deehtz - 2009-11-06 12:46 PM I got my jog in this morning, but the weirdest thing happened.  About 5 min. into it, I stopped at a corner to stretch.  This guy (probably at least late  60s pulls up and parks his pickup.  He heads towards me, asks if I am heading out or just finishing a run.  Then proceeds to tell me that running, biking, etc. doesn't do my health any good.  I DON'T want a conversation with this guy, so I just shrug and say I just do it for fun.  Then he says, "Yeah, my son smokes marijuana "for fun"  and the endorphin high from exercise does the same thing to a person's health.  Running and biking are  very bad for your health."  Then he hands me a card and says to check it out on his website.  He also says that he is a "class 2" bike rider meaning that he could ride with Lance if he came to town.      Yeah, right!  I so do not believe THAT one.

Anyway, at that point, I took off jogging.  I haven't gone to his website because if he has a counter on his site, I don't want to encourage him.    The whole thing was rather bizarre.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed my jog!

Wow, that guy sounds like a character! I always find it funny when people compare exercising with self-destructive habits. And by finding it funny, what I really mean is that it makes me so angry I want to jump out of my skin...

Yeah,  I jogged faster than usual today.  I think I may have him to *thank* for that!  LOL

lol, I think I would have picked up the pace after that too!

x2 on kudos for not arguing. I'm generally pretty even-keeled and non-confrontational, but I've been very grumpy lately and I may not have been able to keep my cool.

Like, I'm not running for my health.  I have to stay in shape so I can outrun the cops.

skrtrnr - 2009-11-06 8:15 AM MORNING GHOULIES.

heading out in a few to run a few errands.

wanted to say thank for all your wonderful ideas for omelete fixins'.

i went to make my 'usual' this morning - egg whites, shrooms, spinach - and thought, man i dont want to eat that this morning.

my alternative was to go to Paneras and have a less than PALEO breakfast sandwich (uber, uber yummy and healthy, but still....)

i thought better of it.

what i really needed to do was change up my usual.  and i started thinking of all the fixins you posted....ding.  ding.  ding.

uber yummy omelete.

shrooms, spinach AND salsa!  (i think KIM, you mentioned salsa....)

just added that little xtra so i didnt seem so mundane/boring.

same ol same gets....well....ol.

speaking of PALEO DIET.

stepped on the scale this morning.  another 3 pounds lost.  that's 7 total since i started.

dont have much to lose, you know the typical 5-10 that hangs around.

super excited to see, the added bonus.  im feeling GREAT, a lot more energy, less mood swings [minus the post-half malaise earlier in the week] and a lot less intestinal/stomach issues (i think that originated from additives and perservatives)

its ALL GOOD.

thanks to my bestest GHOULIES, for the 'assist'.

mwah!

Great job on the weight loss!  It's amazing what the no processed crap diet does for you.  I don't have official weight loss numbers but I can tell I'm down by the fit of my clothes

So he's a cat 2 rider even though it's bad for his health?  Um....yeah.  Class A nutjob there.  Nice job just continuing on the run.  He and I would have had a nice conversation, in which I envision myself blatantly laughing in his face

Well the afternoon ride wasn't quite as enjoyable as I had hoped.  30 mph winds will do that.  Cut it short at just a little over 21 miles.  It was still nice to be outside in shorts in early November in Iowa

So how long did you wind up cooking the squash?  I will probably try it this weekend.

About 20 minutes then I threw the veggies on top of it and cooked it another 15-20 minutes.

Very yummy.  Don't know how filling it is but it tastes good!

It sounds great!  Am going to give that a try next week.

Wow, that is creepy.  Glad it didn't go any further.  I've been thinking I should carry pepper spray because I usually run in the dark but you can't buy the stuff in jersey.  Of course, my runs are currently in the Y pool.  Might be tempting to use it there sometimes.......Innocent

Oh yes!  That occupied my mind for some time during the jog!  LOL    Like why is he such a good bike rider if it is so bad for you.  And when he compared it to marijuana, I should have said that at least exercise is legal.  And so forth.  But actually at the time I was only thinking that I did not want to talk to him AT ALL.

And the jog went so well....  rain stopped, wasn't windy, fast pace (for me Wink)  knee felt pretty good.  And after getting to have lunch with DH, I went for a quick swim.  Lovely!!   SmileSmile

Weekend - Tomorrow pick up my son, go rake some leaves and clean gutters of an older couple from church, eat, goof off, go watch high school sectional finals, sleep, Sunday - church, goof off, clean the house to make it look nice for DW return.

Pretty exciting huh?

Very It sounds about as happily-domestic as mine. Laundry, cat litter, vacuuming, cooking... I'll try to do something fun with the kids and get in a couple runs as well.
