Daddy was super happy she got the 24, he's a Jeff Gordon fan. 40 kids in her wave, a pool swim with 10 seconds between each kid - she passed two BOYS in the water and the swim was only 50 meters! I have to say I was a bit surprised to see 8 and 9 year old kids on Scott tri bikes wearing pointy helmets! Jinkies! There were a few Felts and Figi's as well. She did great on her Trek hybrid. A few months ago after she got her bike and named it Chrissie we sent Chrissie Wellington a note and she sent Kerianne an autographed picture of herself racing on the bike. When Kerianne saw this pic she said "That is the one I want to send to Chrissie, I owe her a picture of me" LOL (KATriBike.jpg) Attachments ---------------- KATriBike.jpg (74KB - 11 downloads) |

Alright guys first race of the season is in the books..Looks like I finished with a time off 2:44:49...27th out of 61 in the 40-44 age group..I will let you know when I get my RR up...Overall had a good race and good time just disappointed in my swim leg it was brutal I was a total of 8 minutes of my pace...didn't help that it ended up being wetsuit legal and I don't have one in my bag yet...Plus it was reported by several races that the distance was around 1.10 miles and should have been .93 miles..Oh well it is over and in the books,we learn from it and move forward.. 194th Overall Swim 38:54 T1 1:17 Bike 1:12:37 20.7 avg T2 1:08 Run 50:54 8:13 pace Total: 2:44:49 |

Ran it in 27.02 which is almost 3 minutes faster than my 5k time last year!!!! Very jazzed right now. I didn't know how fast I would be able to run as I didn't taper and had a 2 hour ride yesterday. I was hoping to go under 29 minutes - so very very happy! Yeah!!!! Great race!! Knocking 3 minutes off is a huge number! Congrats! Yea for you Robin!!!! |

Veteran 274 Arvada | Subject: RE: kenj's group closed, training hard and having fun!! Metric Century up for me tomorrow!! Weather is not looking to be in my favor, but then again it changes every time I look at it. Now it's looking like rain until about 8 a.m. and the warming up. We were planing to start as early as possible. (6:30) as the course support ends at noon and the girl I'm riding with is pretty unsure of her abilities (sshhh me too she has a real habit of over estimating her abilities, and allways lacking training. ) I'm half hoping she sill turn and the 37 mile mark and I can finish up on my own...weather permitting. If it's bad I might opt for the 37 too. |

Expert 943 Highlands Ranch, CO | Subject: RE: kenj's group closed, training hard and having fun!! So for some good news and not so good news. Not so good news first. Brian (significant other) was laid off on Thursday, the day before we were going to hand our inspection report with a list of corrections to the buyer of the home we were going to purchase. It was a real blow but at least we hadn't closed on the house before this happened. That would have been very very bad. Now for the good news. I ran a 5k yesterday with some friends and did my best time in a very long time. My Garmin had the distance at 3.19 but either way my first two miles were definately faster then I have been doing. I was really pushing and had that "I think I am going to puke" feeling close to the finish. At least that feeling was due to working hard and not the crazy GI issue I have. It is a gloomy day here today and I need to get some work done (taking work home stinks but I have a deadline to meet) but my plan is to get a run in and hit the weights. Someday I will get myself to the pool. Happy Sunday All! |

Kenj Question for you??My next Olympic is in four weeks what training plan should I import.I really want to try and get into the 2hour 30minute mark..This event was my first every tri last year at 2:53 so I really want to rock here.. thanks Honestly in 4 weeks that is a lot to expect considering a little recovery this week and the week before would have some taper. There is a 10 week intermediate olympic plan which would be the more challenging. When you are loading it use the race date as the end date of the plan and it will load all 10 weeks, but it will only have the next 4 weeks in your planned training. Are you going to try and get a wetsuit prior to that race? You will probably have some pretty good gains if you were. I know around here there are places that rent them if you aren't ready to purchase one yet. But looking at your swim a few days ago, you can probably pick up 6 or 7 minutes between the course being more accurate and the extra help from a wetsuit. Train smart! |
