So far today I've slept, and watched cartoons. I did get outside for a couple of minutes with my daughter. It is gorgeous out. We shot a few baskets, but she tired quickly, so we sat on the steps and watched the pups play in the yard. She's napping now.

40 second improvement KENDRA.

Gouhlies, I need some advice.

I am 17 weeks out from Vineman half ironman. I have been running about 3 miles, one to two times/week. I have been on my bike twice this year (as in twice since January 1st). I have not swum since my accident in January, and while I may be able to start doing some breaststroke this weekend, I will not likely be doing freestyle for at least a few more weeks, maybe a month. I need to start making some hard decisions about whether or not to do the half ironman. I am currently about #115 on the waitlist. It is definitely moving faster now, about 5 to 10 spots per day. I need to decide before I get the email that my name is up for registration, which I anticipate could happen anywhere from 3 to 5 weeks from now. Currently I haveonly paid the $25 waitlist fee, so I'm not out any large amount of money if i decide not to do it. My coach/friend is saying I shouldn't try to do the race. I have been feeling iffy about it from the beginning, I honestly wasn't planning on doing a half this year, but 3 of my friends and workout buddies are doing this race, so I jumped on the bandwagon. What better place to be than in California, surrounded by vineyards and friends, right? I have been mulling it over, and just when I decide, and tell someone I'm going to do it, or not going to do it, I start doubting myself. My hubby and parents don't think I should do it, but will support meif I decide to do it. I haven't even done anything more than a sprint before. So, I have a dilemma. Do I do everything in my power to get ready, knowing that in the past when I do that, I end up injured, or do I sit back and say no, and spend the summer doing shorter races, closer to home, and hopefully join my friends at a half in the next year or two?

AMY.

you're GHOULIGANS have your back whatever you decide.

but i would suggest the latter - spend the summer doing shorter races, closer to home.

the 1/2 will always be there and your friends will too!

you want your first 1/2 to be the best experience possible.  waiting until youre 100% will guarantee that it will be.

just my thoughts.

Morning Ghoulies. Today is my day off and I am gonna get some yardwork in and a swim. It just sucks that the pool is so far away. That is basically 4 hours of my day just to swim. But I am excited to see if I retained the info from last week.

Hope everyone's day is stupendous.

Morning Ghouligans. Back from London and wfh today. Hope to get a short run in tonight as I got zero workouts in on my trip. My only exercise was walking up and down the steps to my room on the 7th floor which I did to make up for the lack of any other activity. Had a bit of excitement one night when the ceiling in my bathroom basically collapsed in the middle of the night. Guest in the room above left the water running in the tub and left the room. Idiot. I was sound asleep when it happened. The water had been running down the walls for hours. My room was flooded. I had to scramble to get my stuff and get out of the room into the hall. To say I was not happy is an understatement.

Robin, did you do the TI workshop last weekend? How was it? I really got a lot of confidence when I did it a few years ago. Not a lot of speed, but I felt a lot better about the likelihood of me drowning diminishing.

I watched 2 movies on my flight home yesterday. The King's Speech, which I didn't expect to enjoy. I LOVED it.  Then Black Swan which was very disturbing. I had bad dreams last night.

Thanks for the heads up. I wanted to see Black Swan, but I have disturbing dreams anyway, so maybe I'll just skip it. It's cool that you got to see new movies on your flight.

i still want to go to dinner. im just gonna see a different movie.

i thought id see Black Swan.  it was playing at the theater we are going last week, but alas, its not in that theater anymore.

after your review Kim, im thinking maybe its better that i didnt go and see this one by myself.

but...

im gonna see Red Hiding Hood instead.  it looks creepy too.

im not one for scary movies, usually.

i'll have to wait until Black Swan comes to DVD.

well a day of mostly laying on my azz and doing nothing seems to have kicked whatever it was that was going on in my body.

i feel lots better.

the sun is helping too.

i watched Hereafter.  good one to rent but glad i didnt pay too much to see it.

Matt Damon is great, but he's been in these half-baked movies lately - Hereafter, Adjustment Bureau.  great movies conceptually but the story lines are weak.

ah well.

at least he's easy on the eyes.

nothing yesturday and today in fact.

im hoping i will get in a swim tomorrow or sunday during my down shifts as long as the Center isnt slammed and were not short staffed.

these highschool students can be VERY unreliable.  i dont understand whats up with the parents that just let them shirk their responsibilities.

my kid has a job he will be there.period.no questions.or he doesnt get to have a job.

Good morning Ghoulies!

After several days of feeling yucky, I feel better this morning. I have a soccer coach's clinic most of the morning. Then I have a ton of housework to do today since I didn't do any all week. I'm hoping to walk the 4 mile loop though this afternoon.

I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC Saturday!

So...I've got a 12hr shift of learning how to doctor today. Just getting dressed and going to the gym for a recovery spin. It's been a rough week training wise...Tired and achy now. Need to take a supply of advil with me incase I get particularly sore while running around all day on the wards. Hope everyone has a good weekend!
