike along the coast...it is all good.

Just get through the week, right? I know it is easier said than done.

kevinbe - 2012-02-02 9:15 AM I managed to knock off :30/mile off of my time on  my 8.25 miler today in two weeks time.  A great run!  already looking forward to next week.

Congrats on the improvement?  You should reward yourself - maybe a trip to the beer store??? I've got Hennepin Saison and a Southern Tier IPA ready to go!

Keep up the great work!

I had a Saison for the first time last month by Widmer.  Pretty dang good.

Got in a 5K run and a 2500 yard swim:

WU: 250

Main 2 x 1000

CD 5 x 50

Looking at my schedule for the week and with the over time required at work, I am not sure where or how it is all going to happen.  I think I penciled out something that will work. And, it will require me to step out of my comfort zone and use two different pools other than the one I usually use...this will be a good thing.

Using two other pools doesn't seem like a big deal but I sure did comfortable at my regular pool.  So it will be good to do something different, not crazy but uncomfortable none the less.

Got my walk and run in today!  Shadow and I walked 1.2 miles then I decided to see how he'd do with a little running.  We ran about .6 miles... he kept up pretty good until the end so we had to walk a little bit.  I took him back home then ran another loop around the neighborhood for a total run of 1.2 miles.  My plan is to go to bed early tonight and get up and walk with him again in the morning.  I'm really trying hard to get focused again and train regularly.  I know I need to take it slow so I think shadow and I are going to be doing a lot of walking.  I have however lost 3 pounds from last week thanks to a much much better diet... Lots more fruits and veggies and I've really managed to cut back on my soda  Tomorrow after work I should get a bike ride in too.

Hey All -

I just want to check in and see if anyone has any advice to help me with my plantar fasciitis.  According to the physical trainer at my school - I'm damn tight and my plantar, my ITB and the problem with my hip is all a result of this tightness.  I'm going to the doctor on Friday to get some physical therapy but I'd like to hear from y'al what has worked for you in the past.

Plan for the week:

Tuesday - Depending on the hip - either 20 minutes of walking on the treadmill or aqua jogging
Wednesday - 45 on the trainer
Thursday -  either 20 minutes of walking on the treadmill or aqua jogging
Friday Off
Saturday - 45 minute trail walk
Sunday - 60 min bike

Have a great week everybody!

re pf: long time sufferer. The key for me was stregnthening the foot. Ankle rotations, 6o each way a night. gas pedals, so moving your foot back and forth like on and off the gas pedal. Lots of yoga and downward facing dog and other calf stretches. Running barefooted. Quicking my turnover. Another one is sitting with your feet flat on the floor and just scrunching up your toes.

Do them everynight.

I received an awesome compliment from a guy at my pool yesterday after I got out.  We talked for a little bit about my past training and how I made swimming look effortless (it my look like it, but it most definitely is not lol).  It made me want to get back into competing... for about a split second.

I got in a run yesterday since I missed it on the weekend and another one today... wow was it slow today!  But I also biked beforehand today.  I ended up putting more effort into the bike than I wanted before the run since this was my first real double workout day with the two.  There's like a tropical storm just hanging around down here.

Tomorrow: swim 2000 yds.
Thursday: bike 30 min, run (week 2 day 2)
Friday: Swim 1200 (straight, endurance swim), Bike 45 minutes

Hey all - had my best swim ever this morning.  When I hopped in, I was feeling bummed about my feet/sore hip.  So I decided to do 1000 yards to feel like I accomplished something.  Once I got there - I just decided that I was already two thirds of the way there so I just took my time and managed to hit 1 mile.

When I began the year, I was psyched since I had three major goals - run a HM, bike a century, and swim a mile.  So, one down two to go.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

I would like to continue to take time off of my run pace while increasing mileage for marathon in May.

I need to maintain swim/bike totals in prep of starting HIM training in march.  3 weeks away.

Goal to be at 185 or below at months end.

Missed Mondays swim/run.  too sick from pizza on sb sunday!  booo!

4x75 on :20 rest

Good luck on your goals!  You've got three weeks from today to make your weight loss goal.  Plenty of time.  I'd be willing to bet that if you accomplish your Run/Swim/Bike goals - you will start March at 139!
