Nah, the rules are still in place (since we didn't actually come up with half of them, except no "LOL", we just haven't rehashed them in awhile. No need, at the moment. The rules are really just enforcements of overarching BT TOS. We just have to be particularly careful about them here so the mads continue to allow us to TAN.

It's cold as ballz here too...ick. Now even I'm starting to complain about the weather. People here gripe when it drops below 50. The teens are a bit too cold for me. I went running last night and it wasn't bad since I was moving and all, but I was glad to come inside

For here, 25 is pretty cold. And our house does not heat evenly. I feel bad for our basement roommie!

I've experienced very cold weather - with the windchill, it'd drop to -20 in Boston. It sucks a$$. I'm a little girl and get cold easily...in the teens is about my limit

no.  they moved me out of a fully furnished windowed ginormous office into a room that used to be a broom closet with one desk and a bookshelf in it.  weak sauce.  i am trying to tell myself that this is ok because i will be traveling lots more so don't need the space.  but the fact of the matter is this desk is going to turn into a giant pile of clutter in about 5 seconds.

yikers.  that is crazy.  companies do NOT value their employees anymore.  no wonder nobody sticks around anywhere.

that is a very nice cushion and starting fund for your little bike business.  i think i want to go back to grad school and work in academia forever after my little time in manufacturing.  i want to be able to use my brain, try and learn new things always, but never be slave to my cell phone/crackberry/travel schedule again.

I think companies don't value their employees because in part, and more frequently, employees aren't committed to their workplace. At least with our generation (I mean folks around my age, mid20s/early30s) and the kids following us, many people think that they just need to work a year or two at a place, and then head out to move up to a bigger position somewhere else - they don't want to put in the effort to work their way up. Our parents and probably a small group after are a dying breed of people who worked for the same company for 30+ years. My dad was forced to retire after 28 years with the same company (because they could bring in younger and CHEAPER people) - he was VERY upset. My grandfather worked for Chrysler from 1938 to 1975!! That's crazy. Granted, business models are changing and so I think both phenomena are related (people not staying long vs turnover by management). But still, I do find that with a lot of younger folk, they don't want to put in the "work" so to speak. It's all about moving up faster and making more money.

I'd also caveat that my dad's family is from the midwest where it seems that hard-work-ethic is more valued than here on the East Coast.
