crimefighter2 - 2009-12-30 12:08 PMI've been wondering where out co-captain is myself.

I just called the local Y for the 5 K tomorrow.  My concerns were right.  Apparently the first half mile or more will be snow packed and slick.  So much for busting out of the gate and setting a PR.  I've actually been practicing negative splits, so this may work to my advantage.  a 10 min first mile and then two 8's - HA!  Probably not.  I'll shoot for maybe a 9 and "we'll see" from there.

Any advice from the runners in this thread?  No, I don't have "Yak Trax" or whatever those are.  I do have boots, but I think I'd look silly.  Tongue out
FWIW it is easier to run in the snow where it is less packed, even if it gets your shoes a little wet. I try to find someone's tracks but stay out of major ruts where it is slickest. Bring your boots and dry socks to put on for the ride/walk home. Have fun!!oops-on a borrowed computer-no to good with it

Okay, spreadsheet updated.  I'm too lazy to go back and update my logs from vacation but I did the work.  I don't think I'll hit my running goal but I am running today so I'll get closer.  I'll get my biking goal though!  The holiday's and traveling have really wiped me out.

and now for my "race report"
It would have been a pr 5K - at 22:32 - except they decided it was too dangerous on a particular loop and didn't want us running on it.  So - my watch said it was 2.82 miles.  Still, an 8:02 pace, which is great for me.  I'll have to work on holding that for a full 3 miles, then 4 and so on.  Somehow it was a 428 calorie burn too, so that's pretty darn cool.

Oddly enough, apparently my age group kicked .  I talked to a guy who finished 8th overall.  He was 5th in our group.  A 17 y/o kid won it, I finished 27th (if I believe the popsicle stick they gave me) and I wasn't even 6th.  Oh well.  Still glad I did it.  Have a great night folks.  time to check the sheet.....

Du December Challenge - Final Results

103.3% Vixens

100.3% Frostbite Force

100.1% Evil Elves

88.0% Christmas Cookies

Phenomenal effort by all teams!  There are no losers - only winners from this challenge!  From what I saw in the team threads, everybody got in some workouts that they would have skipped!  Great job to all!  Everybody can add the following to their signature:  "My team won the Du-December Challenge while everyone else was eating!"

Thanks to everyone who particpated!  It was a great month!
