Subject: RE: Experior and Slornow's Spring/Summer Mentor Group-CLOSEDSo, I'll let you all know the diagnosis, since several have asked. From my blog: Apparently, according to the latest, I have Diverticulitis. Yeah, I never heard of that either, and apparently it's an 'old person's disease' (60+), which is why they didn't at first think of it for me. So I told the doctor that I'm a young man in an old man's body. He tried to make me feel better by saying that sometimes middle-aged folks get it. Thanks. That helped. I guess. Anyway, he thinks that careful diet, including avoiding all dairy, could turn it around, so we're going to try that. Actually, he said "we're going to try changing diet and increasing exercise before anything else". Then I told him how much I exercise, and he said "OK, so we'll focus on the diet then." Big thing for me will be avoiding dairy, which I love. (I'm a Wisconsin boy after all!) Meanwhile, it still hurts even to take a step. I said to him: "How'm I supposed to exercise if every step is like a knife to the gut?". Good point. He gave me a prescription, which in general I'm not inclined to accept, but if it is truly temporary (one week) and it truly will allow me to train, then, well, I'm considering it. Tomorrow will tell. I'll sleep on it. |
