It's not you. It's the drugs. How long do you need to be on them? Will you be able to taper off?

It's not you. It's the drugs. How long do you need to be on them? Will you be able to taper off?

One more week for the steroids but then could be months to get back to normal....depends on how long it takes to get out of your system and everyone is different...but I've been told at least 6 months with dieting and execise as a starting point... Especially given I was on such high doses for while...

immune suppressant and the other anti inflammatories I am on indefintley... Which means the sun sensitivity in particular will be an issue with bike riding etc but hopefully in time i will figure it out...

I'm hopeful that the side effects are mostly the horrible steroids including the bloating, weight gain, and spotty teenage skin!!!

On the plus side the work challenge starts Thursday which is a walk at least 10,000 steps a day wear a pedometer thing... My shin splints are back (the first time I got them was the first time I had rapid weight gain on steroids so at least I know what I'm dealing with!!) but there is a conversion for cycling and swimming so...

Exercise bike etc here I come!!!!

As team captain I can't really slack off...team support etc should help

that's my last day on steroids so will set myself some goals for the 12 weeks of the challenge and see how I go...

Thinking I should blog the whole thing to help me but anyone that has been sidelined by serious illness and/or high dose prednisone as its always so hard to come back from this stuff...

You can do it. You have the determination and drive. Once those steroids start working out of your system, you will no doubt start to feel a whole lot better about yourself. Hate the shin splints, cycling & swimming should help.

I think a blog is an excellent idea. It would allow you to chart your progress. On days when you're feeling frustrated, you'll be able to see how far you've come.
