Pro 4313 McKinney, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread My cousin and his buddy are coming in from Chicago to do the race. I'm assuming they'll be at the dinner as well.....they have a combined 15 IM's between them, so this isn't as new to them. I'm sure that by next week I'll know if they are going to be at the dinner with me (I'm in no matter what). Let's all circle back the Monday of race week on here to discuss a meet up and/or finding each other for the dinner. |

Extreme Veteran 492 Frisco | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread I had one of those "oh crap, is that my knee" moments this morning. Woke up and it was a little sore right underneath the kneecap, but feeling better now. Still might hold off on running for a day or two just to be sure. Man, thats a scary feeling! But after a really hard weekend run and then a track workout last night I guess maybe a little soreness is to be expected. On a good note, I got the last of my race gear in today. My Giro Air Attack w/shield arrived at my LBS today and I picked it up at lunch. Here is what my April looked like

Then Sunday and Monday it felt like I'd been run over, Tuesday felt a little better, today better. I haven't worked out since Saturday but I'm hoping to 100% by Friday so I can get in a couple work outs. Edited by JAngell 2013-05-01 6:36 PM |

Probably won't have enough focus to do so. Would love to meet everyone, haven't decided on the banquet yet. Does anyone have any idea what they are serving? My gf is flying in and is my support group, she's a multi IM finisher so no worries on that front for me. April's #'s. Hit a new high on running (200 miles . Master 2468 Muskego, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Planning for family is super easy. All the parking garages near the finish are $5 for the day. P,entry of bars/restaurants on the canal, movie theater across the street to kill time during the bike. There is always the mall, but we've spent enough money already right? |

Master 2468 Muskego, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread My training looks like a$$ compared to all of you. With the late entry and the move to Tennessee at the beginning of the month, I've just been doing what I can. With only a one week taper, I've still got a bit of time to get it all together. It's my 7th, so I know what kind of suck I'm heading towards Swim - 6500 (not a typo).....run-40.13 ( not a typo)......bike-364 (not bad if I was in month one of training).....luckily, IMFL is just a short 6 months away. I'll be trained up real nice for that one.....or not |

Member 43 | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Hey everyone, Long time lurker... I feel kind of creepy posting this but I've been following along for the past few months reading ya'll's posts. I figure now's a good a time as any to sort of introduce myself... My name's Lionel and my bib# is 1091. This will be my 1st Ironman, first triathlon, and first long distance event besides a half marathon. I've been putting in work since I signed up for this about 10 months ago while deployed. It gave me something to focus on besides being away from home and it was great/lucky that I had semi regular access to a pool while deployed. I got home a few months ago and have been putting the hammer down on the bike but still don't feel adequate in that event. Anyways just wanted to say what's up to all of you guys and thanks for posting all the extra info like road conditions etc. Also your training recaps have kept me focused and I feel like I'm right in the average of all of you... I have one more peak week then two taper weeks into race day. I've learned a lot from this little thread. I can't wait to get this over with. I hope to see you all out there!!! |

Member 103 DFW, Tejas | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Now I'm a tad pissed at myself after looking at all your training times. Not worried about the run as I've trained and run 6 marathons in last 6 month but just 338 miles on the bike last month worries me even though I did get 614 in March. Also a little worried about 17 miles swimming last month, lots of shorter swims, not many longs. Guess I will have to make up for that in the next 17 days. |

Regular 217 The Sipp | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread I am Darwin on that list of number by the way (my first name). I have been out of the country for most of April and have not been able to swim, but here are my totals for April. Most of the bike and runs on a stationary bike and Treadmill...Yuck! The 167 miles of bike was what I got in before I left at the beginning of April.
I am close to 40K yards swam before I left though, and will have a week when I get back to get some more good swimming in. I have tickets to the dinner but am not sure if I am going to it or not as usually they are very crowded. I got my wife the silver VIP thing, so hopfully that will keep her happy while I race. |

Very true. I caught myself comparing everyone's training to mine and got kind of worried myself. I've done what I can with what I had and now I'm just ready to race to the best of my ability which isn't going to be as fast as everyone else on here. But one thing is for sure...I'm going to take in the experience, the good and the bad and enjoy it....well maybe not enjoy all of it, but at least get through it. |

There are people that average 8 hours/week of training than can finish an IM in 9 hours. There are people that average 24 hours/week that won't break 15 hours. It's all relative to the individual. |

I remember a race report from one of the previous IMTX races that the person fully admitted they were undertrained to the point that their longest bike ride for the whole training process was less than 70 miles. I don't think that was his intention, but that's how it worked out life-wise and he was still a finisher for his first IM (I think in 16+, but enjoyed the hell out of it)....lots of ways to get through this as GMAN mentions. |
