lastcall2003 - 2008-05-14 11:31 PM so, where is Perdido?

A few miles west of Pensacola, pretty much right on the border of Bama and Florida.  AKA, where Ivan left a mark.

Hehehe... yep, when you're from the Gulf Coast everything is in reference to the landfall of the hurricane's eye... ie My hometown is where Andrew made his 'second coming" .

Even the mid-atlantic tries to get into that biz...I used to live where Isabel's upper reach went...I vacation where Isabel touched down. I hate Isabel...but not as much as the folks in Gulf hate Andrew, Ivan, Katrina (and all the other ones I can't remember)...

OK, so I already have Jen's opinion (I think it was along the lines of "you're weird"...) but I found a 12-hour running race near me in October. Is it wrong to be looking at it longingly? I did an 8-hour run in a past life...I sucked, but the idea is still exciting. 5 mile loop. (There's also a 24-hour version, but I'm thinking this is something I should work into. - oh, and there's the matter of talking Sugar Daddy into it...)

Hi Nibbs

Looks like I'm werking late one more night - but, on the plus side

after tonight I will have delivered enough stuff to keep two groups of people busy for the next 2 weeks at least , yeah - I'm a giver like that

I've decided that I'm not going to come into the office in the morning since I need to leave for the airport by 9:30 anyway and I will most like be here until after 9 pm again.

I'm sure he will be fine with it

As much s I love running, I think that one hits the level of insanity.  Now once I get on my own schedule next week I can go out longer in the morning pre work (YAY!!! I hate wasting half an hour runs, I love distance)

You would actually pay to do that to yourself? My IT bands inflame at the thought On the flip side, if it included something I enjoyed and produced the "You're crazy" reaction from others, yeah, I'd consider it.

i just want to break out into a rendition of "Always Look on the Brigh Side of Life"

C'mon, Scott. Everybody smiles at Monty Python!! I love Julie's outlook on life. Everyday is a gift, believe it or not. It is up to you to enjoy it or skulk through it until 3..2...1.. times up and it's over. Trust me. I know about being slow and getting beat and laughed at. I choose not to hang out with that crowd. I race for myself. I want to improve and pout a bit when I don't, but them it's back to the drawing board. Somebody tech saavy needs to post the pick from GalaxyQuest. "Never give up, never surrender!" I have run more in the last 2 months than I have ever run at this point in a triathlon season, yet I have no PR's to show for all those miles of pain and agony. It is frustrating, but it will not ruin my life or make me a lesser human being because I am not a fast runner. Life will go on. This is the challenge on which I thrive. And everyone on Nibbs as fantastically supportive and encouraging. I don't think anyone on this thread has ever thrown out HTFU or Suck It Up Buttercup as advice when you are really down and venting. A brief look at Nibbs: Dee - a triathlete in the making trapped at werk Beth - not only a triathlete, but a professional, a supermom, and a very experienced air traveler! Kendra - don't know if she's done a tri, but she has cutted out a few half-mary's with acute plantar fascitis(?) and a librarian to be reckoned with! Sal - triathlete, runner, husband, father, businessman and of course, maker of cheesecake! Heather - not sure if she has done a tri yet but she is definitely getting to be a tire changing wizard and if you need to set up sports tournaments or get approval for stadium spin classes, she's your woman! Cat - triathlete, professional, courageous warrior against a chronic illness, but she will never give up! The big question is has she found her fishnets and made her pumpkin soup? Julie - a part-time Nibbs, but a full time inspiration, and one heck of a sports photographer. Just look at her blog. Kristen - a triathlete who loves to run and loves her wine and lovers her kids and her sugar daddy! Jen - an incredibly intelligent triathlete with apparently very intelligent cats who steal car keys Judi - triathlete who loves to run and is so dedicated to running she frequently gets her mileage in the parking lot at work. She also recently escaped a sucky job and keeps a very tidy house while working full time, raising two teenage kids, and training for tris. Scott - you fit in here as a triathlete (yes, it's true) who has recently battled through a vicious divorce, moved cross country, can play a mean guitar(with attractive photos playing said guitar) run a marathon, introduce your GF to the wonderful world of cycling, and give your kids a healthy perspective of competition instead of the "if you don't win, you lose" mentally that your ex seems to love so much. Well, those are my before bed thoughts. I hope I didn't miss anyone. You guys are the best. I can't count the times when I've gotten way too serious about competition and have really beat myself up that y'all have put it in to perspective. Have a great night!!

Wow Pam!  Awesome summary...that was just awesome...

dang girl...that is amazing...can you do that once a week...and i can just read your blog and know what is going on in everyones lives! GREAT SUMMARY! and I do intend to be around a bit more! just got to find time! can anyone spare any time, for me!?

Hi Julie!

Well, I worked until the network went down. Does that count? (It's still down. I just checked.)

How are you today? How's Mike doing? How's your Dad doing? How's your sister doing? How's, um, everyone else (because I can't remember the rest of your family's names) doing?

oh and I am great...besides feeling like a hot dog on a rotiserrie...in my house in this 95+ degree weather with NO air condition....even with a swim, I am not feeling so refreshed! I may go play in the sprinklers with my dog! she loves water! and as for my brother, he sounded so much better today when I talked to him. I just got a message from one of the BTers that he swims with and he is going to see him...I hope to get a full report on how he looks when he returns from the visit....and as for my dad...he is doing better and looks like he will be coming out here next week to spend a week with us, my sister is in Dallas staying at my brothers HUGE house and is scared to death at night! but otherwise good! and the other brothers. I do have two other brothers, one here that went to culinary school and cooks for us a couple times a week...I love it! and the other is in Texas and I never get to see him...but he is doing good! so that is my family in a nutshell! and you...how about a pic of you behind comeangetit!?! huh huh huh~???
