I could do that...  As I've no gym to go to, I have to come up with creative ways to get things done in the condo.  I don't think I'll knock over TOO much stuff by doing handstand push ups.

In P90X they recommend a good substitute for pull ups is using those stretchy rubber cords (with handles) in a seated motion - uses similar muscles?

Aaaah - that's a good idea too, and I could probably pick some of those up on the cheap.

My personal home gym consists of two sets of 40 lb adjustable dumbbells from Walmart, elastic bands, and a doorway pull-up bar.  It is sufficient for my needs. Pants are optional.

I should check in Target next time I'm there for what they might have - thanks for the suggestion... it's possible that I could just make this work!

Yes!!  That ^^^.   Anything that works the lats could work.  Hell .. even bench dips (with a chair) are better than nothing.  Working on ideas for the lower body challenge.  This is hard for me to work into my crossfit crap though .. but it's a challenge .. so thus I will challenge myself!!!

Resistance bands could easily fill the void.  You could even attach them to a wall and bend over and use a lat-pull type motion. From there, you could also go right into a swim stroke exercise.

Dips are more for the triceps.

Lower body - lunges are awesome. one-legged squats, too. Step-ups (hold weights on your shoulders to increase the difficulty) rock as well... all three will help your cycling, too.

Stuff to think about for keeping up my fitness in the off-season.  Now if this race would just effing GET here so that I can do it and be done... THEN I can really think about the off-season!

I put the elastic bands over the pull up bar for various pulldown motions.  Sometimes I sit in a chair to get the distance to the bar right.

I started using this system in a rented apartment where I did not want to put holes in the wall.  The pull-up bar is a clever thing that just hooks on the door frame without holes or making any marks.  I could probably find the bar online if you are actually interested in getting one.

I most likely will be interested, but not until after this race is over.  Until then - I'm just going to bide my time with s/b/r

Never again doing a November IM race!
