Master 3195 Just South of Boston | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up Its still early but the snow forcast for today is looking like a false alarm. All the kids activities were cancelled in anticipation of snow happening, but as of now we have zero snow anywhere. Oh, well, that just less driving around for me today. I have a full body massage scheduled for 1 PM today, and I am SO looking forward to it. I love these things. Should feel good. Did 1.5 hours on the trainer this AM. Felt good. Have a 1 hour run scheduled for tomorrow, then rest up for base phase 2 of my plan. training going up to 10 hours/week over the next month. I'm ready for it! |

Veteran 213 Lake Monticello, Virginia | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up 98 days out from the American Diabetes Association Madison Tour de Cure 100k Ride. Starting a 12 week plan on Monday. Week 1 consists of three rides totaling 50 miles. I am really looking forward to the challenges of training as well as the event itself. Having this in my calendar will get me to train at the pointy end of the stick! Also, I feel good knowing that I am doing this for a good cause, one close to my heart. I appreciate the support I have been given by this group in the short time I have been here. Thank you one and all! Edited by T1 rider 2012-02-11 11:27 AM |

Extreme Veteran 608 Iceland | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up Happy Sunday Everyone! I am so excited about Lance Armstrong racing Panama 70.3 today and I will follow it on the net. I have a little bet going with my husband about how he will do and believe me it is a bet I don't want to loose (involves dishwasher activities lol) I am about to hop on the bike for a 1:30 trainer ride followed by a 25min brick run and then I get some well deserved computer time afterwards while my husband does a 2,5 hour bike ride. Will write more later and also finally get some inspires out |

Expert 859 Perth, Australia | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up Happy Sunday from me too, although it's almost over - I've just put my Munchkin to bed and am about to hop on the trainer. My beloved is in Japan so I didn't get out for a ride this morning. Perth is full of cyclists at the moment as we have come criteriums throughtout the city - not quite as exciting as Lance racing though, really interested to see how he goes. |

Master 3195 Just South of Boston | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up I'm watching IM Panama 70.3 as well. Just checked in on the IMLive! blog and it appears LA is about 1:30 off the lead on the bike. Freezing cold here this AM. Will need to add another layer for my run later this AM. I slept in today, and it felt great. Had 9+ hours of sleep, and I guess I needed it! My usual early AM run is postponed until later this AM. right now I"m making breakfast for the family (french toast, bacon, fruit salad). I'm having some whole wheat cereal w/ banana & blueberries added. And coffee -- an absolute must on Sunday AM |

About 5 miles in I got some second wind and finished the run at a 9:10 pace which is 15 seconds faster than other recent runs. Edited by Mike_D 2012-02-12 1:53 PM |

We are now back home where she is recovering. She is sore, but that is to be expected. Today is day 1 of the ironman training plan and I just finished a 4.26 mile run and a 14 mile bike ride. Now it is time to go tend to the horses while dinner is cooking in the oven. |

Master 3195 Just South of Boston | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up Kelly -- hope you feel better soon. Sounds like a tough few weeks. And cheers to you for running a race at near 0 temps! That is some HTFU racing. Week 5 is off to a good start w/ a nice 2700 yard swim. Feeling faster & smoother in the water all the time. Cheers to masters swim teams!! |

Kelly, I so hope this is just a very small speed bump and you're back to full health soon - that mole looked so cute. Racing with frozen feet takes some serious commitment - respect is due :-) Rhonda, nothing worse than your child being sick, hopeful for a fast recovery Mike, well done on week 5, great to hear that the swim is improving and that you are enjoying it so much. My hubby is still away in Japan so no early mornings for a few days but I have a race this Sunday so good to have an easy week. Bit nervous as it's a hilly course and I haven't done nearly enough hills over the last few months, eek. |

Extreme Veteran 608 Iceland | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up OK I am starting to panic! Just found out that they close the registration for the Abu Dhabi Tri tomorrow at lunch so I have to make a decision before that time if I want to go with the longer distance or still sign up for the shorter one. I change my mind every 2 seconds and I haven't heard from my coach since Saturday morning.... Just posted in the Triathlon Talk and asked for some advise but no one has answered yet. I am NOT freaking out...well maybe a little I hate decisions! |

Do you think they are worth it (to you)? (a very relative question, I know). I've never used race wheels. I'm going to borrow a set from a friend for a time trial at the beginning of March. I'll give an update after the race. I'm excited about giving them a try! |

Do you think they are worth it (to you)? (a very relative question, I know). I have used a back race wheel during some races when my husband was allowed to use his disc wheel instead of that race wheel (otherwise he will use it himself ). I don't know if it makes much of a difference for us "average" bikers so until now I could never justify the costs for an own pair as they are so freaking expensive! I rather work on making myself fitter on the bike as that make such a bigger difference |

Master 3195 Just South of Boston | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up Today's run is in the books. Watching the weather today, and our 'winter' continues with temps in the mid/upper 40's for the next week. I find this to be fantastic as I won't have any snow to deal with, and my outdoor training won't be so cold! Maybe I'll even get the bike out and ride it like it was meant to be! |

Expert 1099 Orlando, FL | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! So we made it to the middle of February! I am down a couple of pounds, and much more accountable than I would have been without you guys being here - thanks so much! Still REALLY busy with work and volunteering - you should see my house! But, I am fitting in some workouts and extra calorie burning where I can - walked home from the scout meeting last night (about a mile) and wondered why we ever drive there each week. Now I'm taking a work/lunch break, off to the Y to do my run (still bad pollen here, everything is blooming) - this week is r9w2 x 2 + r8, so not too different than last week, I should be fine. Got a new playlist ready to roll so I can stand the treadmill. May everyone continue to heal, be happy, and healthy and HAVE FUN! |

Elite 3913 far northern CA | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up I was really blah yesterday during my workouts. I'm super tired today. I decided not to do my 60 minute trainer ride just to give my body a little extra rest. I'll do a little bit of easy, slow running this evening with the Running Clinic that I coach but nothing more. I hope I'm not trying to catch a cold or something. |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: KathyG's 2012 Awesome Mentor Group-Full up Sorry guys I've been distant last few days. It's hard to put into words how I'm feeling but tired of struggling with injury and rehab and rather just not talk about it at times. We did decide to have the puppies come live with us and should be at our house within a week. I have some current photos of Monet and her 5 daughters as well as the set up we will have here when the pups come over. Today at PT worked on my freestyle and ways to help it be better for my shoulder. Some hanges made it possible to swim with much less discomfort in my shoulder. I'm walking with a cane now as they prefer to have better gait w/crutch or cane, then limp without. |
